This 6-year-old Retriever mix spent a year and a half in a loving home, where he proved himself to be a smart, fun, and loyal companion. What Rufus loves:• Car rides with the windows down• Long walks, hikes, and even runs• Chew toys galore• Showing off his tricks — sit, down, come, and paw! He’s house-trained, independent, and always up for an outdoor adventure. He’s got a little mischievous streak (trash can raider alert), but that’s part of his charm.Rufus did well with the family dog in his previous home, though he can be selective with unfamiliar dogs. A meet-and-greet is recommended for any future dog siblings. He will chase outdoor cats, birds, and wildlife — so a secure backyard and attentive handler are a plus. He can get vocal when he’s excited or wants attention, especially in the kennel, but he settles well in a home environment.Rufus is the perfect match for an active adopter who wants a loyal sidekick to explore the world with. Story
Gesso is a 1yr old, 85lb, golden retriever/akbash mix. He's neutered, house broken, knows basic commands, walks well on a leash and is up to date on his rabies vax. He is a very energetic boy who needs an active home, preferably with a large yard or property to roam. He has been raised with our two young kids, 3 and 2yrs, and is good with them but often knocks them over because he's so rambunctious. He's good with other dogs, after a slow introduction, and would love to have another dog in the home to play with. He has an environmental allergy that makes him itchy sometimes. We've managed this with a low-dose Prednisone when we see it flare up. Gesso is a good boy but with a new baby and 2 toddlers we just don't have the time to exercise him and give him the attention he needs.

Story
Blaeberry came to us unexpectedly from a friend. After several unsuccessful attempts to return her to her original owner, we stepped in to care for her. Blae is a gentle, sensitive dog with a naturally timid personality. When we later added another dog to our home, it became clear that Blae is happiest as an only dog or in a very carefully managed environment. While both dogs are safe and well cared for, keeping them fully separated has been challenging, and we realized Blae would truly thrive in a home better suited to her needs. Blae is 4 years old and is incredibly sweet once she feels comfortable. She loves cuddles, and relaxing in the sun. She’s very intelligent and observant, though she can be a bit stubborn at times and will benefit from a consistent routine and clear boundaries. This has been a very difficult decision, as we love Blae dearly, but we know she deserves a calm, patient home where she can feel secure and be someone’s special companion. She has so much love to give!
