Story
Hello, future family! I’m Maris Piper, and I’m here to tell you I’m basically the golden retriever version of sunshine, sparkles, and all the zoomies. I’m 30lbs, 7 months old and full of the kind of energy that would make a caffeinated squirrel look lazy. If you’re looking for a dog that will follow you everywhere (and I do mean everywhere), then you’ve found me! Curious how a gorgeous pup like me ended up with PPFT? Well, I actually came from one of my former human’s friends when I was just a tiny 8-week-old pup. I was so little, and they were excited to have me – but let’s just say they quickly realized that I might need a little more attention and training than they had expected. My previous family’s schedule was crazy – they worked night shifts, and weekends, and were super busy with other commitments. So, as much as they loved me, they just couldn’t give me the time and attention I needed to become the best puppy ever. They realized that I deserved someone who could give me all the care and training I need, so they reached out to Pyr Paws to help me find my perfect forever family. Now I’m here, and I’m ready to learn and grow into an even better version of myself! Now, let’s get the serious stuff out of the way: I’m a smart girl, but I still need a little help learning all the things – like not chewing your favorite pair of shoes or trying to play fetch with the broom. But with your patience and some training, I’ll become the bestest girl. Just think of all the potential! I already know that my favorite thing in the world is chewing on toys and bones (not to brag, but I’m pretty sure I’m a chew toy connoisseur). I can even get my foster auntie Evelyn – the resident golden – to join in on the fun! I’ve got this luxurious, fluffy coat that practically begs to be petted (go ahead, I dare you to stop). Oh, and my curly tail? It’s basically a built-in happiness meter – it’s always wagging like I’m about to get a treat, even if it’s just me spotting a leaf. Would I do well with other dogs? Oh, absolutely! I’m a social butterfly with four paws! I love to play, and I’ve been known to get my foster auntie Evelyn into some serious game sessions. As long as your dog doesn’t mind my enthusiasm and occasional puppy clumsiness, I’d be thrilled to have a playmate. As long as you give me all the attention, exercise, and training I crave (and trust me, I do crave it), I’ll be happy as a solo pup too. I’m the type of dog that wants to be with you all the time – so if you're looking for a one-on-one companion who'll follow you around like a fluffy shadow, I'm your girl. How about cats? Well… I think cats are just another opportunity for playtime! You know, I’m still in my puppy phase and sometimes I forget that not everyone is as into zoomies as I am. So, if you have a cat, please be prepared for some puppy exuberance. I’ll definitely try to be friends, but I might need a few reminders that the cat doesn’t want to play "tag" If your cat has the patience of a saint (or prefers a nice game of hide-and-seek), then we might get along. How do I feel about kids? Oh, children! They’re like the ultimate fun-sized humans, and I’m totally into them! But, I have to admit, I’m still at that "baby shark" stage – you know, the stage where everything is chewable, including fingers, shoes, and maybe even hair (don’t worry, I’m working on it!). So, I’d do best in a home with older kids – teens who can handle a puppy with big, slobbery kisses and a tendency to play rough. If you’re looking for a gentle, calm pup to snuggle with toddlers, I might be a little much for them right now – but with some training, I’ll get there! Car rides? I will happily attempt to ride shotgun if you’ll let me (I’m just that confident), but I’m also cool with being buckled in for safety. Safety first, right? I'll probably sit up and look out the window, just keeping an eye on the world as it passes by – there’s so much to see! I’m still learning to chill, so I may need a little guidance to stay calm during the ride, but hey, who wouldn't get excited for a car adventure? Public outings? Okay, here's the deal: I love people, places, and things. I’m all about the social life and meeting new friends! But, since I’m still working on finishing up my vaccine schedule (gotta keep my immune system in tip-top shape), I’m more of a homebody for now but I do think I would love it. Being a homebody? Oh, for sure! I’m totally okay with being a homebody – I mean, think of all the bones to chew and toys to scatter around the house! I’ll keep myself entertained, especially if you’ve got a comfy spot on the couch for me to curl up in. While I do love my zoomies in the yard, I’m equally content with a quiet afternoon napping by your side or hanging out while you do your thing. Leash Temperament? Oh, the leash! The moment I see it, I know adventure is calling, and I get SO excited! I might act like I’ve never seen a leash before and pull like I’m trying to get to the park yesterday. I do prefer a