Story
Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Meet Cooter, the ultimate "best of both worlds" dog who is ready to sprint straight into your heart! This stunning year-old Golden Retriever and German Shepherd mix makes everyone smile with his vibrant personality. Cooter is the perfect age to start a lifetime of adventures, combining the legendary loyalty of a Shepherd with the goofy, sunshine-filled heart of a Golden. Cooter is a high-energy athlete, currently a 60-pound fun-seeking missile, who believes life is one giant game of fetch. Whether you are looking for a dedicated hiking partner or a champion zoomie-competitor for your backyard, this boy is up for the task. Because he is such a smart doggo, he’ll thrive in a home that can keep his mind as busy as his paws through training, puzzles, and plenty of outdoor play. He is a "blank slate" teenager just waiting for a family to teach him the ropes and turn all that youthful enthusiasm into refined skill. While his energy is boundless, his favorite place to be is right by your side. After a long day of exploring, Cooter’s affectionate side takes over, and he’s more than happy to settle in for some serious ear scratches and belly rubs. Leash training has begun for Cooter, along with working on sitting and waiting rather than rocketing through any open door. You will want to continue his training on the basics to help him become the best dog he can be! Cooter is housetrained, though does occasionally suffer from some "excitement urination." This is something he will likely outgrow as he becomes a fully adult dog over the next year; having a stable home, family, and routine will also help! He was surrendered through no fault of his own and is now looking for an active household that can match his zest for life. Cooter is good with other dogs, NOT a friend to cats, and, though he LOVES small children, he's a bit too much dog for toddlers, who would be like bowling pins facing Cooter's ball of enthusiasm. If you have the space in your home and your heart for a smart, spirited, and soulful companion, come meet Cooter today and see if you’re the perfect match for this golden-hearted Shepherd! All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Cooter is a suggested minimum of $150 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
We'll also keep you updated on Dolli's adoption status with email updates.

Story
Meet sweet Dolly, a stunning 8-9 yr old spayed female German Shepherd (PetLink chip + collar), is loyal, affectionate, and brimming with puppy energy. She craves closeness and shines with confident handlers who offer love. Originally from Alamosa, CO, she joined us in Oroville, WA last July when her elderly owner couldn't keep her. Last shots in summer 2024. With our new baby and busy life, we sadly can't keep her. She needs the focus she deserves. It's heartbreaking but we want her happiest. She great on leash and needs close watch off-leash (she will wander, comes when called). Loves snuggles, gets vocal in cars and when she sees other animals. She guards food, ideal with positive, patient meal routines. Best fit: no young kids, (does fine with my teenager). New owner needs to be savvy with slow intros with other dogs. Dolly thrives with daily walks, short training routine and one on one time. Lets find this sweet girl her perfect home.🐾💕nicoledenisenow@gmail.com
