Story
! DOG FOUND: YUKIE !Hello, from Yukie the golden retriever puppy! Yukie is a big sweetheart that we enjoy having with us at SPARC but we want him to go home! We have his owner`s info, but the phone number on his microchip is not directly registered to his owner. We`ve left a message, but haven`t heard back yet. He was in the police kennels this morning (meaning SPPD dropped him off when we were closed) without any information on where he was found. Please share this post so hopefully she`ll see it and come pick up Yukie! Please be aware: Yukie is on Owner Redemption hold. This means we know his owner, and there is a 10-day hold for them to claim him. He is NOT available for adoption or meet and greets during this time, even though he is posted on our website. He cannot be legally seen by the public. Should he not be claimed within 10 days, then he will be available for adoption.

Available to foster or adopt!Breed: Golden Retriever X DOB: 3/2022 Gender: male Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: large Color(s): gold / white Description:***Needs a Foster Home***This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online foster application.Hi, I'm Smiley, a handsome Golden Retriever X rescued from a Salinas shelter where I was found as a stray. No one came to claim me and I was lucky enough to have many people follow through with their pledges to sponsor me so I could come into CARL's adoption program.I like toys and I'm very treat motivated. I'm very sweet meeting people, but I'm a big boy and tend to jump up a bit so although I haven't been around children, I would probably do best in a home with older bigger children. I don't really react to other dogs and I can walk in tandem with another dog, but I can be a bit testy in playgroups at the kennel so as a safety precaution I wear a muzzle. I hope it's not long before I'm a cherished member of a loving family. If you're interested in meeting me, please fill out an online application.*Thank you to all the people who are sponsoring this wonderful dog at the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary and giving him the chance for a better life.November 7, 2024, 11:05 am

Story
His name is Rocky, I got him when he was just a puppy, 2 months old to be exact, now he is 1 year and 9 month old, he is the sweetest dog, he loves people and loves to play with other dogs, he needs a lot of attention and care, perfect if you have kids in the house, unfortunately that’s one of the main reasons why i can’t no longer take care of him because I work a lot and I’m the only one that takes care of him in the house, since my parents can’t help me either because my dad works a lot too and my mom has to take care of my little baby sister, so my poor Rocky just stays in my room most of the time, and only waits for me to take him out late at night. This situation has gotten worse since we moved out to a new house and we didn’t tell the landlord we had a big dog, but a noisy neighbor noticed when I left him outside in the patio one day and told the landlord and unfortunately he has to go, if you have a big house and kids he is the perfect dog for your household, please help Rocky

Story
Meet Nugget! This young female pup is quiet and gentle, and is looking for a loving home to settle into. Nugget is a sweetheart who is a bit shy and reserved, but give her some love and attention and she'll warm right up to you. She would do best in a quiet home where she can relax and take her time adjusting. That being said, she'd love to go on nice walks and explore the world around her. she gets along with other dogs. She is a lovely girl who can't wait to meet you, so come down to the rescue and see if she is the pup for you!

Story
About Me  Age:  6 years...This darling girl is Amelia. One of our rescue supporters noticed Amelia was sadly running out of time at the shelter, and thankfully they stepped in to help ensure this sweet girl got another chance at life. Although she is clearly not a purebred golden, DNA analysis revealed that her predominant breed is, in fact, golden retriever. What we do know is that she is 100% adorable! When a friend of her fosters saw her for the first time, she exclaimed, “why, she looks like a woodland creature!” That idea stuck with us as it summed up her sweet, quizzical nature, watchful eyes, funny fuzzy feet, ears that don’t match, and super soft (low-shedding) fur you can sink your fingers into. This adorable woodland creature has completed her medical treatment for a horrific ear infection and is now ready to find her forever home.  Amelia is super easy-going. She likes to be near her people, but she is also content sunbathing alone in her backyard throughout the day or lying nearby watching her family. She doesn’t bark much. She has impeccable house manners (fully housebroken, no begging or counter surfing, doesn’t jump, is not destructive, sleeps great all night long) and can be left home alone without any issues. She enjoys her walks and is great in the car. She does not seem to be interested in toys or playing all that much, but perhaps that is because her current dog housemate isn’t really into those things either. Amelia hasn’t met a stranger she doesn’t love and happily rolls over for belly rubs when her foster grandchildren visit. Amelia is estimated to be about six years old and is mellow, but still has plenty of energy to join you on your adventures. She is short and stout and weighs 65 lbs. She is a smart girl who already knows some commands: come, sit, stay, and shake. Her foster family absolutely adore her! Amelia is a real gem who is going to seamlessly fit into her new family and enhance their lives immensely from day one.  My Ideal Home  Amelia would likely adapt to a variety of households. She is friendly with her current fosters’ dog, a super mellow male golden retriever. She has also met other male dogs that visited her home without an issue. However, she doesn’t seem to appreciate all dogs and greets dogs on-leash with a posture that reads “stay away.” She likely has some past trauma regarding other dogs, so she relies on her people to ask other owners to give her space on walks. She is not aggressive on leash, but she is not the type of dog that wants to go to a dog park, etc. She seems to be more receptive to meeting large male dogs. We do not think she would make a good companion for small dogs or active female dogs. She is perfectly happy just lounging around the house with her people, so perhaps she would do best as an only fur child with some people that are also homebodies. She appears to have a high prey drive towards squirrels, so we strongly feel she would not be a good fit for a home with a cat. Amelia is very sweet with the young children that frequently visit her foster home (ages 3, 5, and 7) and would likely do well in a home with respectful children or visiting grandchildren. She would also fit well into a quiet home with lower activity. She really enjoys exploring her backyard, so continuous access to a sunny outdoor space would be at the very top of her wish list. She is a very special dog looking for a special person to call her own.  Want to Adopt me?  If you believe your home is the perfect match for me, please make sure you have first submitted an adoption application and completed your home interview with a SCGRRescue Volunteer.
