Story
Shadow arrived at the shelter as a stray in November. Upon intake, she was thin, timid and uncertain around the staff. Following the completion of her stray hold, she was transported to Lake Geneva Animal Hospital for spaying. During this procedure, an echocardiogram (echo) was performed, revealing a ventricular septal defect (VSD), a congenital heart defect, specifically a `hole in the center of her heart` within the wall separating the lower ventricles. This diagnosis was understandably concerning. While life expectancy for dogs with VSDs can be variable, especially at her young age, Shadow`s defect is unfortunately quite significant. The primary hope is that if she can reach 1-2 years of age, her condition may stabilize. Therefore, it is crucial to monitor her closely regarding any future anesthesia procedures.Despite the initial challenges, Shadow has undergone a remarkable transformation within the shelter environment, blossoming into a more confident and outgoing dog. While she is not particularly fond of all other dogs, she has been working on branching out. Unfortunately she is not a fan of cats at all. Although she has made significant progress, Shadow is still learning to trust humans and is now taking positive steps.Ask about her today!Adoption Information-•9 months old•Spayed•Tested negative for Heartworm •Microchipped •Wormed•Fecal tested•Still needs some guidance Please remember dog meetings are by an appointment with an approved application. Story
Astrid - almost 4 years old - is a beautiful, intelligent German Shepherd who embodies many classic traits of her breed: loyal, protective, and deeply bonded to her people. She`s looking for a calm, structured home where she can truly thrive as the only pet.She is incredibly affectionate with her foster family. Once she`s warmed up to you, she`ll seek out your attention, follow you around the house, and even crawl into your lap for cuddles on her own terms. She`s housebroken, kennel-trained, and knows several commands like sit, wait, kennel, and ok (release). She even comes when you whistle! In true shepherd fashion, Astrid is protective of her home and will alert bark at strangers. She requires slow, patient introductions to new people, but once she feels safe, her sweet, silly side shines through. She`s a great mix of playful and cuddly - she loves a good game of fetch and enjoys `talking` to let you know when she wants something. She walks well on a leash, but should be held close when passing other dogs. She does well with older, respectful children but is too stimulated by the fast movements of small kids, so a home without young children is best. She also loves being outside in a securely fenced yard, where she can patrol and chase the occasional squirrel or rabbit, but that is not required. She thrives in routine and familiarity - she`s not a fan of car rides or busy environments and prefers to stay close to home.If you`re a shepherd-savvy family looking for a devoted companion to share your quiet home, Astrid might just be your perfect match. With time, patience, and love, she will reward you with deep loyalty, silly antics, and endless affection.Could this be you?You can also watch for stories, pictures and videos about me on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/JrsPupsNStuffInc or Instagram https://www.instagram.com/jrspupsnstuff/Ask to meet me today!!Adoption fee: $500All dogs/puppies have been fully vetted including spay/neuter, micro-chipping, worming, heartworm testing and preventative treatment, flea/tick preventative, and all required age appropriate vaccinations. Story
Introducing Lady Catherine from the Pride & Prejudice litter! This super sweet Shepherd mix weighs 53 lbs. and is a medium-high energy dog. She takes a bit to warm up to new people, but once she does, she`ll be your best friend! However, due to her nervousness around new people, a quieter, less busy house would work best. She loves to play with her toys as well as run around outside! She`s food motivated and knows basic commands! She is: Potty trained Crate trained Playful Affectionate and gives kisses! Can have free run at night! Great watchdog and will let you know if you have company! She settles down at bedtime and can be left out her crate at night. She would do best in a house without dogs or cats. Story
Gunner is our featured #MedicalMonday pup, and he’s got quite the story. A transformation that’s nothing short of incredible. When Gunner first came to us, as a local stray with his buddy Koa, he was heartbreakingly thin—his body showing just how much he had been through. On top of that, he was diagnosed with Lyme disease, a condition caused by tick bites that can leave dogs feeling sore, tired, and just not themselves. With proper care, good nutrition, and treatment (antibiotics like Doxycycline), he’s already on the road to feeling better. Now his personality is shining…spunky, playful, and always ready for his next adventure (especially if toys are involved)! What Gunner needs now is someone willing to continue that journey with him—offering patience, love, and a forever home where he can truly thrive.Despite it all, Gunner never lost his spark. Help us give Gunner the happy ending he deserves. Apply to adopt him today! Adoption Information ~•Belgian Malinois •Experienced breed owner•5 years old•Neutered •Microchipped •Currently for yearly vaccinations •Heartworm negative What is Lyme Disease in Dogs? Lyme disease is something every dog owner should be aware of. It’s spread through tick bites and can affect even the most active active dogs. Signs to watch for:• Limping or stiffness• Low energy• Fever• Loss of appetiteSome dogs may not show symptoms right away, which is why prevention is so important! The good news its treatable. Most commonly with antibiotics like Doxycycline—especially when caught early.Protect your pup-• Use monthly tick prevention• Check your dog after outdoor time• Talk to your vet about the Lyme vaccineWith warmer weather comes more outdoor adventures… and unfortunately, more ticks. Protect your canine friend today!
