Story
Hello, I’m Red, the ultimate Golden Retriever wonder pup! At just 6 months old and weighing 33 lbs., I’m the perfect combination of playful puppy energy and golden-hearted sweetness. I’m adventurous, affectionate, and enthusiastic -- the absolute sweetest boy who greets every day and everybody with a happy tail and a big, wiggly welcome!
General Behavior: Red is a social butterfly who thrives on interaction. Whether he’s playing fetch, wrestling with his favorite toys, or snuggling up for belly rubs, he’s happiest when he’s engaged with his people or furry friends. Red has just discovered how comfy the couch is, so be ready for a sofa buddy who’s happy to claim his spot next to you!
Likes & Dislikes: This boy LOVES his toys—seriously, the more, the better! Playtime is his favorite time, whether it’s a game of tug, zoomies in the yard, or simply rolling around with his favorite squeaky toy. He also adores people of all ages and gets along beautifully with kids, showing a gentle side while supervised around little ones. He’s food-motivated, which makes training a breeze. The only thing he doesn’t like? Being bored! He needs lots of play, mental stimulation, and chew-approved toys to keep him entertained.
Training: For a young pup, Red is already ahead of the game! He’s house-trained if taken out routinely and walks well on a leash. At night, he sleeps soundly in his safe space, and when left alone, he hangs out in his rest area with his favorite chew toys. He’s eager to learn and would love a family who will continue his training with fun, positive reinforcement.
Medical: When Red first arrived in our care, we noticed a slight limp. A veterinary exam revealed an old fracture in his left rear femur that healed improperly, affecting his knee. However, he walks well and shows no signs of discomfort or pain. And just like any other dog, he will need to continue on all current preventatives, including flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
Other Animals: This social guy loves other dogs and would enjoy playdates with canine companions if he’s the only pup in the home. Although he has not been tested with cats, it is believed he would do well with them.
Children: He’s also fantastic with kids of all ages and seems to have a natural instinct to be gentle around younger children.
Home: Red would do well in an apartment, condo, or house, as long as he gets plenty of daily exercise and playtime. Puppy energy is a very real thing! He does best with someone who is home more often than not since he thrives on companionship. Whether it's human snuggles or playtime with other dogs, this smart boy enjoys staying engaged.
Grooming: With his beautiful coat, Red needs regular brushing to keep him looking his best. He also requires routine nail trims, but he takes it all in stride—especially if there are treats involved!
Overall: Red is an athletic and clever pup who is looking for a fun-loving family to match his energy and affection. He’s an energetic, happy-go-lucky boy who will bring endless joy to the lucky humans who adopt him. If you’re looking for a best friend who will keep you laughing, keep you active, and smother you with love, Red is your guy!
