Story
Meet Rodger, a 2-year-old male Rottweiler/Pitbull mix.We don`t really know what breeds Rodger is but we do know that all combined they have made him very cute. Rodger has a large head with expressive eyes and fun ears, this body isn`t actually that large at only 58 pounds and his tail has this super fun curl. Rodger has a shinny coat that you can`t help but want to pet and he loves the staff at YHS to give him attention all day. This handsome boy keeps a clean kennel and enjoys walks, making him the perfect date! He is very playful, doing zoomies in the yard when excited. Rodger loves to play tug and even was play bowing to our photographer to try and entice her to play with him. He walks very well on leash and is a good boy! Rodger met another dog in the play yard and just wanted to play. He was all in when playtime started and even though he gets vocal it is all in good fun! This pet is available for adoption on 8/3/24 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal`s picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don`t Shop.

Story
Meet Fabian, a three year old Shepherd/Cattle dog mix.Fabian is a medium sized boy weighing in at 42 pounds. He has an adorable fleck of blue in one of his eyes that we think adds to his cuteness. Fabian walks well on leash and although he is new to our facility he has the smarts to pick up the routine rather quickly. He is very excited when he sees other dogs on leash but other than that he seems to be overall fairly calm and has a good energy level. He can be a bit mouthy when he doesn’t want to go back into his kennel but with Cattle Dog in his suspected breed mix that is to be expected. Fabian would probably do best in a home with no young kids right now, but that could change once he gets more comfortable. Fabian has a ton of potential to make an excellent dog and is already what we would call a “good boy”. Story
Meet Ruger, an eight month old German Shepherd mix.Ruger is a sweet boy who was brought in with his brother Mossberg. They were pretty scared when they were first brought in but always easy to handle with good dispositions. Ruger is kind of a big dork, he loves his belly rubs and is trying to figure out this new world. He is not leash trained, the leash is a scary new thing, but he will work on learning it for you. Ruger will be a fantastic family boy with just a little bit of time and consistency. Every day he comes more and more out of his shell. Story
Meet Winnie, a three and a half year old German Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix.Winnie is a sweet girl who is a bit skittish and unsure about all of the change in her life. She is a medium sized dog who weighs in at around 40 pounds. She just wants some reassurance, love and attention. Before her breakfast every morning she gives us a hug. She loves to eat her food off of a snuffle mat and may even enjoys a puzzle toy, we think this girl is pretty smart. She definitely doesn`t like being in the loud shelter will all the people coming and going, what she really wants is some stability and the comfort of knowing she has a home that is forever hers. Winnie is a bit unsure around new dogs and will sometimes bare her teeth at first to show them she is scared and doesn`t want to be messed with. However, once she has established these rules she then hangs out with the dogs just fine. She would be fine in a home with another dogs as long as people let her know she can`t boss the other dogs around or she can just be an only dog. We are hoping someone will take a second look at her as she really isn`t loving the shelter environment.
