If you have ANY QUESTIONS or are truly interested in adopting any animal from PAW Animal Shelter Please, fillout an adoption application FIRST!   WE are a high intake No Kill Shelter ran by a staff of 4 and do not always have time to answer every question asked by so many. If you are a good fit for the animal you are interested in -we will call to speak with you, If we feel you are not a good fit , we will contact you about other pets that may be a good fit for your home. Many people are losing the opportunity to adopt the animal they want because they fail to put in an application and the pet was adopted before we could answer your email. .If you have applied for an animal in our facility and have not received a response within 7 days, PLEASE call or contact us again. Though we do our best in trying to answer all emails in a timely manner, sometimes things get away from us, get lost or misplaced. It is never our intention to ignore a request about an adoptable animal in our facility. Sandy Brown, Director, PAW Animal Shelter 319-372-2274 ##2254005##

Story
- Very sweet boy who loves going on walks around the shelter - here's what a volunteer said about him recently: "I took Harvey on a walk today, and he did fantastic! He's a very handsome man. Super curious and definitely still has lots of energy despite being older! He's an absolute sweetheart!"- Was a super sweet guy when our staff dressed him up in reindeer antlers - he didn't mind one bit! - Knows sit, stay and lay down and was crate-trained- Previous family said he prefers a quiet environment - Does not have much tolerance for young children and really prefers that they leave him alone, so he's looking for a teens-and-up home right now- Had done well at dog parks/daycare in his previous home; may tend to avoid some other dogs if he's not feeling comfortable (dog intro recommended) - All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 62 Age: 7yrs 4mths 2wks

Story
Being a German Shorthair & Hound mix, you can imagine that ol' Oscar is a lover of the outdoors! This sweet boy was born in May of 2015 and is still looking for a place to call his own. Oscar enjoys being around people, especially ladies, but he understands what it's like to need some space: your time, my time, and our time! Oscar experiences anxiety and because of this, boundaries are important to him. When his anxiety is low, Oscar is a goofy, playful boy who likes to chase balls, sticks, and rabbits. He loves, loves, loves long walks with plenty of time to let his hound nose get some exercise, and lots of exercise helps work off that extra energy that can make this handsome boy nervous! Because of his love for exploration, Oscar will need a fenced-in yard to keep him close to home. Oscar is not kennel trained, but is totally fine being left to lounge around the house while you're away; he's also housetrained so no worries about that business! Oscar is a very smart dog who knows "sit", "stay", "lay down", "leave it" and he also knows that when he follows these fun words he gets really yummy treats! Oscar's ideal home will be with an active person/couple who love to explore nature, just like he does, and who will love him like family while respecting his need for boundaries and independence! The suggested adoption donation for Oscar is $315.  We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match.  If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet.  The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter.  We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs.  If you and the dog are not a good match, we will help you select another dog, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.
