Story
Grateful for his second chance at life, 4-year-old George is growing increasingly comfortable in his foster home. Clearly someone’s pet at one time, he’s 18 pounds of sweetness and affection when people approach him slowly, allowing him to show how much he LOVES to be loved! Now he loves cuddling with his foster mom, resting his head on her, rolling over for belly rubs and then prancing pertly about. Growing more energetic each day, George gets along well with dogs of all sizes, enjoys going for walks, walking very well on leash, chewing on bones, playing with small tennis balls and the occasional toy. Calm around the resident cats, highly intelligent, eager to please and highly motivated by food and love, he currently knows “sit” and “leave it,” is at work on his crate training and doggy manners and is almost fully house-trained. Now all gentle George needs to thrive is a loving home, preferably with another small playful dog, without young children, and patient adopters who will bolster his confidence, perfect his manners, and complete his training, including his commands, in exchange for his own enduring loyalty and love.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $500. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
