About Me Age: 10 months….Soju came into rescue from an Asian breeder/meat farm. He is a bundle of puppy energy and will need some dedicated training to get him to learn some basic manners. He loves to jump up on people and he hasn’t quite understood yet that not everyone wants to be jumped up on. We think he is trying to give hugs to everyone but he needs to learn that he can be just as loving without jumping up. At approximately 10 months old, he is not yet potty trained. He has been using pee pads in his foster home, but he needs to learn, and will require someone to show him that its best to do his business outside. Soju is smart but he does have a very high energy level and he commands a lot of attention. He loves to play and walk. He does pull on his leash so further training when walking is required as well. He also likes to walk right in front of you when out walking, so you need to be careful not to trip. Soju loves to play with toys, balls, and games of fetch. He is also a big fan of bubbles and would love to have you blow bubbles in his face that he could then chase after. It is unknown how he would do with a cat but he does get along with most dogs he has met. He is very playful. As a puppy, you need to watch him carefully. He likes to chew and has been caught chewing some things he shouldn’t have. He is also a strong counter surfer and will seize any opportunity he gets to jump up to check things out. Soju is allegedly crate trained but his foster mom is not using a crate with him so it’s unknown how he would do with a crate now. He does sleep fine on a dog bed in the living room. When he first arrived at his foster home, he was a bit afraid of the 18-month old child that was curious about him. He likely has not seen many little people. But he warmed up and now he is really good with the baby. Though he does knock her over so one has to be careful and not leave him unsupervised. He has never shown any signs of aggression. Soju is on the smaller side at only 50 lbs. but he is still a growing boy. Soju sure is handsome! He made a couple of appearances at some events that SCGRR participated in and he was a hit! All the kids loved him and he enjoyed greeting everyone (by jumping up on them!) and getting pets from lots of loving hands. My Ideal Home Soju will do best in a home where it is OK to have some pent up energy. He has the potential to be a great dog for some lucky family. But it will take some dedication to get him to learn how to be that great dog. A home with a yard would be great for him to be able to run around and release all that energy. Otherwise, a day with lots of walks and play times would be OK too. Soju would do great with another dog or he can be the apple of your eye and would love to get all the attention in the room! Soju will be happiest with a family that can provide the exercise and stimulation he needs to become a great, well-behaved dog. He loves company and activity. He will benefit greatly from obedience training and puppy classes. Want to Adopt me?
