Story
WE HAVE REACHED OUT LIMIT OF APPLICATIONS FOR GOOSE AND ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING ANY NEW ONES. WE ARE PROCESSING ALL THE APPLICATIONS THAT HAVE BEEN RECEIVED UP TO 12/10/24. YOU WILL HEAR FROM OUR ADOPTION COORDINATOR ABOUT NEXT STEPS SO PLEASE WATCH YOUR EMAILS.   Goose is not quite one year old and is still very much a puppy. Curious, but cautious, and sometimes a little skittish with new things. He is a very good boy but is still learning. He certainly has plenty of energy but is not hyper and settles down in the house when it is time to rest. He is approximately 60 lbs and will be around 70 when fully grown. He knows some basic commands. Sit, down and stay. He will wait for permission to do something if you ask him to wait. He responds well to instruction and quickly learns a routine if you are consistent. He will chew on things that are not his and has on occasion taken food off of the counter if it is readily available and he is unsupervised. Things he will hopefully outgrow. He walks OK on a long leash if he can sniff and explore. He will go to the end and pulls occasionally but responds to correction well. He loves to be around people and is very affectionate. He gets excited to meet people and needs work on staying down but is not an aggressive jumper and calms down after a few minutes. He will follow you around the house so he does not miss anything. If you do not include him, he does whine but will not bark. The original owner left him in a crate for 6-7 hours a day and the foster has left him free in the house for several hours with no issues. He will chase anything that you throw but needs work on bringing it back and dropping, especially outdoors. He is very good about letting you take toys out of his mouth and will not play tug. He has been good with other dogs at the park. He is cautious at first but will chase and wrestle quickly and if another dog is overly playful he will just run away. No aggression of any type has been seen. He does not get out of sight for very long, stays relatively close and responds well to recall if needed. It is not clear if he has been trained to hunt but given his ability to learn he should be effective with some training. The original owner says he is good with cats and children but has not been around either while in foster care, except for teenagers. Goose would be good for any type of person or family who has time for him. He needs activity and stimulation and the ideal home is where someone is there most of the day. Another dog to play with and help him learn would also be good for him. NOTE: Goose is scheduled to be neutered in mid December so he will not be able to move to his new home until he is healed from his surgery. ##2237342##
