Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Nala is a beautiful young golden retriever who is learning rules and boundaries in her foster home.  She is anxious and fearful at times but with a steady schedule and routine we are really starting to see her blossom.  Nala is uneasy and nervous around children so she cannot be placed in a home with them or in a home where they visit regularly.  Nala is very nervous of her collar and harness being touched.  We are diligently working on her crate anxiety so no shared walls and she cannot be left unattended outside of the crate due to her not understanding that certain items shouldn’t be chewed.   Nala seems to be ok with other dogs and cats but we haven’t fully introduced her as she is unsure but has had no reaction to seeing them through a gate.  She enjoys walks and playing with a tennis ball.  She is potty trained and has not had an accident here in the few weeks I’ve had her.  Nala needs an experienced owner who will go slow with her and not introduce her to everything at once. She needs to go at her pace.  Getting her into a training program will be key in bonding with her and allowing her to be the dog I know she can be with patience and guidance.  Nala is from an owner surrender. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. Story
Dunne, which is pronounced “Dune,” is a very special boy who made the journey all the way from Afghanistan to come live in Minnesota. He is a sweet, gentle, 50 pound golden mix born 1/1/22. He is starting to adjust to his new surroundings and has learned so much in the last few weeks. Poor boy has not had much for socialization, we are working with him but needs more time to learn to "be a dog" we recommend he is the only dog for a while. Dunne loves to be around his people so much that being kenneled is hard for him. He is not a fan of the kennel, he gets calming treats when we have to leave or when he has to be in his kennel. He loves car rides and loves to be brushed and pet. He nudges your hand for neck scratches. He also loves getting a bath. He is very concerned about pleasing others and is easily trained.  He has a very mild, sweet disposition with a low energy level. He would probably love a doggie companion to help show him how cool it is to be a dog in the USA. He will be a dedicated companion with lots of love to give. Dunne is a blank canvas and would love to have a person that will love him and teach him how to be the dog he knows he wants to be.   We’ve got some exciting news about this pup’s age! Thanks to DNA testing from Embark, we’ve got a fresh take on how old they really are. A big shoutout to Embark for generously donating these tests for us to explore! You might spot a difference between Embark's findings and our original guess—after all, no test or person is 100% accurate. It’s all part of the adventure!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $425.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 5:33 pm

Story
Hi! I’m Gypsy! I am a golden retriever mix who’s at that golden age stage where I’m not as active as a puppy but not as slow as a senior. I am about 3yrs old (10/2021). Unfortunately, through no fault of my own, I was bounced around a bit between different owners, so I haven’t had a stable home yet. But that’s where YOU come in! I’m hoping my sweet golden eyes with entice you to welcome me into your home forever. With my past of being bounced around, I do have some anxiety (more so in a kennel for long periods) but I do take a daily anxiety medication that helps. Just put it in a pill pocket and I’ll gobble it right up with my morning meal. This HAS to be given EVERY morning. It is NOT a medication that can be given every so often or to be stopped suddenly on. My foster mom highly, highly recommends that I stay on it life long due to the unstable rough beginning I have had. I love playing with toys, kids, and other dogs. I have been known to be more of a dominant female, but only to some female dogs. I like to sniff cats at first, but then will completely ignore them. I ride great in a car – I love looking out the windows! I am crate trained (although may whine a little at the start knowing you’re going) & house trained. I am a great mix of calm and activity, as you see I will cuddle with you on the couch during the movie times but also would love to have zoomies in a yard or go for a run. Won’t you please be my forever?  I would be yours forever as long as I'm Your brown-eyed girl Do you remember when we used to sing? Story
This is Hazey, a 5-year-old female golden retriever weighing about 60 pounds. Until she was rescued by NDLB, her entire life was spent being bred. As a result, Hazey is very scared of people; she tries her absolute hardest to be invisible. Hazey chooses to spend most of the day in her safe spots, but has started to explore the house and will sometimes hang out in the living room with us. She is not an active dog - she’d much rather snooze the day away. Getting her out of the kennel to go potty may take some maneuvering, especially at first. In our home, she’s now at the point where she will walk herself in and outside for potty breaks. She’s had very few accidents which mostly occur when she’s scared. Hazey is terrified of the leash and is easily startled, which makes her a flight risk. As such, a fully fenced and secured yard is required for her safety. Hazey lives with a 70lb dog and has been exposed to other dogs of varying sizes. She isn’t too interested in them at the moment, although she does look to the other dogs for guidance and they do provide comfort for her. For this reason, Hazey would do best in a home with a patient and well-adjusted dog that can show her the ropes. She hasn’t been exposed to cats but would likely do just fine with them. Hazey also hasn’t been around kids and would do best in a home without children. She prefers quiet and calm. This sweet beautiful girl needs time to decompress and adjust to her new life after years of neglect. If you are someone with a big heart and lots of patience, please apply!  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Meet Jessie, a 2 year old Golden Retriever/Poodle mix.  Jessie has been through so much in her past and has made quick and excellent progress in a very short time!  She has been great with the cat in her foster home. She also did a great job with her foster family's two young neighbor children who wanted to pet her.  She has a fairly good appetite, a little particular about what food she likes.  Jessie has been getting better with giving her foster family a clue that she needed to go out the backyard to go number two. When taken out, they take her on a long leash (being a breeder release, her foster family wants to make extra sure she stays safe). She will need patience with her potty breaks, as she will circle several times and it can take up to 5 minutes and then when she feels comfortable, she will go. However, she continues to make significant progress! Her foster family is working on making her comfortable with loud and certain noises such as the vacuum, pots, pans, etc. Jessie went for her first car ride without the kennel recently and did great! She really seemed to enjoy riding in the back seat of the truck. She is a pretty good walker on the leash. She really, really loves her foster mom, so much so that she may cry and bark at night while in her kennel when she is out of sight. Jessie recently had her grooming session and with her matted coat now shaved away, she is now showing signs that she wants to run around and start playing with toys! She met the neighbor's respectful senior dog recently and they really liked each other. Jessie was trying to engage in some sort of play with her. She loves her humans, and is an absolute sweetheart!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue.
