Meet Marceline Dion (Marcy)! She is going on 3 years old. She is a purebred field golden. She is spayed and up to date on shots. Marcy is crate trained, house trained, works well on most leashes (we prefer a gentle leader or martingale!) and good with every person she's ever met! Her favorite thing in the world is playing fetch with her ball (or even holding the ball in her mouth while outside). Unfortunately she has a high prey drive and does not get along with our resident dog and cat. Although she was socialized as a pup, there is suspected inbreeding that has caused some behavioral issues like anxiety and agression at times towards animals. She takes Trazadone and Fluoxetine which has helped with anxiety. She also gets walked at least an hour daily which is another favorite activity of hers. Marcy would do well in a single pet home with an owner who can be around to give her the attention and exercise she needs!

Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! Archie is a 5-year-old Irish Doodle that we've had since he was a 3-month-old puppy. He is very energetic and requires a lot of exercise. I thought I could train him, but it proved to be a daunting task. Unfortunately, he is quite anxious, and certain external situations exacerbate his anxiety. I get him groomed every 3–4 months with a mobile groomer and sedative medication. Additionally, I give him daily medication to help manage his anxiety throughout the day. Recently, he has become more aggressive toward me and other family members. We are currently planning for a baby and feel that, given the circumstances mentioned before, keeping him would be impossible for us. We would love to match him with a great new home.
