Story
Here is what Duke’s foster family says about him:   Duke is such a sweet boy, and I know that sounds like a cliché, but it’s totally true!   He’s super eager to learn and please, and he’s food-motivated, so the training we’ve been doing, like sitting and waiting for food and recall, has been going great! Although he’s food-motivated and always sniffing and looking for something to grab, like in the kitchen or on a walk, he doesn’t bother his foster brother, Jed, while he’s eating. He lets Jed finish before going over to make sure he got everything.   We’ve never seen Duke counter surf or even try it.   Duke seems really smart. He knows his name, recall is in progress, and I can see him picking up on what Jed is doing and understanding that’s what he’s supposed to do too. He gets a little jumpy when he’s excited, but we’re working on that, and he usually corrects himself right away after a ‘no’. He’s probably the easiest GSP I’ve ever walked on a leash. He understands when we get to the end of his leash, to let up, and not pull. When we encounter another dog or person on a walk, Duke is super curious and wants to say hi, but we’re working on that too.   Duke loves his ball! He loves to play fetch in general, but he absolutely loves his ball:)! Chasing after his ball is the only time I think I’ve seen him run almost full speed. He’s starting to play with Jed more, but he plays with the cat more. All three of them get along pretty well. I think Duke would do well with or without another dog at home. He loves to be the center of attention and get all the cuddles, but as I said earlier, he does look to Jed for cues at times.   He seems to do well in the car. He whines a little at first but settles in.   He gets excited and barks at other people and dogs as they walk by when he’s in the yard. Likewise with visitors, he barks and hoops a lot, but he settles down right away and is good with meeting people.   Over time, I’ve noticed Duke’s personality shining through more and more. This is still a new experience for him, so there’s some uncertainty, but as he’s been coming out of his comfort zone, he’s been more playful, bouncing around, and feeling more at ease on his own. He’s also staying put when people come and go from the room.   ##2237831##

Story
Meet Riley! This sweet and sassy 3-year-old pup is looking for a loving forever home. She is a playful and affectionate companion who loves to eat, play with squeak toys, and have a good game of tug-of-war. Riley is also crate-trained, which makes house training and travel a breeze. She's also good with other dogs and enjoys playing with them! While Riley has a big personality, she also has a sensitive side. She is currently being successfully managed with medication for idiopathic epilepsy, which requires twice-daily administration. This is easily done with a pill pocket or mixed in with food. She is doing wonderfully on this medication. This little lady has a secret passion for paper products – think of it as her own personal shredding service! But fear not, she's easily convinced to trade paper for pets and play. Riley is looking for a family who can provide her with: Lots of love and attention A safe and comfortable home Consistent medication administration (twice daily) Daily exercise and playtime If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion with a touch of sass, Riley might be the perfect addition to your family!  ##2178031##

Story
Lily is a sweet 6-year-old German Shorthair Pointer mix who has found herself at a shelter after the death of her owner. She loves water, fetch, and squeaky toys. Lily is a strong girl with plenty of energy. She would make a great running partner once she has a little help with her leash manners. This girl is so athletic that she has been known to jump some fences. We recommend a 5-6 foot fence if your yard is fenced in. WGSPR was told she had some resource guarding with food/toys/space around other dogs. We sent her to a trainer to work on her basic obedience and to assess her for resource guarding with other dogs.  The trainer has not seen any resource guarding with people or dogs. She has been very neutral with other dogs.  The trainers have had no issues taking toys from her.   Lily has a high prey drive because that is what her breed is known for, and she would love to put it to good use and hunt with you. Lily is still with the trainer and any approved adopter will go meet her at the trainer's facility.  The trainer will assist in picking a family for Lily that meets her needs. This girl is ready to find her new forever family. ##2215847##
