Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application ›   Hi there! I’m Biscuit, a loyal 85-pound golden mix, and yes, I’m as soft and huggable as I look! At two years old, I’ve got a nice balance of youthful energy and a relaxed, laid-back nature. I’m a simple guy at heart – give me my space, my treats, and someone who wants a true-blue buddy, and I’m happy. Now, let’s talk honesty: I’d be happiest as the only pet in the house. I’ve grown up with a dog buddy and a cat, but I’m just not one for sharing my space (or my treats!) without getting a little protective. My humans and a professional trainer have worked with me a lot, but resource guarding is still a part of who I am. Because of that, I’m looking for a home with no kids or other pets – just you and me, against the world. If you’re the kind of person who wants a loyal, watchful companion and maybe a bit of a guard dog, I could be your guy. I love a good tug-of-war match, a hike in the woods, or a stroll around the neighborhood, but honestly? I’m just as content chilling by your side. So if you’re ready for a big, loyal friend who’s happiest by your side and looking out for you, I might just be your Biscuit.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 12, 2024, 12:53 pm

Story
She came to a rural TN shelter after Animal Control was called to a property where a mama golden retriever was shot and killed by a dealer when he didnt get payment for the drugs he sold. 3 of her siblings died of starvation before Animal Control was called. Drug addiction is heartbreaking but still no excuse for animal cruelty. Cary has been a bottle baby since she was just a week old, so she is quite comfortable with humans. Ive fed her every 2 hours around the clock for 5 weeks now and loved every minute of getting to know her silly personality. Shes a snuggler- she prefers to fall asleep on my chest after a feeding but will lower her standards to her stuffies if needed. She loves other dogs and isnt the slightest bit scared of my crew of large dogs. Shes been raised around cats and learned quickly to ignore them. Shes smart and will LOVE training. We believe she is a golden retriever x labrador retriever cross, based on the animals on the property from which she was confiscated. Cary deserves a home that will spoil her rotten. She will likely be a large dog. She will definitely be a good dog. All our dogs/cats are vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, on preventions, and spayed/neutered if old enough. Story
Sophie and Russell are two Golden Retrievers who have survived the trauma of a house fire and are now looking for a forever home where they can stay together. They are deeply bonded and rely on each other for comfort, so it's essential they be adopted as a pair. Due to their traumatic experience, they have specific needs. They require a home with no other pets, as they thrive best when they have undivided attention from their humans. A solid 6ft fence is necessary, as they are high flight risks, and it's important that their yard is secure. Inside the home, Sophie and Russell prefer to have free roam of the space, or at least within designated limits, as they like to stay close to their humans. They are calm and spend most of their day sleeping, but they will follow you around for security. Given their past, Sophie and Russell need someone who is home most of the time. When left alone, they have been known to chew on doors or molding due to anxiety, so secure caging or keeping them in a safe room when unsupervised is crucial. Additionally, their adoptive home should have secure windows with solid shutters, as they are escape artists and could attempt to flee if they feel anxious or unsafe. The ideal adopter will understand the trauma  Sophie and Russell have experienced and be prepared to manage their behaviors, such as chewing or escaping, with patience and care. Though they may present some challenges, they are incredibly loving and loyal, seeking constant companionship from their humans. If given the right environment, they will bring comfort and gratitude to their new home.
