Story
Reintroducing Hank, previously known as William. Hank was one of the puppies from the American litter from last fall and unfortunately wasn't a great fit in his previous home so he is now looking for a new one!Pros:*Crate trained*House trained. Rings a doorbell to ask to go outside, or whines if he's in his crate*Rides nicely in the car*Takes treats gently*Enjoys scritches and snuggles*Attended puppy classes. Knows Sit, Sit-Stay, Down, Off, Come when called (indoors). Walks politely on-leash.*Good for nail trims*Can live with friendly cat(s) after proper introductions*Is low to moderate energy level. Happy to chill out with you while you work or watch TVCons:*Needs a consistent day/night schedule. He gets grouchy if his sleep is interrupted or if he's kept up past his preferred bedtime, ~9 pm*Is unsure of children, and would do best in a home without children or with older children*Has a history of guarding toys from people in his first home, and guarding chews from dogs in his foster home. He needs his forever family to protect him from forced sharing. If his forever family includes children or other pets, a large crate is required so that he has a safe space where he can enjoy his toys/chews/food in peace. If there are other dogs in the home, a crate-and-rotate routine is recommended until the dogs' relationships are established (for at least 3 months).*Is selective about doggie friends - he doesn't like when other dogs stare at him*Needs to be kept on-leash or in a fenced yard due to his age and training experience*Is very interested in houseplants and would like to taste them. His forever family should protect him from toxic houseplantsFill out an adoption application today! If approved, we will reach out within two days to set up a 60-minute meet-and-greet/reservation appointment. All dog adoptions include one free week of virtual training through the service GoodPUP. If you are interested in learning more or would like to set up a meet-and-greet please fill out an adoption application on our website: www.hsbcpets.com/adopt

Story
Hi, my name is Tux, because I am always sporting my permanent tuxedo. I am looking for my forever home. I am a male shepherd mix about 1 year old. I originated in Texas and was sent to Wisconsin with a few of my buddies. I am super shy, but very gentle. I love playing with other dogs. I mostly want to follow you around and nap with occasional spurts of energy. I don't bark, but I will sing to you when I want out of my kennel, when I'm thirsty or need to go outside. I have had little comfort or unconditional love and that is what I am looking for. When my foster mom snuggles with me, I let her know I appreciate it with a soft sigh and sleepy eyes. She takes me for walks, car rides, ice fishing, visiting friends and I love it all. Because I have experienced very little, everything surprises me, but I am very curious to check out new things and explore new adventures.  If you would like to meet me, please visit our website and complete the pre-adoption application.  Once it has been processed then we can make a date to get together! All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm tested (if over 2 years old), vaccinated, dewormed, flea and tick treated, microchipped and more before adoption. Our adoption policies include: Application, Vet Reference, Landlord approval & Criminal Background Check. We do not do same day adoptions. We request that you call for an appointment after your application has been approved to come and visit the dog of your choice. If you have a dog currently, you should bring him/her along to meet the new dog so we can see how everyone interacts.  Please visit our website for additional information. The online application can be found at :https://hsburnettcty.org/adoption-guidelines/January 23, 2025, 5:22 pm

Story
Bonnie came in as a stray, along with what we assume is her brother, Clyde. These dogs were either lost and wandering for a while, or underkept and not taken care of properly. Their nails are long, with Bonnie's being over an inch long and curled, and both seem to have mange and were very smelly. They have gotten baths and their vaccinations, and Bonnie did so good getting a bath! She is very food motivated, so she will follow that nose of hers anywhere. Bonnie and Clyde are very bonded, so we would like for them to stay together. 2 for 1 adoption anyone?! They have no resource guarding with each other at all, and get a little sad when the other isn't around to hang out with. Considering whatever they have been through, these two amazing shepherds are resilient, tough and still forgiving. They have had nothing but each other for what seems like a while, so let's keep them together!  If you would like to meet me, please visit our website and complete the pre-adoption application.  Once it has been processed then we can make a date to get together!
