Story
Angle is a 4.5 Year Old Great Dane/Smooth Coated Collie Mix. She loves playing with other dogs and ignores cats, unless they want to play. She loves her people and even though she loves playing with other dogs, she really wants her human all to herself. She is also laid back and enjoys a good cuddle and chill on the couch while catching up on some TV. Angle is crate trained, enjoys toys and completely untrustworthy on free roam with high interest items (this includes expensive items; we don’t know how she knows – but she does!) If you think you are Angle's forever home, please complete an adoption application at https://www.savethegiants.com/adoption-process .

Phryne is named after the heroine in Miss Fisher mysteries. She has a lot to overcome but like her namesake, she’s going to come out on top. She is deaf, she has some health issues, which she’s not old enough for us to fully test yet, and she may have some vision issues. But rest-assured, she doesn't let this stop her. She is the sweetest of hearts and loves to play when it's playtime and snuggle when it's nap time. Phryne is looking for her forever home where she will be loved unconditionally. If you're interested in adopting Phryne, visit savethegiants.com to submit your application. Even if you can't adopt Phryne, you can still support this sweet girl. Story
Cocoa is looking for her New Forever Home. Cocoa is coming up on 5 years old and is learning the benefits of having fur siblings and toys, lots of toys! She can play a little rough with her fur siblings, but quick to redirect. She has lived with children and seems to ignore cats. Cocoa is an expert at opening sliding gates and sliding doors. She has enough drool for two other dogs. She loves to be in the middle of the action and assumes everyone else wants her there! She is a foodie and likes to sample everyone’s dish! Cocoa’s Back Story: Cocoa is a 5 year old black Great Dane that was owner surrendered to us due to a divorce. Cocoa was just recovering from surgery on her Happy Tail. The skin is so damaged the vet removed the last 2-3” from her tail. If you think Cocoa is your Soulmate - please complete an adoption application at https://www.savethegiants.com/adoption-process .

Story
Ziggy Stardust is all Great Dane - a Pocket Great Dane. She was owner surrendered and believed to be about 4 years old. She is timid and in good health, up to date on shots, and she is heartworm negative. Her Foster Mom tells use that she gets along with everyone. She is so sweet. And in a short time she has already earned to be free roam in the house. She can be a little standoffish but warms up quickly (this is fear-based not aggression-based). She is super sweet according to everyone that has fostered her, transported her. If you are interested in adopting Ziggy please complete an application at www.savethegiants.com

Story
Eustace AKA Goat is almost a year old and has Auto-immune issues along with HOD. While we were very lucky and caught the HOD early, he will always show signs of this through his deformed limbs. There is always a slight chance that it can come back and his pet parents will need to be very careful with vaccinations due to the auto-immune issues. Eustace LOVES toys, food, playing with others and climbing on his person. Paw Patrol is a morning favorite that he will watch with his little sister. He requires inside and outside toys and will take toys out if he feels there is not enough outside. Laying in the grass is a great day for him and depending on the treats he loves spending time training and pretending to walk well on a leash. Eustace loves everyone once he gets to know them, but the world at large is very scary and he tends to have issues away from his Emotional Support Person. He is currently in training to work on his confidence. When stressed he can often be destructive or not be able to control going to the bathroom. If you think Eustace is your Forever Soulmate please complete an application at https://www.savethegiants.com/adoption-process

Story
Meet Goliath, a stunning Great Dane with a heart as big as his name suggests. This gentle giant was found as a stray and brought to a shelter, where he quickly won over the staff with his kind and loving demeanor. They described him as sweet, gentle, and a total favorite during his stay. Goliath may be dog-selective and seems to prefer a calm, low-stress environment. When he was found, he was involved in a scuffle with another dog, which the shelter staff believes may have been due to a female in heat nearby. He has since been tested with other dogs at the shelter, and while his introductions weren’t perfect (he showed some hesitation with his hackles raised), they were promising. Goliath might thrive as the only dog in the home or could potentially coexist with a calm and patient canine companion. We’re still getting to know Goliath and learning more about his needs since rescuing him from the shelter on 2/11/25. What we do know is that he’s a sweet soul who’s looking for a loving forever home where he can feel safe and cherished. If you think you could be the one to give this big boy the second chance he deserves, we’d love to hear from you! Prospective adopters should fill out an application on our website. Goliath is waiting to meet you! 💙

Story
Roper was running at large in North Texas and found his happy place at a French Bulldog breeder’s property SO if you see some really big FBs you know who the baby daddy is! He got his name because the sheriff roped him to break up the party. Our founder drove him to Colorado and just because of his size, she said people wouldn’t even make eye contact with her at gas stations, especially when she got him out to tinkle. She felt totally safe with him and so happy to have him along for the ride. He is 80-ish pounds and we think Dane and whatever. Roper has since been neutered, is current on vaccines, and has been working with a trainer on general obedience. His best owner would be alpha and keep up his training. This boy is sweet and athletic - watching him run and play is a beautiful thing. Please email dancingdogrescueco@gmail.com for foster or adoption information.

