Story
We found Kairo dumped on the side of the road, dodging traffic on the highway on-ramp. He had no collar, no chip, and no claim made on him. We took him in, but can no longer keep him. He is not a good fit for our family. Our oldest dog does not like him, but Kairo loves and gets along with our other dog. Kairo is very sweet and loves quality time. He needs an active family who is willing to take him out on trips, and who has the time to give him the attention and care he needs. He needs a loving and patient home. We believe he has abandonment issues, so being 100% transparent, he is an excessive barker when anyone leaves the room. He is just like a little puppy in a big dog’s body, so he has the excitement of a puppy and the strength of a big dog. He is incredibly intelligent and when he is properly exercised he is very calm and gentle. We want him to have a second chance to find a beautiful and fulfilling forever home. We believe Kairo will be a wonderful lifelong partner for someone.

Abby | German Shorthaired Pointer Mix | 12-Years-Old | Spayed Female | Approx. 80 lbs. Abby came to Lily’s as an owner surrender when her owner had to go into memory care living. Abby was well-loved in her past home and is ready to find her new forever family! Abby is a sweet girl who aims to please. She is easy-going, very receptive to attention and loves stuffy toys (especially ones that squeak!). Abby has polite manners and knows her basic commands. She rides well in the car and walks well on leash, just happy to be on an outing. Abby likes the company of other dogs and has lived with other large dogs. She is an active girl with lots of pep left in her step! Abby is a loyal companion looking for her other half who can provide her with the tender loving care she needs.

Story
Meet Nana! Nana is such an incredibly sweet, loving, and active dog! She loves new people and is very friendly. She thrives when snuggling under blankets, on long walks around the neighborhood or on a hiking trail, swimming, and playing fetch with her toys or tennis balls. Nana is 8 years old, and we adopted her around 10 months old. She's potty trained and responds well to familiar commands such as "sit", "come", "lay down", and "stay". Unfortunately within recent years, Nana and our older dog have been unable to reconcile several highly intense and negative encounters, and these encounters are increasing in frequency where our home is very stressful and challenging for both dogs to handle. Nana truly deserves a home with no other dogs so that she may have the undivided attention, love, and care that she needs from her humans. It is with a heavy heart that we have come to this decision, but we are seeking a loving and understanding home that can provide what sweet Nana needs!

Story
Shelly is a 2-year-old, 61 lb Pointer mix who, despite the many changes in her life, remains an affectionate and sweet girl, quickly becoming a volunteer favorite due to her friendly temperament and personality. She is looking for a patient family who can offer plenty of love, treats, and a gradual introduction to an active and social life. Shelly's athletic nature and eagerness to please make her an excellent candidate for training classes and dog sports. She gets along well with other dogs, seeking affection in a gentle, non-pushy manner. Given her Pointer heritage, once Shelly is settled into her new home, she'll be an energetic and alert family companion who thrives on exercise and mental stimulation, yet can settle down nicely after activities. Shelly loves walks and hikes, enjoying the opportunity to explore at her own pace. She is ready for her forever home and is available to foster or adopt. Come visit Shelly and see if she is the right fit for your family. Here is what Shelly's fosters had to say about her: "She take a little bit of time to warm up and trust you (for me and my kids this was a day or so, for my husband a bit longer) but she is incredibly sweet and wants to cuddle. She was fantastic with my boys - ages 8 and 11 - and really loved them too. We would crate her at night and when we left the house and she was a little hesitant to go into the crate (treats helped a lot!) but was fine once in there. She'd sleep through the night without a peep. Although she's strong, she doesn't pull on walks unless she sees a squirrel or something. She loves hiking and being in the outdoors so would be great for an active family. She is nervous getting into vehicles. I had to pick her up to get her in the car. But once she's in the car, she's quite good. We took her up to Tahoe with us and she did great on the back of our sub with our other dogs. She's about 90% potty trained. She wants to go outside but doesn't have the best cues to tell you she needs to go. She'll stand at the door but she doesn't bark or anything. Overall, she's a great snuggly dog who just wants to be loved. She needs a little extra time to warm up but is so great in so many ways."
