Story
Honey is such a loving and caring dog. She has been part of our family for almost 3 years now. We are a family of 4. We have 2 children ages 6 and 4. Toby and Honey are great with kids! They are family dogs. We got her when she was about 4 months as a birthday gift for our other male Golden Toby as a special surprise. She has been such a loyal and companion dog to our other male Golden Retriever Toby. They are inseparable! Unfortunately, my husband and I can no longer care for them because of our busy schedules. We are also struggling financially enough that we can no longer afford to care for Honey and Toby at the time and give them the attention they deserve. As hard as it is, we have made one of the hardest decisions to move forward with what’s best for them. I truely hope to find a loving family who would be willing to take her and Toby into their home . I would not want for them to be separated. Toby is such a great partner. They both are amazing dogs.

Story
Are you looking for one of those rare gems of a dog? One that can and has proven they can handle multiple situations with grace and confidence? Possibly looking to do therapy dog work or just want a level headed dog for your own companionship? Ross could be a perfect fit for you. He possesses the traits of a well bred dog in an adorable mutt package. This boy is fabulous in the car, confident in store and on urban walks, he loves everything he meets - dogs or humans. He has been camping and is reliable off leash even in new places. He is working towards his Canine Good Citizen award and could continue to work towards therapy dog certification with an adopter. He has worked with children and his kind and gentle nature has helped so many already. We truely can’t say enough good things about this dog and know he will make a new home extremely happy.

KNOWN COMMANDS: Touch, sit, down, spin, place KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Grace is housebroken to our knowledge. KNOWN LIKES: Affection, dogs, treats, training, toys KNOWN DISLIKES: Grace did have a hard time at the vet and may have some handling sensitivities - we recommend working on muzzle training for future vet visits, people touching her food or toys when she is engaging with it, but will always trade! ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Meet Grace, the spirited pup with a heart full of love and a zest for life that's sure to bring joy to any home. With an estimated weight of 45 lbs, Grace may be compact in size, but she's bursting with energy and affection. Grace's list of likes is simple yet heartwarming - she thrives on the love and affection of her human companions, along with tasty treats to reward her good behavior. However, she does have a dislike for loud noises, so a calm and peaceful environment would suit her best. Despite her past challenges, including sensitivity at the vet and making a mess at home, Grace is ready to turn over a new leaf and find a loving forever family who can provide her with plenty of exercise, enrichment, and, most importantly, unconditional love. If you're seeking a loyal and energetic companion to join your home, look no further than Grace - she's waiting to steal your heart and become your steadfast furry friend for life. Story
Stevie (aka Higgins) has a golden retriever temperament - loving and gentle. His foster Mom shared these insights: When I sit on the floor he comes over and gently sniffs my head-shoulders-cheek - his whiskers tickle. He enjoys petting and eagerly approaches and leans in for it. He loves food, especially plain, unsalted rice cakes as treats! Stevie is a brave dog, but had a hard life before HART. He was picked up as a stray in southwest Virginia, dirty, matted and wandering around alone, which is especially disturbing because he is fully blind. Although he can't see his sense of smell and hearing are excellent and help him navigate quite well after he learns the obstacles in a space. Stevie is smart and is quickly learning commands. Let us know if you would like to meet this smart, gorgeous boy! Thank you for your interest in Stevie The Golden! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=18484 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Stevie The Golden, or to submit an online application. HART adopts to the local DC/VA/MD metro area only. Visit our website for more information about our adoption process.
