Story
*** COURTESY POST *** DOG IS NOT AT THE SHELTER *** Rescue Plea for Scruffy the Great Dane Scruffy, a gentle 5-year-old Great Dane with charming white-tipped toes, urgently needs a new home due to unexpected housing changes. This sweet, unaltered boy is current on all vaccinations through South Davis Vet and is truly a wonderful companion. Scruffy has been an indoor dog his whole life, is fully potty-trained, and crate-trained, making him a perfect fit for an experienced dog-loving household. Although Scruffy might bark when meeting new people, he quickly warms up and turns into a big cuddle bug who craves affection from everyone. He gets along well with other dogs and would thrive in a home where he can be part of the family, soaking up all the love he deserves. Please help us find a safe, loving home for Scruffy—this gentle giant doesn’t deserve to face uncertainty! If you can help or know someone who can, please reach out to Jesus at 707-592-6282 or email jesuse_caves@hotmail.com. Let’s work together to give Scruffy the second chance he deserves. All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Story
My Adoption Fee is Waived!Meet Duke, our lovable Great Dane mix with a heart as big as his paws! Duke is a fun-loving, doofy boy who brings joy and laughter wherever he goes.  He adores giving and receiving affection.  Despite his size, Duke is impressively easy to walk on a leash. Duke is currently in foster care.  He loves both of the adults in the household equally and is excited to get attention from either.  We haven’t seen him around kids, but due to his size and exuberance we think he’d knock little ones down.  He’s a leaner!  Once he gives his initial greetings he loves to lean on you to show his affection.  He lives with 4 other dogs and gets along fine with everyone.  The smallest dog in his foster home is 40 pounds and the two of them love to wrestle and play chase.  No kitties for Duke, they are too fun to chase.Duke has good manners in his foster home and is a medium energy guy.  Once he has some time in the morning to play and get his energy out, he’s ready for naps.  He’s very receptive to verbal correction and wants to please his people.  He has not had any potty accidents in his foster home.  We always suggest close monitoring and putting new dogs on a potty schedule until they acclimate to their new environment to make sure they are set up for success.  Duke was recently diagnosed with a condition called megaesophagus.  If you aren`t familiar with this condition there`s lots of info available with a quick web search, but in general he needs to be fed vertically in a Bailey chair.  Duke is doing great with his new Bailey chair and he`s on one inexpensive medicine.  His condition is likely lifelong.  If you’re looking for a gentle giant who will fill your life with love and laughter, Duke is your boy. Come meet Duke and let him show you how wonderful life with a big, sweet, and goofy friend can be!Check out Duke with his doggy foster sister:Duke is in foster care.  If you`re interested in meeting him please contact his foster mom at lori.woodward@comcast.net

Story
NAME:MaxxSTATS:Male, Dane Corso/ Mastiff Mix, 1.5 years, 115 lbs.TEMPERAMENT:Shy at first and warms up.Needs seasoned owner to work with issues (see below).Moderately ActiveInitially was told he was fearful of men, which seems to be he just needs slow introductions to new people where he can approach them at his own pace. Warms up quickly to men and women as long as it is done slowly and at his pace. Initially weary of strangers. SKILLSPotty trained.Crate trained.Older children in a savvy home only (12+)Has not been exposed to cats.Has not been exposed to other dogs and ideally looking to place as an only dog at this time.MORE ABOUT ME:Likes belly rubs.Needs patient proactive owner willing to work on behavior (see details below).Signing up for basic training will be a requirement to adopt. EXPERIENCED/large breed savvy owners required.ONE LAST THING:Maxx is a supersized puppy with lots of attention and love to give to the right family. He is goofy and loves to play, especially with an appropriately sized toy like his JUMBO Jolly-Ball. He loves treats and while he is a little on the shy side at first with new people, he warms up quickly as long as it is done at his pace. After the initial warm up phase, his true personality comes out. There is a playful side to him as well as a lazy lay at your feet side, although sometimes he may mistakenly lay on your feet in his attempt to cuddle :).Maxx initially had negative reactions when it came to strangers and pretty much everything new to him (including swaying palm trees). With reassurance, positive reinforcement in the form of treats, and looking to his handler for a confidence boost, his triggers have lost power. He will need continued socialization, desensitization, and training. With the right forever home, Maxx will continue to improve. He picks up on things very quickly and is very treat and toy motivated. He does need someone who will be patient with him, but also serve as someone who he can turn to for confidence and stability when he is unsure or frightened of something new for reassurance. Story
Zena is a beautiful girl who would love to be your loyal companion. She enjoys long daily walks and would be thrilled to have a backyard to do her signature zoomies in! However, she's just as happy being an apartment dog as long as she gets her daily outings. Zena adores affection from her trusted humans, though she may be a shy at first. With patience and love, she'll warm up to you and show her sweet and playful side. Zena prefers to be your one and only dog in the home, so she can soak up all your attention and love! If you're looking for a special, loyal companion, Zena might be the perfect match for you!
