Story
Animal Profile: Kimber is a beautiful 5-year-old, 54 lb female German Shepherd who was found wandering as a stray and taken to Everett Animal Shelter. When the shelter environment was too stressful for her, we gave her a "jail break" and she's now in our foster care. Kimber has been waiting for a forever home since November 2021. Please share and help her find her forever family! Foster Update: Kimber is affectionate and bonds quickly with her person. She is looking for an adopter who is experienced with high-energy dogs and is willing to continue working with her. She loves lounging in the house and looking out the windows. Her ideal home environment would be an adult-only household with working breed experience and a securely fenced yard. She has completed a 4-week board and train program with Lugaru K9 Training to address leash reactivity. Kimber can now walk nicely on leash and knows the following commands: sit, down, place, heel and leave it. She's not a candidate for dog parks as she easily gets over aroused and needs slow introductions to other dogs.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, all core vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a federal 501c3 organization.  Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-applicationNovember 16, 2024, 12:23 am

Story
Animal Profile: Freya is an estimated 4-year-old, 60 lb female German Shepherd who has a lot of love to give. She is smart and loves to work for you. She will thrive with a strong leader --  otherwise she is prone to anxiety. She is house trained, crate trained, fully obedience trained and will do best with a Shepherd-savvy owner capable of providing her with guidance as well as physical and mental stimulation. Freya LOVES to fetch and BALL IS LIFE. She walks well on a leash with a training collar. This loyal and affectionate girl is slow to warm up to new people and will need an owner who is comfortable managing her safe introductions to strangers, but once you earn her trust, she's very eager to please. Freya has lived with other dogs and loves to play with them; she's good with dogs big and small, male and female. At this time we are prioritizing a home for Freya with a resident dog(s) as we think she would do best in a pack. She's also been tested with cats and exhibits no prey drive, and is amusingly scared of chickens. She is currently living in a home with small children and has done well with them, but we would prefer to place her in an adult-only home.  Adopter Profile:  Large dog experience required Shepherd experience preferred Single family residence required (no apartments) Secure fenced yard required Other balanced dog(s) preferred Cats OK No kids preferred Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $400 which includes spay/neuter, all core vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a federal 501c3 organization.  TAKE HOME TRAINING SESSION INCLUDED WITH ADOPTION Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Freya was found as a stray in Dec 2020 in Tacoma extremely underweight (40 lbs) and very scared. She was taken into Tacoma Humane Society and transferred to Dog Gone Seattle. She was fostered with DGS for several months while she learned basic manners and gained 15 lbs. She was adopted in March 2021 and lived with a caring family. Unfortunately they lived in a condo with no secure yard in a busy urban environment, which proved too challenging for Freya with those particular owners. She was returned to DGS in April 2022 and received a professional board and train with our training partner Seattle K9 Command. She is now being fostered in Bothell and available for adoption in the greater Seattle area.  November 16, 2024, 12:23 am

