Story
NAME:MaxxSTATS:Male, Dane Corso/ Mastiff Mix, 1.5 years, 115 lbs.TEMPERAMENT:Shy at first and warms up.Needs seasoned owner to work with issues (see below).Moderately ActiveInitially was told he was fearful of men, which seems to be he just needs slow introductions to new people where he can approach them at his own pace. Warms up quickly to men and women as long as it is done slowly and at his pace. Initially weary of strangers. SKILLSPotty trained.Crate trained.Older children in a savvy home only (12+)Has not been exposed to cats.Has not been exposed to other dogs and ideally looking to place as an only dog at this time.MORE ABOUT ME:Likes belly rubs.Needs patient proactive owner willing to work on behavior (see details below).Signing up for basic training will be a requirement to adopt. EXPERIENCED/large breed savvy owners required.ONE LAST THING:Maxx is a supersized puppy with lots of attention and love to give to the right family. He is goofy and loves to play, especially with an appropriately sized toy like his JUMBO Jolly-Ball. He loves treats and while he is a little on the shy side at first with new people, he warms up quickly as long as it is done at his pace. After the initial warm up phase, his true personality comes out. There is a playful side to him as well as a lazy lay at your feet side, although sometimes he may mistakenly lay on your feet in his attempt to cuddle :).Maxx initially had negative reactions when it came to strangers and pretty much everything new to him (including swaying palm trees). With reassurance, positive reinforcement in the form of treats, and looking to his handler for a confidence boost, his triggers have lost power. He will need continued socialization, desensitization, and training. With the right forever home, Maxx will continue to improve. He picks up on things very quickly and is very treat and toy motivated. He does need someone who will be patient with him, but also serve as someone who he can turn to for confidence and stability when he is unsure or frightened of something new for reassurance. Story
My Adoption Fee is Waived!Meet Duke, our lovable Great Dane mix with a heart as big as his paws! Duke is a fun-loving, doofy boy who brings joy and laughter wherever he goes.  He adores giving and receiving affection.  Despite his size, Duke is impressively easy to walk on a leash. Duke is currently in foster care.  He loves both of the adults in the household equally and is excited to get attention from either.  We haven’t seen him around kids, but due to his size and exuberance we think he’d knock little ones down.  He’s a leaner!  Once he gives his initial greetings he loves to lean on you to show his affection.  He lives with 4 other dogs and gets along fine with everyone.  The smallest dog in his foster home is 40 pounds and the two of them love to wrestle and play chase.Duke has good manners in his foster home and is a medium energy guy.  Once he has some time in the morning to play and get his energy out, he’s ready for naps.  He’s very receptive to verbal correction and wants to please his people.  He has not had any potty accidents in his foster home.  We always suggest close monitoring and putting new dogs on a potty schedule until they acclimate to their new environment to make sure they are set up for success.  Duke was recently diagnosed with a condition called megaesophagus.  If you aren`t familiar with this condition there`s lots of info available with a quick web search, but in general he needs to be fed vertically in a Bailey chair.  Duke is doing great with his new Bailey chair and we’re trying some medications to see if they’ll help him.  His condition is likely lifelong.  If you’re looking for a gentle giant who will fill your life with love and laughter, Duke is your boy. Come meet Duke and let him show you how wonderful life with a big, sweet, and goofy friend can be!Check out Duke with his doggy foster sister:Duke is in foster care.  If you`re interested in meeting him please contact his foster mom at lori.woodward@comcast.net

Story
Seamus (shay-mus) is a one-of-a-kind blockhead who is ready to give his heart to the right person or family. He is in a foster home with lots of dogs and does well with everyone. He’s shown that he is super smart, friendly, playful, emotionally in-tune with his human friends, and a supreme cuddle bug. Seamus is crate-trained, knows basic commands, and walks nicely on-leash. He can be excitable in the way he wants to give all his love at once, but is learning to control his impulses as he continues to decompress in his new structured environment. Seamus is 6 years old, 70ish pounds and healthy. California Pit bull Rescue is an official 501(c)(3) and requires an adoption application and $200 donation fee for all adoptions.October 15, 2024, 8:09 pm

Story
Berlin is our four year old male Blue Great Dane. He has been with us since she was 10 weeks old. He is healthy and in good shape. He eats well and exercises well. We have a very large property with two Great Danes and they have lived here their whole lives. My husband and I travel at least 10 times a year for long periods of time for work and are in the process of moving and are no longer able to provide the love and attention that both of our Danes need. Our boy is so sweet and loves to be around people. He does well with children and other dogs but prefers to be with adults and has always been the center of attention in our home. He is very loved.

Story
**Roman needs a foster or adopter asap as his current foster mom is going through some health issues!!!* Roman is a big old baby who needs all the love, scratches and play time that you can give him! Roman loves to run and do zoomies all over the yard. His favorite games are fetch, tug of war and keep away. Once he has burned off his high puppy energy, Roman is happy to lay down on the couch for a nice nap. Roman knows to sit and wait for permission before eating out of his food bowl. Roman knows his basic commands such as sit and stay, but due to his large size additional obedience training is recommended to help Roman to not knock over his loved ones. He does nicely in his kennel and is eager to please. Roman currently lives with other dogs but is currently kept separate as he is healing from an injury given to him by another not-so-nice dog. Roman was initially in doggy playgroups at the shelter, but given the traumatic experience will need slow introductions to new dogs to be successful. Roman is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. All Better World Rescue dogs qualify for complimentary private and/or group training to help ensure a successful adoption. If you would like to meet Roman to see if he is a good fit for your family, please fill out our short adoption application: www.betterworldrescue.org/adoption-application Upon receipt of your application, one of our passionate volunteers will call you within one business day to answer any questions and schedule a meet.
