I don't really react to other dogs and I can walk in tandem with another dog, but I can be a bit testy in playgroups at the kennel so as a safety precaution I wear a muzzle. Hi! My name is Chance and I'm at the Santa Maria Campus. I'm a 2 year old, male, Chow Chow /Shepherd Mix, who came to SB Humane to find a new loving home. I am the epitome of adventure and boundless enthusiasm bundled into a furry, four-legged friend. With a coat as golden as the sun and eyes that gleam with curiosity, I'm not just a dog, but a companion on every journey. Born to explore, this smiley and friendly canine has a knack for turning ordinary outings into extraordinary escapades. Beyond the adventures and the occasional mischief (like chasing squirrels or rolling in mud), there's a clever mind behind this goofy demeanor. I love a good snuggle in your lap, even though some might say I am too big for that. I enjoy zooming around with my friends in the yard and love to bask in the sun. Interested in meeting me? Cliff was saved from a rural shelter north of Los Angeles. He was a staff favorite and came in as a stray. He is great with everyone but he doesn’t know his size, so older kids might be best. His foster family said that he is extremely playful (not hyper-just a young, happy dog), affectionate and wants to be where you are. He is a GIANT lap dog!

We adopted our Golden Retriever, Panda, as a puppy in 2017 and treated him like our child. He’s a loving, gentle dog who enjoys playing fetch and running on the beach. However, our lives have changed—we now have two young children and both work two jobs to afford living in California. We can no longer give Panda the time and attention he needs. Panda is a happy, friendly dog who has never been aggressive. Last year, he recovered from surgery for a mast cell tumor and is expected to have about seven more years to live. We’re looking for a new owner who can provide Panda with the active, loving home he deserves. No adoption fee is required, but a donation to a dog rescue organization would be appreciated. We hope to find a young person without children, or someone whose children are grown. Please consider giving Panda a loving home and send us occasional photos to keep us updated on how he’s doing. Thank you.
