FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Oh Cecil... we just know your forever home is out there!! Cecil has been with us since February and we's just a big goof. Cecil is the only brown one in the litter and got more of the Bully / Doberman look than his black and white siblings. DNA says they are Mutts! Shepherd, Bully, Doberman, Aussie, Cattle Dog and even a little chihuahua. Hee Hee. Cecil will be a year old in mid-November. He's about 65# and we think he will get a little bigger. Cecil is confident and friendly. He loves 'lovins' and to be acknowledged by his people. He will try for a lap but overall defaults to sleeping on a dog bed. He hasn’t gotten on the furniture except when there’s a person to cuddle with. He is respectful of the other dogs and plays well his foster siblings. Cecil is smart and housebroken. He does very well in his crate and sleeps through the night. Cecil thinks the resident cat is fun to bark at... but he does not chase. Dog savvy cats would be OK. Cecil does sometimes like to hear himself talk, go figure - he's got that GSD DNA in him. ;) We think his ideal home is one with a large fenced yard, and another larger friendly dog. Older kids would be fine, cuz Cecil is a big door and may knock over smaller children. This puppy is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Cecil has also been put on pet insurance and cleared orthopedically. He's great off leash, but as he's become a 'teenager' has gotten more excited and barks on leash. He's having some impulse control issues. We have recently started Cecil in private dog training with Evergreen School for Dogs in Arlington. His foster mom is taking him and says Cecil is very smart and responsive. IF he's not done with those lessons when he's adopted, they will transfer to the adoptive family. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Save-A-Mutt may require a training contract and refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience) on our larger breed puppies. Adoptions typically take place in Everett. This puppy is ready for it's new home! Adoption fee is $375. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet the Apple litter. Each puppy is so unique looking, and their DNA is just as unique! While mostly GSD, there is a bit Labrador / Catahoula / Husky and more. Lots of fun and friendly breeds. DNA is guessing they will be between 50-75#. These puppies were born 4/29/24 and are just over 4 months old as of September 1st. Pippin actually looks most like a shepherd with his dark muzzle and crazy ears. He has done great meeting the foster's pack, little and big dogs. He's settling in and a very sweet boy. We think their ideal home has a large fenced yard and a family ready to get this puppy out and socialized. Of course another friendly dog is always great. They are currently in foster homes with other dogs, and learning all things puppy, crate training, leash walking, etc. These puppies were found in an orchard outside of Fresno CA, and got Parvo a couple months ago. They are now happy, healthy pups ready for new adventures. This litter is super interesting. They 'refuse' to be crated during the day - making quite the racket. But put them in a crate (or human bed) at night in the foster's bedroom, not a peep for 8+ hours! So... we need patient adopters who either have a doggy door (they got this down for sure) or will teach the potty bells. They also the potty training thing down - going outside for the most part with few household accidents. Again... interesting. This puppy is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot! The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Save-A-Mutt may require a training contract and $100 refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience). You pick a trainer in your area, and upon completion of a 6+ week training class, we will refund the deposit. Adoption fee is $475. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Story
Calista is a beautiful, crazy, playful, rambunctious 2 year old German Shepherd. Found out in the woods in Rio Grande Valley with her mom and sister fending for themselves and trying to survive the coyotes. She was very skittish when she arrived at the rescue, and at times can still be, but she has come a long way. She gets excited and does a crazy spin in her excitement. She loves playing with other dogs, loves treats and playing with her foster siblings. She really needs a patient person who knows the breed and is willing to work with her and have the dedication to wait until she shows her very silly side :) Her foster mom has learned her secret- treats and smelling like hot dogs/ peanut butter helps! Calista loves other dogs and gets along great with her foster homes pack. She is playful and energetic with them. Sometimes maybe too energetic as she can be an escape artist and find even the smallest of holes in the fence to see if she can fit and make a b-line to the neighbors house! Calista will need to stay local to Texas for the time being. Each day she is gaining confidence and understanding and realizing that people are not all mean and that there ares some out there that really do love dogs and want nothing but goodness for them. If you think you are ready to give Calista love, attention and help her build trust and confidence in herself and you then please apply! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX only)

Story
Greetings, mortals! I am Aries, a majestic male dog with a powerful spirit that rivals the might of the gods themselves. My lineage is a fusion of strength and courage, much like the mythical Greek warriors of old. As a German Shepherd mix, I bear the mantle of both protector and loyal companion, ready to embark on epic adventures by your side. Behold, my most distinctive feature: my big, floppy ears that listen keenly to the whispers of the wind and the secrets of the world around me. They stand as a testament to my unwavering vigilance, always attuned to the slightest rustle or sign of danger. Like the fiery ram that represents my namesake constellation, I possess boundless energy and a fiery spirit. With every step I take, I channel the might of the heavens, exuding the strength and grace befitting of a true Greek hero. My paws tread the earth with purpose, and my heart beats with the fervor of an ancient battle cry. But fear not, for beneath my divine exterior lies a heart overflowing with affection. I am not just a warrior; I am a loyal and loving companion. Together, we shall conquer every challenge and forge an unbreakable bond that even the gods would envy. So, dear mortal, if you seek a canine ally who embodies the essence of a Greek legend, look no further. I, Aries, the German Shepherd mix with big floppy ears, am here to join you on a quest of a lifetime. Let us create a mythic tale of companionship and courage that will be sung by bards for generations to come. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
