Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.TEDDY is available! 24-038 Teddy is a 4-year-old neutered male Golden Doodle.  Teddy began having seizures in January 2023, but due to some confusion on dosages and vet changes with his original family, he was having seizures periodically. He is currently on a regular time schedule for his meds, is eating a special neuro food, and his seizures are short, not severe, and he recovers well. His foster describes him as social, fun, loveable, and good with other dogs. He loves to watch movies and tv - especially if there are dogs in the movie.  He loves to interact with people. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.INDI is available! 24-055 Indi is a 4-year-old spayed female Golden Doodle.  She is described as having good energy, a sweet disposition and loves to be with her humans.  Indi has had some basic obedience training but does not like other dogs. She must be adopted to an only dog home at this point. AGR wants Indi to succeed and be the best companion she can be. Once she is adopted, we will pay for a two or three week training program at Partners Dog Training School, or other acceptable facility, to work with Indi's issues with other dogs. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.BLUE is available! 24-031 Blue is a 4-year-old recently-neutered male Golden Retriever.   He was surrendered with his 4-year-old brother 24-032 Bailey, but we have determined their behavior together is detrimental to their success. They are mildly positive for valley fever and are on medication, even though they are not showing any symptoms. Blue is described as a typical affectionate Golden, he loves attention and is very food oriented.  He does jump so could knock over little kids or the elderly.  He needs training and must go to a home with NO OTHER DOG NOR CAT, as he is reactive to those. AGR wants Blue to succeed and be the best companion he can be. Once he is adopted, AGR will pay for a two or three week training program at Partners Dog Training School, or other acceptable facility, to work with Blue's issues with other dogs. Blue's new family must be willing and committed to attend the prepaid follow-up classes. There will be no cost for this extra training. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.RIVER is available! 24-059 River  is a frightened young (estimated 2-years-old) stray that was taken under the wing of a Good Samaritan who could not keep her. The finder contacted us and we have been working with River to build her confidence. She was terrified of people when we first got her, but has made great strides in learning to trust. River needs someone who is loving and patient to help her continue to grow and thrive. We think she would do great with another well-adjusted dog to show her the way. Young children are not advised. A fence is mandatory. She is currently on an anti-anxiety medicine to help her adjust and it is working well. River is looking for a quiet, well-balanced home to call her own. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.OAKLEY is available! OAKLEY is a 4-year-old female Golden Doodle that does shed.  She is not spayed, but AGR will take care of that expense.  She is described as high energy but with proper exercise and training she will be a great dog. While children were in the household, Oakley’s exposure was being petted through a dog run. Unfortunately, Oakley comes from a divorced household with an owner that travels and does not have time to give her the life she deserves.  Oakley has been boarded during these travels and does well with other pups in the play groups. She has not been around cats. She does have a fear of lightning and fireworks but has no problem with loud noises or planes flying over. She will thrive in a household that can spend time with her, train her and love her – she is very energetic and still has a lot of puppy in her. Her foster reported her as possessive of her people and needs to be the ONLY DOG in a home. If you are interested in adopting this dog or any other available AGR dogs, and want to know more about the process, please click here.  Note:   WE DO NOT ADOPT OUTSIDE OF THE STATE OF ARIZONA. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. PIPER is available! Piper is a 6-month-old female Golden Retriever that has a lot of energy and needs some basic training. Her original owners were not able to supply the attention or exercise that a young Golden needs. Piper will need a fenced yard and someone to play ball with her - leash walking will not be enough exercise. She is sweet and lovable, likes pets and cuddles. Piper is good with dogs but she does jump so could knock over small children or frail adults. She will be spayed at AGR's expense when age-appropriate. Piper is only 53 lbs now, but will be a big girl when she grows up. She has not been exposed to cats. We were told that dad was a golden retriever that runs the streets in the neighborhood we got them from.  Oscar is a sweet boy who enjoys other dogs (big and small) and has been around cats. He enjoys playing with toys and hanging out on his dog bed.  If your interested in Oscar please fill out an application at bbshonor.rescuegroups.org Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 11, 2024, 12:03 am

Story
Tessa was brought into the county shelter as a frightened stray who had trouble walking on her hind limbs and was suffering from an upper respiratory infection. After x-rays were taken, it was determined that she has a severe spinal deformity. With her sweet face, we knew we needed to save her from euthanasia and get her into our care for further diagnostics. Thankfully, with the love and care of her foster family paired with excellent veterinary care, Tessa has fully recovered from her upper respiratory treatment. Tessa is crate- and house-trained, has lovely leash manners and sleeps through the night. She also does so well when left unattended at home. She is learning basic obedience, though considering how incredibly food-motivated she is, she's more than happy to do just about anything for a treat! Tessa absolutely LOVES to wrestle and run around with her foster fur-siblings. She loves all things fluffy (like herself), whether that’s napping in a cozy dog bed or squeaking her favorite stuffy. She is a playful, loving, silly girl just waiting for a family to call her own! Her dream home would include a doggy friend and have no stairs but plenty of yard to play in. Tessa’s adoption fee includes completed veterinary exams, vaccinations, microchip and spay. Apply now to let this golden girl light up your life with her brilliant smile, goofy personality and joy de vivre! Story
Nash has been looking for a home for 385 DAYS!!! Nash was found wandering on a busy street in our neighborhood, a good samaritan picked him up and surrendered him to us. After posting him, no owners came forward, so he's now a Handover Rover dog! He has classic Golden Retriever energy, and is always in a great mood, walking around with his leash in his mouth ready to go on an adventure! Active, Sweet, and friendly to everyone! He does fantastic with dogs but is very playful. he may not be a good fit for an older dog not interested in romping around with him. No cats. Now, we're working on his leash manners and some dog leash reactivity. He's a very quick and soft learner, but we will be looking for someone willing to keep up his training after adoption and be comfortable implementing boundaries and structure. Prior to our Trial adoption, we will need to a few training sessions with his prospective new owner to ensure a good fit. If you're interested in adopting or learning more about Nashville, fill out an application here: https://www.handoverrover.org/adoptionapplication