Story
Jazzy is a 2yr-old female German Shepherd  who -- along with her three siblings -- was abandoned in eastern WA and taken in by Quincy Animal Shelter. They were transferred and will be fostered in Seattle to learn crate and house training, basic obedience and social skills. We will share more as we get to know Jazzy in foster care.   Foster Update: Jazzy is a beautiful German Shepherd  with the personality to match! She is an active girl who would love to go on adventures with you. She loves people and always wants to be by your side. She especially likes to sleep cuddled up next to someone. Jazzy is dog friendly and likes to play outside with her foster dog brothers. If you're looking for an active pup who will want to be your best friend and adventure buddy, Jazzy's a wonderful girl! She will do best in a home with large-breed dog experience, a securely fenced yard, and another dog in the home. Jazzy is interested in cats, and wants to chase them so may be best if there are no cats in the home.  Adoption Info:  The adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, flea/tick treatment, deworming, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Animal History: This animal was dumped at less than 4 months in Mattawa WA and taken into Quincy Animal Shelter; WSU was able to provide vetting and they arrived to Dog Gone Seattle Foster care on Thursday 3/9/23. S/he will be available for adoption to the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.   November 6, 2024, 5:36 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Leo fka Robb is an estimated 3-year-old male Shepherd mix who was adopted as a young puppy after we accepted him from California where he was found as a stray in a Chino dumping zone along with his sibling Sansa and mom Catelyn. He joined us in Seattle on 10/10, along with Sansa and Catelyn. Leo was returned to the rescue after a couple of years due to a divorce in the family, lacking socialization and training. He was fostered with a trainer for several weeks and is now thriving and ready for a loving forever home.  Seattle Foster Update: Leo has progressed well in his time with us as a foster. When Leo arrived to us from training he was moderately reactive, but quickly blossomed to a friendly, tail wagging, bouncy boy. Leo is in a word eccentric. He is a cuddle bug and a hermit and assumes the oddest positions imaginable to get close to his owners. He is crate trained perfectly and enjoys the safe environment the crate provides for him. If you’re unwilling to give Leo a crate then you’re not the right home for him. He needs his escape and downtime to be the best boy. Leo warms up slowly to new people and dogs, and his new owners should be selective in dog introductions as he will react if confronted and doesn’t like in your face dog encounters. He plays well with male Collie and male Malinois and he has a firm truce with our selective female Bulldog. He lives with our cats and is completely disinterested in them. So, cat friendly. Leo will never be a dog park dog. So no dog parks. We don’t have kids in the household so don’t have awareness there. He has no food aggression but he's still working on taking treats gently. Leo will be a great hiking buddy and walks beautifully on leash. He doesn’t have marked stranger danger but again the policy will likely be "please don’t pet my dog without proper introductions." Adopter Profile: Dog experience required Fenced yard required Other dog/dogs in the home a plus Cats okay Older kids okay Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $500, which includes spay/neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and heartworm test. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue.  Apply online at www.DogGoneSeattle.org  November 6, 2024, 5:36 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Watermelon is an estimated 1-year-old 70 lb neutered male German Shepherd who was taken into the high-kill Downey Animal Shelter in Los Angeles as a stray, and never claimed. The shelter assessed him to be friendly with people and other dogs, and comfortable with handling with no medical or behavior flags, however he was euth listed for space after a long stay over one month in the shelter. This resilient boy got a one-way ticket to Seattle with a foster offer and will be joining Dog Gone Seattle on July 28. We will share more about him as we get to know him in foster care.  Foster Update: Watermelon, aka Sunny in his foster home, is an affectionate, self confident boy. He is very intelligent and learns quickly. Sunny is young and has quite a bit of energy, but is able to settle in the house well. He is crate and potty trained and even quickly learned to “do his business” in one specific spot in the yard. He enjoys long walks and does well on leash except when he sees a squirrel or bunny. He’s working on containing his excitement in this situation, and will benefit from a confident handler who is willing to continue to work with him on his leash skills. Sunny is a sweet boy who would love an active family to call his own! Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV, heartworm test if 6 months or older, microchip with lifetime registration, and health certificate. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application< Animal History: Watermelon was picked up as a stray in southern California and taken to the high-kill Downey animal shelter where he was placed on the euthanasia list for space. With foster commitment he was tagged and will be transported to Seattle arriving 7/28/24. Story
Animal Profile: Nick is an estimated 1-year-old 65 lb neutered male German Shepherd mix who was taken into the high-kill Downey Animal Shelter in Los Angeles as a stray with a severe laceration on his back leg, and never claimed. The shelter treated his wound, and assessed him to be friendly with people and other dogs, and comfortable with handling. Unfortunately he was euth listed for space after a long stay over one month in the shelter. This resilient boy got a one-way ticket to Seattle with a foster offer and will be joining Dog Gone Seattle on July 28. We will share more about him as we get to know him in foster care.  Foster Update: Nick is a really sweet, smart boy. He loves to put his head in my lap for pets and head snuggles but does not try to jump up on the couch or bed. He really likes to be around people and is a bit of a velcro dog so crate training and time alone are a work in progress, but he is improving quickly with this. He walks well on leash and even lets me wipe his paws before coming back in the house without any issues. Nick would love an active family who is around most days and can give him the love and attention he deserves. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV, heartworm test if 6 months or older, microchip with lifetime registration, and health certificate. Story
Toby is a 5-6 year old, 90-100lb Shepherd mix who is looking for his perfect forever home. Toby was abused in his past and due to this will need a very specific family. He is very sweet and loyal with his people once he is bonded. Toby is looking for a home that has a fully fenced yard out of the city. Somewhere rural and quiet would be perfect for him! He prefers women to men and can take some time to trust men. His ideal home would be female only, but could do ok with a female/male couple if the man was patient and could build trust with him. Toby needs a home without kids and other animals. No other dogs or cats. Toby can walk fine on leash around other dogs but needs to be the only dog in the home. Toby loves to run and play and will love to spend time with his people in his backyard soaking up the sun and running around. Toby is neutered, UTD on shots and microchipped. His adoption fee is $200.

Story
Animal Profile: Buttercup is a 3-year-old, 55 lb spayed female "Texas Brown Dog" who joined us from Texas on 7/15/22 as an unsure adolescent. We have worked diligently with her in training to improve her confidence so she can be successful in her forever home. Foster Update: This energetic girl will do anything for a treat and very much wants to please her humans. She is building confidence; however, her anxious energy translates to reactivity at times. Off-leash she greets humans with excitement or indifference both in the house and the yard. She is doing well with the three large resident male dogs in the house after structured integration. She can play all day and has benefited from dog companions who can gently correct and/or join in her exuberance, as well as lead her in confident appropriate behaviors. She is potty trained and crate trained and often goes into her crate on her own to relax. She has demonstrated some significant prey drive toward the neighbors cat, so we think this girl will be best in a cat free home. While in foster care, Buttercup has received training from Bulletproof Balanced Training; her adopter will receive a private take-home training session. This girl is destined to be a wonderful loving member of her forever pack. Adopter Profile: Adult-only household Large breed experience preferred Secure fenced yard preferred Other dogs preferred (not required) Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $400 which includes spay, core vaccinations per AVMA guidelines, negative heartworm test for dogs 6 months and older, and microchip. Story
Animal Profile: Hedwig is a 6 month old (DOB 12/16/23) Dutch Shepherd Malinois mix (DNA tested) female who was brought to Fresno Humane along with her littermates, who have been adopted. She was left behind and placed on bite quarantine for accidentally biting a volunteer who was playing with her with a waterhose (which is the most exciting thing ever to Hedwig). She is not aggressive but she is a typical high drive puppy and will need a breed savvy adopter to be her best self. We will share more about her as we get to know her in foster care.  Foster Update: Hedwig is a little firecracker! She’s smart, eager to please, and a lot of fun to work with. She’s a friendly girl but can be shy when first meeting new people. It doesn’t take her long to warm up though. Hedwig is crate trained and house trained with a good routine. She loves to play with people and dogs, but can be a bit pushy with her plays style; she’d probably do best in a home with a balanced dog that would be able to tolerate and appropriately correct her when needed. Hedwig needs a dog savvy family in a single family dwelling and a securely fenced yard, she’ll be amazing at whatever task her new family sets before her!  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization. Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Hedwig was surrendered to Fresno Humane along with her littermates on 5/16/2024 and transferred to Dog Gone Seattle via Wiggle Butts, arriving to foster care on June 30, 2024.
