Story
Luna is an approximately 1.5-year-old golden retriever mix with a heartbreaking past, but an unyielding spirit. Luna's life began on the streets as a stray. At some point, she became a mother to a litter of puppies. Tragically, while her puppies were still very young, Luna was struck by a car, leaving her hind legs paralyzed and struggling to survive. A local resident noticed Luna dragging herself through the streets to find food for herself and her puppies. Soon after, Luna was rescued along with her puppies. However, due to limited resources, Luna eventually found her way to Baibao Rescue, where we've been committed to providing her with the care and attention she deserves. Through diligent rehabilitation in the last few months, Luna has shown impressive progress. Though her gait remains unsteady, she can now bear weight on her back legs and walk independently. While incontinence remains an issue, she has also made significant progress. She currently wears a diaper but we believe that with the right owner, she can further improve. Luna is a loving and friendly dog, despite her tragic past. Her playful curiosity brings joy to every day, as she explores her surroundings with newfound happiness. She gets along well with both cats and dogs. Luna loves to eat but kind of goes crazy over food and eats too quickly, understandable given her background but it's something prospective owners will need to keep in mind. Luna would not be suitable for a household with dogs that are food-protective. However, Luna's interest in food will make training her much easier. For Luna's forever home, we seek an experienced dog owner with the time and patience to continue her rehabilitation. An individual who works from home or is retired would be an ideal match, as Luna requires constant attention and support. Caring for a disabled dog is a responsibility, but the rewards are immeasurable as you witness her progress and thrive. If you're ready to provide the love and care Luna needs, she'll reward you with unwavering loyalty and affection. Let Luna's story be a testament to the resilience of animals in the face of adversity. Adopt Luna and give her the chance to experience the love and security she's deserves.

Story
Hi. I'm Creamy. Here's a bit about me: Breed: Golden Retriever mixAge: 2 yearsGender: femaleWeight: 25 kgHeight: 55 cm Updated bio: Hi there everybody - I have made my way to Canada. I am a super kind, and very playful pup! My left arm never grew to its full size when I was a baby due to a birth defect, I am always limping, but you wouldn’t know it when you see me play. I love to play with other dogs nonstop. I am extremely friendly, but I might be shy when you first meet me. It doesn’t take me long to warm up to people though. I will be on my back asking you for belly rubs in no time. I have mostly had exposure to smaller dogs and terriers, but I also get along really well with people and bigger dogs. You just need to give me a chance. I really hope to be able to come to Canada soon, because honestly, living in a shelter and limping around all the time it’s not the most ideal situation for me. I would love to be in a more comfortable environment with loving parents that will help me thrive and be the pup I want to be and have the life I deserve. I really hope that you will end up being my person! I am just a doll! I was rescued when I was only two months old. My mother had just given birth to a litter of puppies, and I was one of them! I was born without one leg. The man who called the shelter and informed them of me was able to adopt out all of the puppies, except for me, apparently because of my deformity. I know, I was very surprised as well! It doesn’t hinder me from doing anything! I’m actually extremely playful and love to play with other dogs! There is nothing that I can’t do! Well, except for growing another leg. But I don’t need to! I get along with:Dogs: yesKids: yesCats: unknown Prey drive: not observed, adopter needs to be willing to train me should these behaviors arise. Energy level: moderately high and active (very playful) Fears: I am not afraid of much. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training: noneLeash training: no. Please be prepared to train me.House trained: no. Please be prepared to help me learn! Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1675888##

Story
G'day. My name is DORIE (Dorla) and here is a little info about me:Breed: Golden Retriever/Lab mixAge: 5 yearsGender: femaleWeight: 25 kgHeight: 55 cm Dorie is very loved by her Canadian momma, but has to be rehomed due to health reasons. Here is what she has to say about her sweet girl: If you love being greeted at the door every time you come home with a smiling, tail-wagging dog with the biggest paws on the block, then please meet Dorie. This sweet, playful Golden Retriever/Lab cross loves spending time lounging around the house and having a spot to sleep in every room. She loves playing with tennis balls and durable stuffies. Dorie is an independent girl who can keep herself entertained with toys and puzzles, but would also benefit from having a playful friend around the neighbourhood to help her socialize more.  She is smart, and understands some basic commands (sit, lay down, shake a paw.) We have been working on recall and she does well on leash. Having a strong prey drive, Dorie will chase after small animals (including cats and small dogs). So household devoid of a cat or other small animals is needed. Dorie has been friendly meeting children, but has not been with them for any extended amount of time. She does well with women and has made some dog friends around the neighbourhood. There are some days where she will bark at other dogs, as well some men, but she is able to be redirected with consistent work.  