Story
Meet Finch  He is a 1 year German Shorthaired Pointer  He is absolutely breathtaking, look at those eyes what an awesome heterochromia on him. He is ready to find a home of his own. He will be coming up very soon but needs a foster to adopt home to confirm his spot !  Finch is AMAZING with other dogs. He is great with kids and meeting new people. Unfortunately Finch is not able to be in a home with cats or with farm animals he has a prey drive. He came from the streets of south Texas he was apart of a Dog pack that roamed the country side. There was a small new neighborhood that was built. The community of people living there wanted the dog pack that Finch came from to be picked up by the shelter some even threatened to shoot them. They made up tons of lies in order to convince animal control to take them. Thankfully we were able to get them out before they could be shot or picked up by the ACO’s.  Finch Needs a foster or foster to adopt to have a confirmed spot on our next transport ##2157377##

HOMEOWNERSHIP REQUIRED! PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED PERRY! Please meet Perry, a 4 year old handsome mixed breed boy (possible combination of GSP and Bluetick Coonhound), weighing in at +\-50 pounds. He is up to date on vaccines, neutered, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Perry's zest for life is evident in his love for play. Whether it's a game of fetch or playtime in the yard, Perry's enthusiasm is infectious!  Perry's dedication to training is remarkable. He has an impressive grasp of basic obedience commands such as "sit," "down," "stay," and "heel." He also understands the "place" command, showcasing his intelligence and eagerness to learn. His training progress is a testament to his willingness to please and his adaptability to new situations. Perry is both crate trained and fully house trained. Perry LOVES his person (or people). He is a relationship driven dog that will bond tightly with his caretaker(s). He loves to engage in play and share mental and physical stimulation inside and outside his residence.  Perry is a very well behaved gentleman out in public, having socialized well with people and other dogs of all sizes in a variety of situations/environments. However, inside his home, the sudden movements of younger children can tend to make Perry nervous, and as such, older children (12+) are recommended to reside with Perry in his home. That being said, Perry is perfectly fine and content to utilize his crate in situations where young ones may be temporary visitors. Perry enjoys the companionship of other dogs, provided they are introduced properly and will respect his boundaries. He is able to participate in playgroups with others; however, Perry's primary interest and focus is his person (or people), which also makes him a great candidate as a solo dog in a new home. Perry has a unique vocal talent - the "hound" howl. However, this distinctive trait only surfaces when he feels bored, adding a touch of character to his already charming personality! To ensure Perry thrives, he should be placed in a loving home with plenty of room for him to run and play. He's an active dog who relishes outdoor adventures. Most importantly, Perry deserves a home that will shower him with boundless love and affection, just as he wholeheartedly gives in return. If you're seeking a loyal, playful, and loving companion who will bring endless joy to your life, Perry could be the perfect addition to your family. Don't delay in completing an application to meet the handsome Perry today! Adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter 3 Puppy combo shots (Distemper/Parvo) Bordetella Micro-chip Rabies De-worming ##1282577##

Story
Lyra is loving, playful, and cuddly. She is good with people of all kinds, including kids. She jumps sometimes when she is excited, but seems to learn quickly when training for most things. She is very smart and loves playing with and chasing other dogs more than anything, so would do well in a home that already has a dog. With people, she likes to play tug of war, keep away with her toys, or stretch out at our feet. She has puppy energy and could use some more general training, but is potty trained and only chews on her own toys. She is a wonderful and well-behaved dog. Unfortunately, Lyra has a high prey drive towards our cats, which has made it difficult for her to share our home. We have tried our best, but the stress on everyone involved is very high and all the animals deserve a more relaxed environment. We know Lyra will bring immense joy to her forever family. If you are looking for an active, loving companion, please take the time to meet her. You'll be glad you did.

Story
I’m a 5-year-old female, purebred GSP. I am currently in a home that I have known since I was a puppy because my recent owner took me in for pet sitting. Several months ago, my original owners needed to move to a big city and their new home would be an apartment. Clearly, they were no longer able to keep me and take me with them so my pet sitter adopted me. Unfortunately, though I was fine with her other dogs when she had me for doggy daycare, now that I am a permanent part of the pack, one of her females and I aren’t getting along. My current mom of 8 months thinks I would be much happier in a home as an only dog or maybe with a submissive male dog. Because I am an alpha dog, I wouldn’t be good in a family that has another female or a dominant male dog.

Story
Beretta is a very sweet girl, with some anxiety. She loves people and exercising, especially running outside and playing in the snow and water. She’s shy of loud noises and needs some comfort during thunderstorms, but is not destructive. She’s lived around other dogs for the past seven years, but has had some trouble in the past with excitable dogs, especially if they don’t mind their space. She does well with an experienced handler.

Story
Now that she’s settled into her foster home, life for 1-year-old Nyra couldn’t be nicer! At a fit 40 pounds, the sleek black beauty has been revealing more of her sweetness and calmness, thrives on her fosters’ attention in the form of cuddles and pets, and enjoys engaging with the three resident teens. While she gets along well with her two larger doggy foster friends, she’s particularly fond of her 65-pound male doggy foster friend, loves romping and playing with him, then settling down to relax and recharge her batteries. At ease when encountering new people, Nyra goes for 30-45 minute walks once a day, honing her leash skills the more walks she takes, and likes jerky treats, dental bones, dog biscuits and most dog toys. Motivated by food and love, she currently knows “sit,” “leave it” and “no,” and is almost fully crate and house-trained. With much still to learn and much love to share, Nyra now needs a nurturing home, perhaps with an easygoing canine companion already there, and patient adopters who will bolster her confidence, complete her training, including her commands, and keep her in cuddles fur-ever.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. Story
Are you looking for a good boy? How about a goofy, loving, and smart boy? I'm here to tell you that you have made it to the right place, as I am ALL those things! I'm Darko, a 2 year old Dalmatian/border Collie mix. I'm a good boi. I seem to get along well with other dogs but the shelter always recoomends a proper introduction. I'm active as my breeds are known for but I've also got a mellow side. I know when it's time to unwind and relax and I'm all for curling up on the couch and snuggling. My only flaw- I don't like kitty cats. So, what do you say? Have I convinced you that I'm amazing yet?? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2095206##