harness – you know, for maximum puppy comfort – and I like to zig-zag like I'm on a mission to sniff out everything. I’m a super smart girl, though, so if you’re consistent with me (treats help!), I’ll learn to walk like a pro. Right now, we’re still working on the whole "don’t pull like a freight train" thing, but hey, I'm only 7 months old, so I’m getting there! Meeting new people? Hold on tight. When I meet new people, I get SO excited! I might jump on you like you're my long-lost best friend, or I might get a little barky (I’m just trying to say, "Hello, I'm awesome!"), and I’ll definitely offer my paw like I’m ready to seal the deal with some pets. Don’t worry though – I’m working on it! With a little patience and some guidance, I’ll soon be the kind of dog who greets people with a calm, "Hi, I’m Maris. Nice to meet you!" (but let’s be real, I'll always be excited to make new friends). What’s my overall temperament? Oh, where do I even start? I am the definition of happy-go-lucky! I’ve got so much energy that it’s like I’ve been plugged into an infinite power source. I could literally play with the other dogs all day long and still have enough energy to chew on every toy in sight. Playtime is life – if I had it my way, we'd be playing fetch forever. It’s the best thing in the whole world! Seriously, I will bring that ball back so many times, you’ll wonder if I’m secretly a golden retriever professional athlete. I’m an active girl who loves to stay busy – I need to be constantly engaged, whether that’s running around the yard, playing with my doggie friends, or just hanging out with you and my favorite toys. If you’ve got another dog for me to play with, you’re in luck – I’ll have a blast running around with them. If not, don’t worry, I’ll still keep myself entertained with my toys or with you! But trust me, I’ll need plenty of stimulation and activity to keep my mind and body busy. I’m one of those dogs that thinks every minute is an opportunity for fun, and I’m not slowing down anytime soon! I’m a smart and active golden retriever puppy, and I’ve got boundless energy to match. If you’re looking for a dog who will always be excited to see you and is ready for the next adventure, I’m your girl. Just be ready for a lot of playtime and a whole lot of joy – because with me, life is always in motion! Would I do well in an apartment? Well, here's the thing: I’m talkative and barky at times – I’m just trying to communicate, OK? If you’ve got neighbors who appreciate my enthusiastic "conversations" (they're mostly about snacks, playtime, and life in general), then maybe we’ll be a good fit. But if your apartment is super quiet and everyone loves peace and quiet... well, I may be a bit too chatty for that lifestyle. So, I’d say an apartment could work as long as we have enough room to play and you don’t mind me sharing my thoughts with the world! Am I kennel trained? Yep, I’m a pro! Do I get on the couch? Oh, yes. The couch is the best – so soft, so comfy. If there’s a spot open, you better believe I’m claiming it. I’ll curl up with you for snuggles, or just take over the whole thing if I’m feeling like a princess (because I totally am). Do I chew on things other than toys? Uh-oh. You’ve been warned – I’m a puppy! And puppies like to chew... on everything. Shoes, socks, the corner of a coffee table… if I can get my mouth on it, it’s fair game. I’ll need a puppy-proof home where things are safe from my teeth. But don’t worry, I’ll get better with time and training. Promise! Potty training? Let’s just say I was living my best wild child life in my former home. My humans didn’t know any better, and pretty much let me do as I please! There were no rules, no boundaries – just lots of playtime and, well, a bit of chaos. I didn’t always understand where I should go potty and wasn't exactly taught proper manners. But don’t worry – I’m learning so much in my foster home! I’m not proud of my puppy antics back then, but hey, I was just a girl trying to figure out the world! With the right guidance, I’m becoming the best girl I can be, and I promise I’m worth the effort. If you’re patient with me, I’ll be on my best behavior in no time! I’m looking for a forever home. Not a "until something happens" home. I’m all in – paws, tail, and heart. I’m ready to be your dog for the long haul. I want to grow with you, share all the fun adventures, and even help out during the rough days with my endless love and puppy energy. But I need someone who’s in it for the long term, not just until life gets too busy or something changes. I don’t want to be the dog you’re thinking of rehoming when a new baby comes along or when life shifts in unexpected ways. I want to be your constant, your fluffy sidekick, your loyal companion who’s there through thick and thin. I’m ready to be your forever dog. Are you ready to make me a part of your family for the long run? Because I promise, with me, you’ll always have a best friend by your side! 📍 Pickup In Midwest City, OK
