How this pet arrived: Nova was brought in by her previous owner on July 1, 2025. Why Nova might be the one for you:Meet Nova, a friendly and affectionate pup in search of a loving new home! Nova has been doing great in a foster home, and settled into her new routine in just a few days. She is friendly with guests and if you offer her pets, she loves to weave between your legs for full body scratches. #0ba7b4;">At SDHS:Boston has been vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped and is ready for her new home! Why this pet is the one for you:Boston is a big hearted, people loving gal who is ready to make every day feel like a paw-ty. She greets with a wiggly body, enjoys attention from staff and strangers alike, and has the charming habit of believing laps come in extra large. This sweet girl is generally mellow, enjoys leisurely walks, and is easy to redirect when something interesting catches her eye. Boston knows sit and paw, and is happiest when she can be close to her people, soaking up affection. She may get worried in busy, noisy areas with lots of dog commotion, but once she has a calmer space, her friendly, gentle personality shines through. If you are looking for a lovable companion with a soft spirit, silly lap dog dreams, and plenty of affection to share, Boston may be your perfect big city sweetheart. ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. Meet Roscoe! Roscoe is a 1½-year-old, 85-pound Great Dane mix with a big heart to match his size. He may be a little shy for the first few minutes when meeting new people, but once he warms up, he quickly becomes your loyal best friend. Roscoe is a young, playful guy who would love a canine buddy to run and play with. Like many big, enthusiastic pups, he’s still working on his manners and would benefit from continued guidance and training as he grows into his best self. Roscoe’s story started with heartbreak—he was abandoned when his family moved away and left him in the backyard. He ended up on the euthanasia list before finding safety with us, and now he’s ready for a fresh start with a family who will love him forever. Roscoe has been neutered, microchipped, and is up to date on all vaccines. He also appears to be house trained. With his sweet nature and playful spirit, Roscoe is ready to bring a lot of love (and a little Dane-sized goofiness) into his forever home. His adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  May 13, 2026, 7:21 pm

Story
Apollo is approximately 1.5 years, around 85 pounds, neutered, fully vaccinated Great Dane/Visla mix breed. He is crate trained and good with potty & leash training~ soon he will be a pro of all three!! He is affectionate, but can be a bit nervous when first met with unexpected changes. Apollo gets along well with most dogs (but we suggest he be paired with a female companion), adults and older children alike. Given his adaptability, he should be able to learn your family’s routine rather quickly and become part of the gang in no time!!! Apollo was discovered in the Tecate neighborhoods. When found He was skinny and suffered from ehrlichiosis and anaplasmosis. Fortunately, he is now healthy & flourishing under the loving care of a foster. (June 2025) Apollo has a lot of love to give and longs for a family who can provide him patience, affection and attention he craves. He deserves a warm and loving home where he can feel cherished as a member of the family!!!
