Story
Nala Kai is a happy-go-lucky kind of girl! She always has a smile on her face and play on her mind! She loves any kind of play with her human family or canine family. Nala can be over zealous and overbearing in her play with doggie friends so slow intros are best for everyone. She is crate trained and treat motivated. Nala adores children and her excitement may be a little too much for young children, but she can learn and is very willing to do so. She wants to please and will need someone to teach her how to be her best! Interested in becoming a forever home for Nala Kai? For immediate consideration, please fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we DO NOT go any further without an application. If there are multiple dogs that you are interested in, please fill out an application for each dog. This does not include bonded pairs, one application will be fine. We have different adoption coordinators working with different dogs, and your application may be missed if you only apply once. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Nala Kai. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Nala Kai the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. Our normal adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Story
Meet Porter! He is a 2.5 year old, 75 lb tripod doggo! He is likely a Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix. Porter came to our rescue as a puppy and needed a leg amputation after sustaining a bad broken leg. He recovered beautifully and was quickly adopted. He spent the last two years with his adoptive family until he was recently returned. His adoptive family reported that he had started nipping at people so we have had him working with a trainer to better understand what is going on and what Porter may need. After spending quite a lot of time with him, we're not sure what may have been driving that behavior in the home as he hasn't shown any instances of nips/bites with people since he has been with us. Porter likes to have his space and he's good about telling you he would like space. He doesn't like to be startled (but then who does?) so he may be best in a home without small children. Porter is house trained and kennel trained but he does great out and about by himself when his people are away. He knows some of his basic commands and does well on a leash. Porter is a sweet boy and likes to be near his people, whether that is near you when on the couch or on the floor by your bed. He just likes to keep you company. He gets along well with other dogs and likes to play! We're unsure how he may be with cats. He gets around great on three legs and handles a handful of stairs just fine! A whole flight of stairs may be difficult on him as he ages, but a few steps treats him just fine. He doesn't have any special needs and doesn't take any medications. This beautiful boy has so much to offer and will make an incredible companion! You can send inquiries to our adoption team at muttmisfitsadoptions@gmail.com or apply to meet / adopt at www.muttmisfits.org/adoption-application Porter is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and preventatives, heartworm negative, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $150.

Story
Meet Hattie, a sweet yet spunky girl that will show you all the love that special need fosters can possibly offer. When we say they are special, Hattie is a testament to everything these animals have to offer. Hattie is two and a half years old, weighs 35 lbs and has something called hydrocephalus, which has caused blindness, but that doesn’t slow her down at all! Hattie was born with something called hydrocephalus – fluid on her brain. She currently only takes an ant-seizure med and has been doing well with that management in her foster home. Ideally, we would love to find an adopter experienced with the condition because these dogs have very unique qualities that will make a transition easier if the adopter is experienced. Hattie has lived in her foster home since she was three months old. She has a very strict routine (as hydros need) and does not like any sort of change to that routine. Her foster will want to visit with the adopter to ensure a similar routine can be carried into her next home. Hattie will need time to learn a new environment on her terms. She will never be a cuddly dog, and for the most part she doesn’t interact with other dogs a lot. She cannot be forced to a fast adjustment – it will only set her up for failure. While she loves being the company of other dogs, don’t expect her to play and behave like a typical dog. A lot of times she will relax off to the side and watch others play. Hattie lives with foster siblings of all ages and sizes, as well as varying needs, and does great with everyone…in her own way. When new fosters enter the home, she is allowed to explore them on her own terms, and is never forced to interact with them. While she does great on potty training, due to her condition, she will always have accidents. Hydrocephalus dogs tend to not understand fully the concept of potty training, so an awareness to that will need to exist. Due to her condition, only local applications will be considered (Oklahoma only) and potential adopters need to be open to having a home visits done. Multiple visits and observing Hattie in any new home environment is a must. She needs a home with a fenced yard; apartments will not be considered. You can send inquiries to our director of adoptions at muttmisfitsadoptions@gmail.com or apply to meet / adopt at www.muttmisfits.org/adoption-application Hattie is spayed, up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, heart-worm negative, and micro-chipped! Her adoption fee is $250.
