Story
Gypsy is a sweet golden that loves people. She's is playful and loves tossing stuffed animals around. She has bouts of puppy energy but also sleeps away the day.  Gypsy's life hasn't been all rainbows and sparkles. She was a breeding dog that has had at least one litter. She's currently struggling with anxiety that we are trying to help her through it. There are times where she's too spooked to go outside because of noises. She has accidents in the house when this happens. Her foster has nicknamed her Pancake because when she doesn't want to do something all 75lbs of her are going nowhere. This includes going on a walk or getting in a car. Because she hasn't discovered the glory of daily walks yet, she will need a 6ft securely fenced yard. Adopter must be able to pick up a 75lbs dog bent on being dead weight. She is as stubborn as she is sweet. Gypsy has been sweet to every person she's met. She's done well with the other dogs in the home and the longer she's been in her foster home the more she plays with them. She has shown resource guarding over toys and blankets with the other pups. It is getting better but if she's going to be in a multidog household the other dog(s) must be okay with her having toys to herself and her stealing toys from them because they are hers... all hers.  She's come a long way so far, but she will need lots of love and patience as she adjusts to her new lifestyle.  Apply online at (www.lolasrescue.com)! You can email Info@lolasrescue.com anytime with questions pertaining to animals in our care.  **Dogs in a foster home will need to have a preapproved application on file before setting up meet and greets. ** ##2199371##

All people inquiring about pets listed as Courtesy Listings on the EAPL website and/or EAPL posting adoption boards should contact the current pet owner/rescue/shelter for answers to any questions and for final approval and placement. Please do not contact EAPL  about courtesy listings. The pet owner/rescue/shelter and new owner shall make all arrangements on transferring the pet, information on history, vaccines, etc.  Please contact, William Evergreen, Colorado 303-888-8658 for information on adopting Thorn. Meet Thorn...Backstory:  A couple who is/was homeless had been allowed to board their dog there most of the summer. They took him when they left town and have been living in their car since August with their dog. This past weekend they reached out to my daughter and surrendered Thorn to her. We had them sign a PETA surrender/release form so we have that in file. They cannot come back and try to regain custody of this poor guy. Unfortunately, we have no fence and no gate. We live right off Highway 74. Thorn has been sleeping in my daughter's room quite comfortably (Better than in a car) and seems more than content to just stay in her room as he is understandably a little stressed out. Our home does not offer a good long-term solution or a quality situation in which Thorn can thrive.  Thorn is a 4-year-old husky/golden mix. 70-75 pounds Good manners - Can sit and shake Housetrained - No accidents in our home since Monday Leash trained to a degree. He is enthusiastic when outdoors and enjoys his walks. Of course he is a little hyper after living in a car and now living in my daughter's room. He is chipped. He came from a shelter in Tennessee. We have a copy of his full medical records as well. Please contact, William Evergreen, Colorado 303-888-8658 for information on adopting Thorn.November 5, 2024, 2:57 pm

Story
Golden Puff was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2252132##

Story
Chip is a loving high energy dog who loves to play. He loves people and is always happy to get all the pets and snuggles. He is a chewer so ropes and nylabones are his favorite types of toys. He loves to go on walks, runs and hikes but is a puller when on a leash. He really loves open spaces and being able to run freely. He is good with dogs but can be overbearing which may lead to less energetic dogs becoming overwhelmed. Currently chip knows the commands: come, sit, down, off, leave it, drop it, place and relax. He is good with kids but again can be a little overbearing at times and needs further training to not jump.
