Story
Meet McCoy – the sweetest little sidekick you didn’t know you were missing. At just 4.5 months old and 24 pounds, McCoy is a delightful mix of silly, snuggly, and smart. He may be a tiny bit shy at first, but give him a little patience and you’ll quickly discover his playful personality and affectionate heart. McCoy comes from a pretty interesting family tree! His mom is a Heeler/Beagle mix and his dad is a cream-colored Goldendoodle, which resulted in one very unique and adorable pup. He has the coloring of his siblings but favors his Beagle-mix mama in looks — with short little legs, a loooong Basset-style body, and a thick, medium-length coat that’s perfect for cuddling. Though he was born outside and spent his early weeks living outdoors with his parents and littermates, McCoy is now thriving inside a loving foster home. He’s learning all about family life — from the excitement of greeting you at the door (he gives the best welcome-home kisses!) to living with young boys ages 6 and 10. Every day he grows braver and more confident. At first, the big dogs in his foster home made him a little nervous — but now? He’s happily part of the crew. He absolutely loves to run and play outside, and fetch with tennis balls is quickly becoming one of his favorite games. And yes… he is SMART. You can just see those wheels turning. One of the most special things about McCoy is how deeply he bonds with his people. When his foster mom recently had a terrible migraine, McCoy instinctively curled up beside her and stayed close, offering quiet comfort. He’s not just cute — he truly cares. His activity level is beautifully balanced. He enjoys playtime and adventures, but he’s just as happy snuggled up right next to you. With a loving, supportive family, McCoy is going to absolutely bloom into the best kind of companion — loyal, joyful, and full of heart. He is expected to grow to around 45–50 pounds when fully grown. If you’re looking for a special boy who is adorable inside and out, McCoy may be your perfect match. To learn more about McCoy, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com. We transport from our rescue base in Nashville up the northeastern corridor of states to approved adopters. McCoy is ready to find his forever family — maybe it’s you. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.March 7, 2026, 12:24 pm

Story
Meet Henrietta!  This sweet, doodle girl was spotted running as a stray with her siblings in Chester, SC, in June 2025. They were just puppies at the time, and we believe they had been abandoned there. With patience and time, their finders earned their trust, and once they did, the pups followed them home and into the yard for safety. For the next few months, Henrietta lived primarily outdoors in the finders’ backyard, coming inside during inclement weather. The family found a home for one of her siblings and reached out to rescue to ensure Henrietta and her brother, Steve, would also find safe, loving homes. While they are good buddies, Henrietta and Steve are now in separate foster homes, learning about home life and building their confidence, and both are doing well.  Henrietta has been in her foster home for almost a month and is learning to trust and come out of her shell. At first, she was shy and shut down; home life, everyday noises, collars, and leash walks were all completely new to her. The backyard she lived in for those six months was the only home she had ever known. She is fortunate to be fostered by seasoned fosters Laine and Gary, along with their pack of three dogs, who have helped many fosters successfully transition to family dog. Henrietta is very submissive and quickly found her place in the pack, learning by watching and following the older dogs. Because of this, we believe she would do best in a home with another social. established dog who can be a role model. In return, she will make an excellent pack member. While she’s still shy around sudden loud noises and quick movements, Henrietta has started to engage with Laine and Gary and is not fearful of people, just shy. She is a very sweet soul with a gentle nature and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body, but she does need time to trust and get comfortable with new things.  She has a medium energy level, with the occasional zoomies, but overall is quite moderate for a young pup. She crates well and has already shown good house manners. Henrietta has started going on pack walks now, and while her tail was tucked initially, she gets more confident with every exposure. Henrietta loves soft, comfy beds and toys and feels most confident when she’s part of a pack. This sweet girl continues to blossom each day and is going to make a wonderful family dog and loyal companion. **Preference will be given to families with another dog in the home.** Apply today! Story
Lucky is a great dog. He is very affectionate with people he knows and with strangers. He likes to be petted and given belly rubs and he loves being outside. He is house trained and knows some simple commands. He has a generally low energy level but can be very energetic for short periods when playing with our other dog. We got Lucky from a shelter in 2020 when he was 3 1/2 years old. We have always lived places with fenced yards since then, but now we have had to move to an apartment. Lucky gets along well with our other dog , but he can be reactive around other dogs when he is taken out on a leash for walks. He enjoys his walks and walks pretty well on a leash except when he sees another dog, then he pulls strongly on the leash in the direction of the other dog, but he has never fought or bitten another dog. I am getting older and less able to physically manage him on walks, which now need to be done daily in areas around other dogs. Lucky would be happy to have a home with a yard.
