Story
Hi, Lady is having medical issues, with a possible ear infection. She has been in a cone for several months, since my husband's deployment, when she also scratched her leg until it became infected. I am severely stressed and I believe it is affecting her. She does not get walked, the environment is not healthy for either of us. She needs medical care and a better home. I am stretched thin and need to find her a home ASAP, for us both. She will need to be seen for her ears, and updated shots. I am happy to pay for this care but I cannot provide it currently. She has never had these issues before. The current deployment and my two year old are making this unsustainable for us both. Please help lady and find her a home, she is a very good girl, she will take time to adjust and settle and feel like herself again after this stress. Give her patience and grace, she is not getting much at the moment.

Story
Meet Six!  He came to us after spending six months on a hill after escaping the shelter where he was housed.  Two months prior, he had been relinquised by a family reporting his primary peson for his first four years of life had passed away.  He was confused, scared and took off while on a walk with a volunteer.  With no sightings for months it was assumed he was gone forever until that first call came in of a dog needing help.  Six had taken up residence in the rough terrain of a college campus hillside where he could avoid the high traffic area with cars and people, he could stay hidden and come and go without being noticed.  Once trapped and identfied as the dog assumed gone forever we planned a way to make space so his shelter days were over and his rehab could begin. Six came to us clearly having had human experiences.  He knew Sit, Shake and once feeling safe welcomed touch, affection and even liked to lean.  Unfortunately due to a lack of life exposure before his shelter expeerience, trauma from six months on his own in survival mode or a combination of both Six struggled with anything beyond a calm and controlled environment.  He has spent the last few months working on his confidence and now enjoys his outings and is on the regular list of participants for pack walks and adoption events.  He LOVES food, is eager to please (or always seeks to not do wrong) and learns quickly with a calm approach.  He still struggles with meeing new men but once sure he is safe lets them completely in.  Don't let his age fool you.  He still acts lke he's two and looks forward to every opportunity to be the center of attention, play with those around him and avoids conflict with other dogs. He is now ready to graduate to a foster or foster to adopt home where he can refresh his real life skills rather than continue in a kennel setting.  He would do best with a neutral and balanced dog.  Due to his confidence building older children would be best.  He is an extreme flight risk so someone as committed to his safety as loving. him is a must.  Because of my Flight Risk I cannot be left unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures and my new family must be aware of open doors and windows.  No off leash activites for life in unfenced areas.  I need to stay safe.  Are you ready to help me land my forever? ##1958533##

Story
Meet Dynamite!DOB: September 2022Weight: 60 lbsDisposition: Outgoing, Confident, Fun-lovingHistory: Found on the streets of Afghanistan as a puppy with a mangled leg and rescued by KSAR (Kabul Small Animal Rescue). Brought to TBL in June 2024 during the airlift out of KSAR in Kabul. Eventually Dynamite's leg had to be removed as it couldn't be saved. Being a tripod doesn't slow him down in the least. He's nimble, fast, playful and active. Despite having only 3 legs, Dynamite will make a great walking or hiking companion. This guy has an eternal smile on his face and makes friends immediately with people he meets. He's fun-loving and playful with an enormously happy disposition! No one can have a bad day with Dynamite in the house. Best Home: A active couple or family who's invested in training their dog to teach him the ropes of American life. Dynamite will love Amazing Qualities: Eternal happiness! If you're interested in meeting this dog, please visit our website to fill out an adoption application: www.thebarkinglot.net/adoptOur dogs are located in San Diego County, CA.
