Story
I am currently at Stafford Creek Corrections Center as part of the FREEDOM TAILS Board & Train Program from August 8 - October 31. This popular program pairs a duo of incarcerated individuals up with a PAWS of Grays Harbor pooch for 12 weeks. Each dog has a primary and secondary handler assigned to the same cell, giving the dog 24-hour care and attention to meet its needs. During their stay at SCCC, these dogs receive specialized training to prepare them for adoption to the public. At the end of their 12-week stay, they enjoy a special adoption ceremony with their new families to show off their skills as they start a new journey. That means I was able to see the big yard. So many people were able to feed me yummy treats! I only can dream of the treats that come with a green flag...I will see.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Friends,Today I learned how to hug. Now, I want to give everyone a hug. Even the harden inmates hug me!! You wanna hug too? I’m still learning new and exciting things from my handler. I can sit pretty handsome, roll over, and shake with both paws. I can sit down, but I am still too stubborn for up…because the ground is so comfortable, at times.
