Meet BOLT - Paws Behind Bars Trained BOLT is a 5-year-old male, Husky mix who weighs 45 lbs. And yes, he has one brown eye and one blue eye. It was easy for most to walk by him in the shelter; his energy lever was not compatible with a kennel run. When we pulled him and gave him exercise, wow, what a gem! Bolt's temperament is excellent, and with energy looking for a job to do, he was the perfect dog for our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. Here, he's received obedience training and the proper amount of exercise (a critical consideration for anyone interested in Huskies). We are also getting a much better glimpse of his personality. These dogs live with their inmate 24/7. The one-on-one attention goes a long way to helping us tell the adopter just what to expect. Bolt's new owner must enjoy a "talker," because Bolt has a lot to say about everything! Not a bark, not a howl, just a lot of jibber jabber! He is a very loyal dog and will bond closely with his owner. Bolt is just graduating from the program and is available for adoption now. Story
Clover is a 3 year old female, terrier/husky mix that weighs 47 lbs. She was picked up as a stray so we don't much of a background. What we do know is she is very outgoing and affectionate. Her overall condition and health are good so she had to have had a home. We started on the leash and but the real place to polish those skills, plus basic obedience, is our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. She is currently enrolled and under the guidance of her very own inmate. She lives with him 24/7 and will stay for another 5-6 weeks. By then, we'll know everything there is to know about Clover and will enable us to find the perfect "fit" family for her. Up close and in person, she is gorgeous. She's got crystal blue eyes to go with that diluted brindle coat. If interested in adopting, our process begins with submission of our application. PANDORA is a 1 year old female husky mix that currently weighs 35 lbs. She has a lovely temperament and loves people as much as she loves other dogs. Husky's are active dogs and while PANDORA has puppy energy, she also has moments of composure. She is well started on crate, leash and house training. She's very food motivated and would be an easy dog to train. Pandora will be a great companion for many families. Active young adults who enjoy the outdoors? or families with children? She has been introduced to other, older dogs and she poses them no threat. She has to be mixed with something as she does not have a real dense, husky coat. In order to get the proper amount of exercise, she should have a fenced in yard. If interested in adopting, our process begins with submission of our application.
