Story
Meet Gaitlyn Rae! Age: 5 Breed: Pomeranian Weight: 7lbs Good with: dog, older kids (not cat tested) House training: working on it! Crate trained: does not use a crate Needs: secured, fenced in yard Gaitlyn is a 5 year old, 7 pound Pomeranian and she's extra special because she is a puppy mill survivor. Her entire life was spent in a cage with very little human contact. The summers were scorching hot without air conditioning, and freezing cold without heat during the winter months in the barn. She made the Amish farmer a lot of money because every litter of puppies she had were sold to the pet stores where the unsuspecting public would then purchase her beautiful babies not realizing what the parents of those puppies were living through day after day, year after year. Because of her cruel background, she is very leary of humans. She desires to be in the same room as her foster parents and she especially adores her foster dad, but she doesn't yet know how to enjoy the coziness of being in someone's arms. She is very nervous of being picked up and held but is slowly learning that not all people will hurt her. Before she was rescued, she had never walked on grass, felt the warmth of sun or felt the wind in her face but now that she has freedom, she loves to be outside in her secured fenced yard. Gaitlyn is looking for a special home; one where her new family understands her past and is happy to take the time to allow her to become the dog she was meant to be. This will take time and patience. She will require a home with a secure, fully fenced yard for her safety. Another small, gentle dog in her new home will be great for her because dogs are all she knows and trusts. In fact, she will learn many things with another dog to show her the way. Gentle children over 10 years old would be perfect for her because young children can be scary with their quick moments and loud voices. Gaitlyn is working on her potty skills and she is making great progress hitting the potty pad and learning from the other dogs in her foster home that going potty outside is just what dogs do. She has not been around kitties, but she doesn't have the desire to chase things. She is a very sweet little girl and her foster parents adore her. She's full of sunshine and happiness. She just needs her new family to allow her the time to blossom right before their eyes and experience her first things right along with her.