Dorie would do better in a home with a yard where she could relax. Her preference is for shorter walks, and her recall is getting better, so has been having lots more off-leash time. She hasn’t wanted to try swimming yet, but has been out on a paddle board several times. Dorie loves food, treats, and jumping into the water to play. She sleeps well through the night, and sometimes even snores after a busy day! Once Dorie gets the zoomies, prepare for the cutest dog show ever. She would do well in a home that would allow her outdoor time, but also time to relax indoors. *** Hiya guys! One time, in my home country during the middle of the night, the city officials were killing the neighborhood dogs. I did some major sneaky work and ran away from the city officials into my rescuer’s father’s yard. Lucky for me, he had left the door open to take out the trash. I ran into his yard and hid in a box until I was found by my rescuer's dad. I was so lucky to end up in his yard. The stars have aligned for me to end up in Canada with you. It was fate! I am very friendly and love to play with humans, as well as other dogs. I even have a doggy best friend! His name is Mack (also posted.) I have been told that I’m super intelligent and learn commands very quickly. I am really hoping that I will end up in Canada soon and my new life will start with you! Please consider me to be a new addition to your family! I promise to fit right in! https://youtu.be/qV4pEc476Ew. Energy level: moderate I get along with:Dogs: yesCats: noKids: unknown Prey drive: High Fears: I am a bit afraid of men. However, if they sit next to me and give me treats I will learn to trust them. Training: someLeash training: Yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Yes, but please be prepared to help me learn where to go in my new home. URGENT! Due to a new law enacted in my country, the rescuers can't retain the refuge, so all us dogs need homes before the end of the year. Please help. Hi there. My name is Taylor. Here is a bit about me:Breed: Lab/Golden Retriever mix (Austrian Pinscher/Russo-European Laika)Age: 3 yrs (feb 14 '21)Gender: FemaleWeight: 56 lbsHeight: 22 inchesCountry of origin: Republic of GeorgiaHighlights: gentle, wary, quiet, sweet, timid A quiet and gentle girl, who is just learning to come into my own, I am so ready for my own home. I didn't inherit my momma's golden locks, but I still have the sweet retriever genes within.Rescued from a forest outside a major city, I was wild with pain from a severed tail. It is unknown whether it was from an act of cruelty, a trap or a tragic accident, but the force of it left little more than a ragged stump. Out of agony and panic, I fought against being rescued, and some of my teeth were broken during the struggle. When I was found, a frightened puppy, Ella (also posted) was with me (but she was not mine), and thus we were rescued together. Come to find out we are half sisters. Same momma, different daddy. We were taken to the vet clinic, where I had surgery. Once we were stable, we were transported to our rescuers facility where we began our path to recovery.Though the trauma of everything has been particularly difficult for me, I have found solace in a soft bed, nutritious food, and the comforting presence of my bonded companion, Ella. In the company of the other playful and relaxed refuge dogs, I have been gradually regaining trust.I am not known to bark. While wary of unfamiliar humans and other dogs and will run away if pursued, you can get me in the house with gentle encouragement, once I trust you. So, still shy and prefer my buddy, Ella's company. However, I allow interaction without scurrying away from my rescuers now. If you will allow me the time to trust, I will continue to improve.I am a really sweet and passive pup. My rescuers determined to show ne that not all humans and dogs are a threat and that I am safe in their care. I flinch less now when petted, but still skulk when entering and leaving the house.I have adjusted to life without a tail. I may not have much more than a stump now, but I wiggle it with joy when happy.  I am slso used to living among humans and housemates.I am currently being leash trained. I prefer to sleep alone, with Ella sleeping nearby. It would be especially sweet, if Ella and me could be adopted together. We are listed as a bonded pair, but could potentially go to separate homes, as well.I am a fairly low maintenance dog, who doesn't require a lot of walking time. I am undemanding in my needs, so will make an easy dog for someone to incorporate into their home. I'd do best with another non-dominate type dog, so I am not pushed around. URGENT! Due to a new law enacted in my country, the rescuers can't retain the refuge, so all us dogs need homes before the end of the year. Please help. Good day. I'm ELLA (Bella) and here is some info about me:Breed: Golden Retriever/Labrador mix (Austrian Pinscher/Lab)Age: 1 year oldGender: FemaleWeight: 44 lbsHeight: bit under 24 inchesCountry of origin: Republic of GeorgiaHighlights: Friendly, playful, timid, cautious, sweet, quiet I'm a playful girl, who is still just a puppy at heart. You'll find I am a loyal pup, who just needs time to bond.Rescued from a forest outside a major city, I was with my friend, Taylor (also posted), who had a severed tail. The rest of my litter and my mother were seen in the vicinity, but they were frightened and ran away. I stayed by Taylor’s side for protection, so was the only puppy rescued from my family. Come to find out we are half sisters. Same momma, different daddy. We were taken to the vet clinic, where I was treated for malnutrition and basic care. Once we were stable, we were transported to our rescuers facility where we began our path to recovery.Taylor and I tend to sit on the sidelines when there are activities and games with the other shelter dogs. The boisterous, young labbies are a bit much and bully us a bit, since we are passively vulnerable yet. We have separate playtime and sleeping areas from them thankfully.I am a bit more active and playful than Taylor. Taylor sleeps on a small sofa, whils they give me a blanket to sleep on the floor, because I pull the stuffing out of dog beds and cushions. I likely do this either because I am still in my puppy stage, or it could be in reaction to the overcrowded environment at the refuge. Iimagine time in a relaxed home of my own will end up alleviating that. While a bit timid yet, I am playful with Taylor and small or older dogs, though occasionally I will nip at a smaller dog. I hardly ever bark. I too am a little wary of unfamiliar humans and dogs yet and will run away if pursued. I would do best with non intimidating dogs. I am currently in progress on leash training.
