Story
Meet Winger, your future furry friend and champion napper, often found snoozing in cozy spots. He loves chewing on Benni bones and can destroy fluffy toys in seconds! Winger enjoys exploring outside and soaking up the sun. He eagerly comes when called and showers you with affection. Friendly with new people, he loves to sniff everything, especially food. While he usually ignores most cats, he may get annoyed with younger ones wanting to play. Winger is ready to bring joy and companionship to your home! Winger is part of our Senior Soulmate Program. If he is adopted by a senior citizen, a generous donor will sponsor his adoption fee, and he will come with six months of heart worm protection. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   November 26, 2025, 2:42 pm

Story
Meet Skittles! 🐾 Skittles is a ~2-year-old, 50-pound doodle mix with a BIG personality and an even bigger love for fun. She’s an absolute goofball who keeps everyone smiling with her playful antics and joyful energy. She has settled beautifully into foster life and adjusted quickly to her new routine and furry friends. Skittles adores other dogs and lives for playtime — if you’re looking for a dog who will happily wrestle, chase, and invite friends to play with a classic play-bow (front end down, butt in the air, complete with a little happy foot tap dance), she’s your girl. She would thrive in a home with a canine playmate. Skittles is doing amazing with house training and has had no accidents in her foster home. She’s accustomed to going out in a physically fenced yard, which has worked very well for her. She crates well while her foster mom is at work and generally does great — she may whine a bit at times, but overall settles nicely. On leash, Skittles does fairly well and just needs some continued practice to polish her skills. Inside the house, her favorite spot is perched proudly on top of a raised dog bed layered with a fluffy bed — comfort is clearly important to this girl! Cats are unknown; she would likely try to play and may not fully understand feline boundaries. Skittles is a happy, social, playful dog who is ready to bring laughter, movement, and companionship into the right home. If you’re looking for a fun-loving dog with a goofy streak and a heart for other dogs, Skittles might just be your perfect match. Skittles is fostered in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Her adoption fee is $275.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
At 2 years old & 61 pounds, Abby came from a puppy mill but has a gentle spirit and a heart full of love. She thrives on affection, happily soaking up pets and attention, and accepts grooming time with grace. Her beautiful dark golden coat shines almost as brightly as her personality. She is still learning the joy of playing with toys but has learned what a good bone is and already shows how well behaved she is for her age! While she will go in a crate when asked, she much prefers being near her people, where she feels most at home. She walks nicely on a leash, enjoys stretching her legs in a fenced yard, and delights playing with other dogs though she’d be just as content being the only dog in the family. Cats are still an unknown for her. She’s making great progress with potty training and even gives cues when it’s time to go outside. Instead of the couch, she chooses her soft doggy bed on the floor, proving she knows exactly what makes her comfortable. With her sweet nature and loyal heart, Abby is patiently waiting to complete a family’s story—bringing joy, companionship, and endless love to her forever home. Abby is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $450.00. Story
WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org Meet Elsa – The Golden-Hearted Girl Who Never Stopped Believing in Love At 8 months old and 48 pounds, Elsa is a beautiful Golden Retriever–Great Pyrenees mix who somehow ended up with all the Golden personality and only the Pyrenees fluff. Sweet, friendly, eager, affectionate—this girl is sunshine in dog form. If Golden Retrievers had a motivational speaker division, Elsa would be the CEO. But her start wasn’t golden at all. Elsa spent her whole puppyhood tied to a tether outside a trailer, watching the world from a spot of dirt she never deserved. No toys. No soft beds. No one to run to. No one to run with. And yet… her heart never quit. When she first came to us, she had a little food aggression around other dogs—understandable when you’ve never known if your next meal was guaranteed. But with time, consistency, and the realization that she’s finally safe, Elsa has blossomed beautifully. She’s now doing wonderfully with her dog friends and has never shown an ounce of aggression toward people. Humans, in her eyes, are made of magic—especially the ones willing to pet her. And oh, does she love to be loved. She leans in, she wiggles, she smiles with her whole face. She gives love like she’s been storing it up for months—because she has. Elsa deserved so much more than what she got in her puppy months, but she refuses to dwell on the past. She’s too busy soaking up cuddles, handing out kisses, and living her best “I’m finally free!” life. Her capacity for forgiveness and joy would put most of us to shame. This girl is resilient, goofy, grateful, and ready. Ready for a family. Ready for a home. Ready to love—and to be loved back. If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle, funny, deeply affectionate companion with a heart big enough to light up your whole house… Elsa is your girl. Apply today at haydududeequine.org, and get ready to welcome a brave, bouncy, golden-hearted miracle into your arms, heart and home!! 🐾
