Story
Meet Fiyero: Your Energetic Prince of an Adventure Buddy! Looking for a lively and fun-loving companion? Fiyero is here to bring excitement and joy to your life! This high-energy pup is ready to find his forever home where he can thrive and be his playful self. Why Fiyero is the Perfect Pup for You: Loves Playing with Dogs, Large and Small: Fiyero enjoys the company of all canine friends and gets along great with most dogs of all sizes. Energetic: This spirited boy is full of energy and enthusiasm, always ready to charge into new adventures! No Seniors or Very Small Children: Fiyero’s exuberance might be too much for physically unstable seniors or very small children (toddlers), so he’s best suited for a home without them. He would love a family/owner experienced with huskies or similar breeds! Fetch with Rope Toy: His favorite game is fetch, especially with a rope toy. He isn’t a fan of stuffed toys, but he loves anything else that he can chase and tug. High Energy: This active pup needs plenty of exercise and playtime to burn off his boundless energy. Leash Walking: Fiyero was a strong puller on the leash, but his foster family has him walking much better on a leash and reports he is easily trainable. He also has learned "sit" and does it with enthusiasm when treats and meals are involved. Medically Stable:  Fiyero is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines.  Fiyero had eyelid surgery in early January and his vision is much improved (his eyelids are no longer rubbing on his corneas!).   It should continue to improve over time.   He also has been dewormed and had some preventative flea medication. Wants to Play:  Fiyero was tested with another dog at the shelter, and here is the video https://youtu.be/lSS3HVD7LH8.  We have found he is good with most dogs, but not all.  He really wants everyone to play with him. If you’re ready for a whirlwind of fun and a loyal companion, Fiyero is the dog for you! He’s looking for a loving home where he can be the star of the show and bring endless joy to his new family. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Adopt Fiyero Today! Our best guess is he might be a Husky/ Shar-pei mix. He is 54 pounds.  He is fostering in San Diego area.January 21, 2025, 3:24 pm

Story
In the spring of 2023, Kiska was hit by a car near her home in Alaska. She was completely paralyzed on her back legs, and her family lived over 120 miles from a specialist. With limited resources available and issues with time commitments, her family surrendered her to a rescue that worked with special needs dogs in Chandler, Arizona. Little did they know, they had sent their little girl off into the worst nightmare of a situation. At a time when Kiska desperately needed medical care and treatment, she instead sat in a home with 55 other special needs dogs who had little to no access to food and water, let alone any semblance of attention and love. And because of her hit-by-car accident, Kiska was incontinent, like many of the other animals in the home. Tragically, she [and they] sat in soiled diapers for days on end. Finally discovered one month after Kiska's arrival, the founder of the "rescue" fell under investigation for animal cruelty and neglect by the Chandler Police Department. Kiska and 54 other dogs were pulled from the home and taken into custody by the Arizona Humane Society. Sadly, many dogs were found deceased, and the rest were in horrible conditions. Those who were saved from the hoarding hell-house became known as the Chandler55. Thankfully, Kiska survived the gross neglect, and she was released from the custody of the Arizona Humane Society into the home of one of our volunteers. She received the medical care she needed to get on the proper road to recovery. She improved so much that she even started to walk on her own without her wheelchair! Kiska continues to make daily improvements, and what remains incredibly inspiring is her never-ending happiness, zest for life and pure love that pours from her sweet spirit. Now that Kiska is so stable, healthy and making huge strides by the day, we are looking for a foster-to-adopt home for her -- the forever kind of home that will love, cherish and care for her for all her many years to come. A home that has experience with dogs in wheelchairs and incontinence would be wonderful but is not a requirement as our medical team is confident that Kiska could fully recover from her injuries over time. Kiska is currently in a foster home with other dogs her size and smaller. We believe having other fur siblings will help her rehabilitate faster. She is young, playful and has so much pep in her step. She loves to go on walks and would also love a big backyard to run and roll in. During the foster period, our rescue will cover all continued medical care until we deem her fully ready to be adopted. Her adoption fee will include her completed exams, completed physical therapy, vaccines, microchip and spay. You will also have our ongoing support as we work together to give Kiska the most beautiful second chance at the life she has always deserved! Story
Tessa was brought into the county shelter as a frightened stray who had trouble walking on her hind limbs and was suffering from an upper respiratory infection. After x-rays were taken, it was determined that she has a severe spinal deformity. With her sweet face, we knew we needed to save her from euthanasia and get her into our care for further diagnostics. Thankfully, with the love and care of her foster family paired with excellent veterinary care, Tessa has fully recovered from her upper respiratory treatment. Tessa is crate- and house-trained, has lovely leash manners and sleeps through the night. She also does so well when left unattended at home. She is learning basic obedience, though considering how incredibly food-motivated she is, she's more than happy to do just about anything for a treat! Tessa absolutely LOVES to wrestle and run around with her foster fur-siblings. She loves all things fluffy (like herself), whether that’s napping in a cozy dog bed or squeaking her favorite stuffy. She is a playful, loving, silly girl just waiting for a family to call her own! Her dream home would include a doggy friend and have no stairs but plenty of yard to play in. Tessa’s adoption fee includes completed veterinary exams, vaccinations, microchip and spay. Apply now to let this golden girl light up your life with her brilliant smile, goofy personality and joy de vivre!
