Story
We rescued her from a drug addict about a year ago. Her tail was bare bone. We suspect she was left hungry and chewing her own tail. We nursed her back to health but now due to financial issues, we will have to move to a much smaller space that does not allow dogs. She is very sweet and loyal but she can be a bit energetic. We are unsure of her age but we suspect that she is not older than 4 years old.

Story
Meet our pint-sized dynamo Gideon, at 7 years young he is the master of finding snug spots, even if it means claiming the tiniest corner of the room. You’ll often catch him cozying up in armchairs, making himself at home in the most adorable fashion and he is a true cuddle bug. Despite the occasional spillage, in true GSP fashion, from his water bowl, he’s tidy for a furry friend. Now, onto his latest escapade – the spin! Picture this: he’s giving it his all, twirling around with enthusiasm, mastering the art of the spin about half the time. It’s a work in progress, but oh-so-endearing to witness his determination. But wait, there’s more! Gideon is making strides in independence, willingly trotting into his crate, even with his trusted human out of sight. He also lets his human know when it’s time to head outside for his potty break. When it comes to outdoor adventures, he’s becoming quite the explorer. His recall is improving by leaps and bounds, and he’s gaining confidence in the backyard, especially with a watchful eye nearby. With each passing day, his outdoor excursions are extending, from a mere five minutes to a solid half-hour of supervised playtime. Yet, amidst all these triumphs, one thing remains unchanged – his vocal nature. This little chatterbox has a lot to say and isn’t shy about letting everyone know. But hey, who can blame him for wanting to share his thoughts with the world? If Gideon seems like he could fit into your life and family, please apply to adopt him today! He’s ready to make you very happy! Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Gideon's been up to, check out his posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Meet Ozark, the one-year-old dynamo of fun and frolic! This pint-sized bundle of energy is like a walking party – sweet, loving, and bursting with playfulness that’ll keep you on your toes. Whether it’s romping around with fellow furry friends, diving into a game of fetch with his beloved tennis ball, or simply soaking up all the love from his favorite humans, Ozark knows how to spread joy wherever he goes. While he’s still mastering the art of leash manners, his enthusiasm for walks knows no bounds. And if you’re lucky enough to work from home, Ozark will be your ultimate sidekick, bringing smiles and tail wags to your day. Plus, he wouldn’t mind a furry companion to share in his adventures. Just be sure to keep the cat and kiddos under 12 out of his path – after all, this party animal prefers a more mature crowd! With his housetraining and crate skills already mastered, Ozark is ready to leap into your heart and home with boundless love and endless fun! Story
Stix is here to wag his tail straight into your heart! He is a 10-month-old bursting with energy and excitement for life! If you’re into long walks filled with exploration and laughter, then you are a paw-some match. Whenever he sees other dogs, he gets super excited because he believes every furry friend is a potential playmate! He is crate-trained and absolutely adores car rides. There’s something about sticking his head out the window and feeling the wind on his fur that makes him feel like the luckiest pup in the world. He also is not shy about showing his affection – cuddle sessions are his specialty! He does need a little extra guidance in the potty department and honing his general learning skills. He is a puppy at heart, eager to learn and grow alongside a loving forever home. He thrives best in a home where he can be the center of attention, so no other dogs, please. And while we don’t know how much of a big fan of kids he will be, we think he would do best in a home with teens and above who can keep up with his boundless energy. So, what do you say? Are you ready to embark on the greatest adventure of all – the journey of companionship and unconditional love with STIX by your side? If so, let’s schedule a meet-and-greet and see if we’re a perfect match! Looking forward to the possibility of becoming your forever furry friend. Story
Aero is a people-loving pup through and through. Whether snuggling up on the couch or hiking, He is happiest when he is by your side. He gets along great with other dogs, so if you’ve got a furry friend at home, we’ll be instant pals. Now, let’s talk about exercise. Aero is not your average couch potato—oh no! He thrives on activity and adventure. He takes daily walks, runs, hikes—you name it, he is ready to go! Keeping him active isn’t just about burning off energy; it’s also crucial for my mental well-being. A tired pup is a happy pup, after all! He might need some work on his leash manners and basic obedience, but he is a quick learner! He is house-trained, but his crate is not his favorite place; he gets anxious when the door is closed. He is a car ride enthusiast! Just say the word, and he will jump for joy at the chance to hop in and go for a drive. Regarding kids, he would do best with older ones, maybe around 12 and up. They’ll appreciate his boundless energy and playful nature, and he will love having a human buddy to run around with. So, what do you say? Are you ready to make Aero a part of your family? He will fill your days with love, laughter, and plenty of tail wags. Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Aero's been up to, check out his posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
This big boy is friendly and full of love. Kev is always happy to see and meet new people, making friends easily. His affection and willingness to listen mean he’s by your side (sometimes even leaning or laying on you) whenever given the chance! Kev has the energy you would expect of a young GSP and will benefit from lots of running and exercise to help him burn off the energy and learn to settle. He’s been known to jump or scale a fence, so secure fencing is crucial. He is active and at times doesn’t realize his size. Once he’s settled, he’s quiet and gentle. It’s the ideal time to perfect the cues he’s learning like down, stay, and shake. Kev is looking for a home that will continue his training and exercise him well. He’ll benefit from structure and a regular routine. If you have other dogs in the home, let’s talk more about how Kev can best integrate with your crew. He is unaware of dog social cues and his play style (combined with his size) can be a bit much for some dogs! Kev is available on a foster-to-adopt basis so we can support you during the transition to your home. Story
Smokey is a very smart, very energetic, and very happy dog. He is an incredibly loyal companion, and a fantastic property dog. He guards well while also leaving room to play. Gets along well with other dogs to an extent, being that he is protective. Smokey was found in the Plumas national forest, around Frenchman Lake. He was starved and lethargic. My friend and I took him in and nurtured him back to his happy and energetic self. He has learned a lot in the 9 months that I’ve had him. He’s become much more attentive and a much better listener. I love this dog very much. However, I am a busy college student, and am also working towards my commercial pilots license. I have tried very hard, but I unfortunately cannot balance my life with being responsible for him for much longer. It is very important that Smokey has a place to run and roam, without risk of going too far. He is very smart and will always find his way home. However, he does like to travel far.
