Story
***** Hunter and Willow are looking for a special home together so they are members of our Lonely Hearts Club and their adoption fee has been reduced to $150 for the pair. Hi there! We’re Willow and Hunter, a couple of sweet, lovable older pups looking for a soft spot to land together. We can both be a little shy at first, but we love pets—so with a little patience (and maybe a few bacon-flavored treats), we’ll warm up quickly! Willow is a big fan of stuffy toys—she loves tossing them in the air and rolling on them outside. She’s also a cuddle bug who will happily crawl into your lap and give kisses. Hunter enjoys playing ball but is just as happy lounging on a thick, comfy bed (or better yet, the couch—we both love napping there!).We’re fairly calm in the house, great at walking together on leash, and absolutely love car rides. We’ve lived with toddlers, cats, and small dogs in the past, so we’re pretty used to a full house! If you’d like to meet us, please ask specifically at the Adoption Center desk—we’re sharing a larger doggie apartment in a non-public area of the shelter. We can’t wait to find our forever home and spend our retirement years with a family who will love us as much as we’ll love them!Weight: ~ 75 pounds (Willow) and ~ 84 pounds (Hunter)Adoption fee for the pair of us: $150 +taxIf you`d like to meet us, click the `Learn About the Adoption Process` button below to plan a visit to the shelter!

Story
Lone Ranger came to us as an owner surrender due to his medical needs. We first believed he has swimmers syndrome, but are currently working through a myriad of potential contributing factors that might be affecting his mobility. At this time, Lone Ranger is available as a foster to adopt while we work through his medical issues. He is a typical happy, playful GSD puppy who would greatly benefit from a home where he can build his muscle tone and help learn how to navigate the world with his mobility constraints. Lone Ranger likes to play with other dogs, but can get frustrated at times so he would do best with a dog capable of healthy corrections or very patient with a big, goofy, awkward puppy. We would love nothing more than to get this sweet boy into a home where he can become a beloved family member. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped, heartworm tested, receive prevention while in our care, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. If you're interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at sftsrescue.org/available-dogs

Story
This handsome man is sure to catch your eye and steal your heart! Skippy is a male German Shepherd who came to SFTS from Winnebago County Animal Services where he was found as a stray. He's estimated to be about 10 years old, and has an adorably cute crimped ear from a previous ear hematoma. As is true of most GSDs, Skippy gets himself very worked up in the shelter setting. But out of his kennel he's a pretty easy going guy, enjoying yard time and walks with our volunteers. He's a smart boy and knows basic commands, and when told "gentle" oh so carefully takes the treat from your hand. Skippy also appears to be potty trained, and is crate trained. He does have some of those typical pushy shepherd tendencies, so he would do best in a home with GSD or big dog experience who can provide him the guidance and structure he needs to be successful. Skippy has previously done well in a foster home with other dogs, but considering he's an older gentlemen we would want to dog test with any existing dogs in the home. Although he does still have a good amount of spunk and likes to play! If you're looking to spoil a pup in their senior years, Skippy is the boy for you! Please visit sftsrescue.org/adoptable-dogs to fill out an application.

Story
Nebel is a pure bred German Shepherd puppy. Born on 10/2/24 - he is a stage 5 clinger and loves his humans and kiddos!  Nebel is getting a good understanding of basic obedience and vey eager to learn.  In true German Shepherd fashion - Nebel loves to talk and will serenade you with his excitment whimpers.  He loves to cuddle and wants to follow your every step.  Nebel is looking for a home with people who are there most of the day and who are patient and understand he will need slow and positive interactions and to just be allowed to observe the world around him as he takes it all in! We also strongly believe that large dogs should be altered when the timing is right for their growth - so we are allowing for that with these puppies; however, because they are purebred and we will NOT be adopting out for breeding purposes, part of the adoption fee is a refundable spay/neuter deposit. $425 adoption fee $500 alteration deposit. Once you prove that you have completed the alteration, we will reimburse the $500 deposit and issue a $100 operation refund as well.  ##2262429##
