Story
Maui was in one home his whole life until he was surrendered to a crowded shelter at 4 years old when the Mom became pregnant. If you know German Shepherds, you likely know that they deteriorate quickly in a shelter environment with being away from their humans -  he was no exception to this.   Maui lost quite a bit of weight in his time at the shelter. Since coming into the rescue he has started to gain weight and feel better all around. Unfortunately, we have learned that Maui prefers to be the only doggo in his house as he tends to be hyper focused on other dogs when they’re around. He would likely benefit from training (and a strong owner) which will help him learn to look to his human for guidance and confidence. He has worked with a trainer and he has potential to be with other dogs - if given the proper tools. Here’s a bit more about Maui:    Energetic Loves his humans Loves zoomies Good with cats Loves water Loves walks Crate trained  Potty trained  does tend to counter surf and will eat food left out Maui does well with structure so a strong, confident owner is required to prevent bouncing around (German Shepherd experience is a plus!) Professional training is also highly encouraged and we’d be more than happy to give some recommendations :)    Maui has been through a lot in the last few months but really just wants to love on you! If you can help him by fostering or are interested in adoption APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com (or private message us if you’re already preapproved!)   **Maui’s $200 adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccines to date, heartworm test, current vet check, and microchip. ##2155245##

Story
Meet Kira, a highly energetic 5-year-old German Shepherd Belgian Malinois mix with a playful spirit and a heart full of curiosity! Kira loves to keep herself busy with her favorite toys—bones, stuffed animals, and ropes are some of her top picks. She’s always ready for a game and enjoys being active, making her the perfect fit for an active household that can match her energy. Kira is a smart and strong-willed dog who thrives with a confident leader to guide her, especially when it comes to managing her anxiety. She’s a gentle dog when it comes to treats, always taking them softly from your hand. Though she’s independent at times, Kira loves attention from her humans and will gladly show her playful side when you’re around. If you're looking for a confident, playful, and curious companion with lots of energy, Kira could be the perfect addition to your family. With the right guidance and love, Kira will be a loyal and loving partner in all your adventures. In the past, Kira lived with a male dog and played well with him. However, she doesn’t get along with female dogs, so she’d do best in a home as the only female dog or with a compatible male dog. We are unsure of how Kira would do in a household with cat friends. Kira recently went on a Doggy Day Out and did great. Here is what our Volunteers have to say about her: "Kira did great on her doggy day out. She's pretty mellow and does walk real well on a leash by your side, does not pull. We walked by a couple of dogs on our walk where Kira got a bit barky and animated so needs to be kept by your side. She is very attentive and aware of where you are when on walks and just being out. Kira is quiet and does great on car rides just lying down or looking out the window. Kira is a sweet, friendly gal. " Kira has an adoption fee of $300. She is a 6 year old German Shepherd who is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. she currently weighs 65.5 lbs. *If you are interested in adopting please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Hi! My name is Bucky Boy I am an 11 month year old, neutered male German Shepherd. I am microchipped, heartworm tested and current on my vaccines. 3 words that describe me: Silly, Playful and Affectionate Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: My friends at the shelter describe me as being a big playful guy who loves everyone! I walk well on leash and love playing with my dog friends. Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10) 7 Housetraining Status: I could use some work with house training but I will catch on super fast with a good routine and patience I would do well in a home with: I do well with other dogs but sometimes I get overexcited with other dogs. I would also do goof with kids but I am a big guy who may not realize my size so adult supervision is important! My favorite activities are: I love cuddling with my favorite people and going everywhere with them, I also enjoy going to doggy daycare and playing outside, I always get the zoomies when I go outside. Things I need work on are: I could use some work on my basic commands and work on leash walking manners Any special needs: N/A Doggy Day Out Notes: "Bucky boy did super on his day out! He is very friendly and playful and loves to stay active. He loves belly rubs and giving kisses. He is a super sweet boy who loves playing fetch. He does well in the car, enjoys hiking, and running!" Daycare Status: I have attended daycare at Raise the Woof Pet Resort. See my pictures for my report card! My adoption fee is: $300 Training Requirement if applicable: *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Timber and Mister were found running together in the country, and never reclaimed by their owner. Timber is approximately two years old and has looked to have had puppies in the past. She is a loving, sweet girl. Timber is very active, being a working-line German Shepherd. She will require a breed-knowledgeable owner. Timber does not seem to have been taught any basic manners, so she will need help with learning the ropes on how to become a great household member. ** BREED EXPERIENCE A MUST** “I come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy’s team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle me into your home. You can text unlimited questions to Petcademy and they'll respond within 24 hours (Monday-Friday).”

Sweet Westley was pulled out of the shelter after finding himself on the euthanasia list. The rescue that pulled him then put him through hell before he ended up with our partners and finally making his way here. He came to us fully emaciated. You could see every bone in his body. We have since been working to put weight on and he’s looking great. He will always be a smaller guy around knee height. Westley is the cool kid. He has all the friends and submits to the bullies. He’s a great guy good for any home!