Story
For more information about this Dane, please visit our website at https://rmgreatdane.org. Adoption Applications link can be found on the home page. Hi – they call me Bubas.  I spent 4 months in a shelter.  They named me Bubas. I checked out of the vet with a clean bill of health, but they recommended some meds for fear and anxiety.  You see, I was found wandering the streets, so I have a very mysterious background – my little secret.  But I can tell you this:  I am scared of a lot of things, especially men and strangers.  Strange Men are the Worst.    I have latched on to Foster Mom and will not leave her side – I don’t growl at Foster Dad anymore, so that’s a bit of progress. I enjoy playing with other dogs and my toys.  I’m good with middle aged to older kids, but the little ones have as much energy as I do and they make me a bit nervous.  Besides, I’m big enough to knock them down when I’m just trying to play with them. I am slowly learning manners and commands and getting better with time.  I’m learning to walk on a harness and leash – regular collars make me alligator roll to get out of them.  I am house trained and crate trained. Here is my idea of the perfect home:  Great Dane Experience, female only household, my people to be home more than not, lots of patience and love, another big dog to pal around with and whom I can learn from,  interest in helping me to learn how to bring out the Awesomeness that is inside of me, and some more love.  Please fill out an application and ask for me.November 6, 2024, 3:48 pm

Story
For more information about this Dane, please visit our website at https://rmgreatdane.org. Adoption Applications link can be found on the home page. Special Needs:  Daily heart medication ($18 per month) Kevin’s photos say so much about his past.  It is clear this boy has been let down before but we at RMGDRI want to help turn things around and provide the love and medical care Kevin deserves.  We are in need of a special foster family willing to support his recovery.  Because we have limited information on Kevin, the ideal home will have no other dogs or cats.  We will consider older, dog savvy teenagers but given limited history, a home with children is not ideal. Like most shelter surrenders, we have limited information on Kevin.  We know based on a vet examination, he will have significant health needs.  We as a rescue will cover his medical care.  We need a loving foster home that has the ability to take him to doctor appointments as needed and provide whatever medical care is required in the home.  We would like to get him out of the shelter as soon as possible.  Kevin will likely remain on medical hold (foster) status with the rescue due to his health needs. More about Kevin: Intact Male (Will be neutered by RMGDRI when medically cleared) House-trained unknown Create trained unknown No children (We have limited history on Kevin) Friendly to people / visitors No dogs (unknown history, shows some reactivity at shelter) No cats (unknown history, shows some reactivity at shelter) Fenced backyard required (unknown leash skills) Giant Breed Experience required due to history; Experience with medical / hospice needs preferred December 3, 2024, 5:36 pm

Story
For more information about this Dane, please visit our website at https://rmgreatdane.org. Adoption Applications link can be found on the home page. Roxxy is a 3–4-year-old Great Dane eager to begin her new chapter and live her best life. Rescued by Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue Inc. from a backyard breeder, she gave her final litter of puppies a loving and secure start in a foster home. Now that her puppies have found their forever families, it’s Roxxy’s turn to find the loving home she truly deserves. Personality Highlights: Outgoing yet laid-back, Roxxy is the perfect mix of sociable and serene. She’s a “Velcro dog,” loving to stay close to her family but also enjoys her independence. Roxxy thrives on affection, especially from teenagers, and will soak up all the attention she can get. Though quiet and gentle, she has a playful streak, occasionally chasing or wrestling with other dogs. Quirks & Preferences:&#226&#152&#128&#239&#184&#143 Sunbathing is her favorite pastime, and she loves to lounge in the warm weather. If it’s cold or dark, though, she’s quick to head inside. Car rides are a highlight of her day! She adores the family tradition of bus stop drop-offs and pick-ups but appreciates a little boost to get into the car. Roxxy is terrified of fireworks, so she’ll need a calm and comforting home during noisy celebrations.&#239&#184&#143 She loves the comfort of her crate or a cozy spot like the family “Lovesac.” While she enjoys her family’s company, she also likes quiet moments to herself for naps. Training & Home Etiquette:&#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Crate-trained and house trained with no accidents.&#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Knows basic commands like “sit” and “off.”&#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Trustworthy with free roam and not destructive in the home.&#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Plays gently and can easily give up toys or food. Interactions: Friendly with family and visitors but can be shy, needing gentle introductions and time to adjust. Good with large dogs, although she prefers occasional play and tends to keep to herself. Needs gentle corrections when training What Roxxy Needs in a Family:Roxxy is looking for a patient, loving family that understands her past as an outdoor dog used for breeding. She’s sensitive and will take time to fully settle in, but with love and consistency, she’ll reward her new family with unwavering devotion. Her perfect home includes:&#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Older children or teenagers who will understand her needs and give her the attention she craves.&#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 A calm, understanding environment where she can feel safe.&#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 A family that values her quirks, like her love for sunbathing and occasional solo nap time. Roxxy has come a long way and is ready to start the next chapter of her life with a family who will embrace her unique charm and loving nature. More Info about Roxxy: Crate trained: Yes House trained: Yes History with children: good with older children. LOVES attention from teenagers Good with large dogs Unknown with cats Needs continued basic training and leash training Mild energy – needs a calm home Would enjoy a fenced yard Friendly and affectionate but a sensitive girl Fearful of yelling and loud noises  February 10, 2025, 4:38 pm

Story
Hi there, I'm Lizzy! I'm a young girl with such a bright and happy personality. I love to wiggle my whole body and smile at everyone! I do great on a leash- hardly pull at all. I'm potty-trained and get along well with other dogs. My only request: no kitties please!  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas at least monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. ##1971509##
