Story
NAME:MaxxSTATS:Male, Dane Corso/ Mastiff Mix, 1.5 years, 115 lbs.TEMPERAMENT:Shy at first and warms up.Needs seasoned owner to work with issues (see below).Moderately ActiveInitially was told he was fearful of men, which seems to be he just needs slow introductions to new people where he can approach them at his own pace. Warms up quickly to men and women as long as it is done slowly and at his pace. Initially weary of strangers. SKILLSPotty trained.Crate trained.Older children in a savvy home only (12+)Has not been exposed to cats.Has not been exposed to other dogs and ideally looking to place as an only dog at this time.MORE ABOUT ME:Likes belly rubs.Needs patient proactive owner willing to work on behavior (see details below).Signing up for basic training will be a requirement to adopt. EXPERIENCED/large breed savvy owners required.ONE LAST THING:Maxx is a supersized puppy with lots of attention and love to give to the right family. He is goofy and loves to play, especially with an appropriately sized toy like his JUMBO Jolly-Ball. He loves treats and while he is a little on the shy side at first with new people, he warms up quickly as long as it is done at his pace. After the initial warm up phase, his true personality comes out. There is a playful side to him as well as a lazy lay at your feet side, although sometimes he may mistakenly lay on your feet in his attempt to cuddle :).Maxx initially had negative reactions when it came to strangers and pretty much everything new to him (including swaying palm trees). With reassurance, positive reinforcement in the form of treats, and looking to his handler for a confidence boost, his triggers have lost power. He will need continued socialization, desensitization, and training. With the right forever home, Maxx will continue to improve. He picks up on things very quickly and is very treat and toy motivated. He does need someone who will be patient with him, but also serve as someone who he can turn to for confidence and stability when he is unsure or frightened of something new for reassurance. Story
Poppy is 2.5 years old, 120lbs. She attends doggie day care and gets along well with other dogs in this social setting, but not with female dogs in the home. She is very young at heart still, and plays very big. A home without small kids or cats would suit Poppy best as she is very excitable and loves to jump, play in a manner that can be rough, and get the zoomies. She loves big, and enjoys human companionship and affection. Poppy is house broken & crate trained. She takes meals in her crate, then rests for an hour. She knows all basic commands and enjoys walking on leash. She loves camping and playing at the beach.

Meet Ruby Meet Ruby, the Stunning Great Dane Mix! Ruby is a 1.5-year-old Great Dane mix with a heart as big as her paws! This gorgeous girl came to us from a local shelter where she struggled with the stress of kennel life and sadly ran out of time. Thankfully, a loving foster stepped up, and Ruby is now thriving in her temporary home. Weighing 68 pounds, Ruby could benefit from gaining a bit more weight, but she’s full of energy and excitement for life. She loves other dogs, both big and small, and adores playtime. However, she does need supervision since she isn’t fully aware of her size or strength yet. Ruby is also currently fostered with a cat, and she’s learning how to live peacefully with her feline housemate. Ruby has a sweet and loving nature—she gets along with everyone she meets and would love an active family who can keep up with her adventurous spirit. Her ideal home would have: • A yard for her to run and play. • Another dog to be her playmate. • A family with time and energy for training and daily exercise. Ruby is making excellent progress with house and crate training, and her food motivation makes her eager to learn. She enjoys walks, exploring the outdoors, and being part of an active lifestyle. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, and beautiful companion, Ruby is the perfect match! Help us find this wonderful girl the forever family she deserves. Story
Phyllis stood out right away at Merced animal shelter! She was super sweet, and so good with the other shelter dogs (large and small). She came into her foster home, feeling pretty tired from shelter life, and was so happy to have a comfy place to finally relax. She has done great with her crate training, and never complains about being put up! She is fully potty trained, and so good with commands (sit, stay, lay down, roll over…and more). Someone somewhere taught her a lot, and she was definitely loved! She is sooo good with people and kiddos, and is true to her “nanny” dog reputation. She just wants to snuggle and be snuggled. She definitely loves to beg for treats, and will give you the sad puppy eyes. She loves bananas, apples, and cheese! She still has a lot of energy , even though she’s a bit older, she loves her walks, and chasing squirrels. Also, she has recently started to show interest in toys and playing fetch. Phyllis has been acclimating to her foster brother Hank, slow and steady. She is definitely wanting all attention on her! Queen B! She deserves to spend the rest of her days, snuggled up with a family ,who will spend time watching movies and snuggling her to death. She just wants all the love!
