Story
COOPER A ‘surprise’ litter after a family brought a female dog home and she went into labor June 11, 2024 - the pups needed a forever plan (DNA tests identified Swiss Shepherd, German Shepherd & Labrador). Fostered with children and other dogs, Cooper prefers to be with other dogs to gain confidence and held by people, he is shy and needs time to warm up to new public places. He sleeps belly up on a dog bed and is a very smart puppy. His ears now STAND UP and his shepherd side is showing. He has a bark during play and likes to learn things. Neutered, up to date on vaccines and on prevention. He will be a large dog. Age: 6 months old (born June 2024) Favorite Color: Blue Favorite Toy: Nylabone Textured Chew Ring Favorite Food: Apple Crunchie Treats Fostered in Texas. *Adoption Fee includes transport to PNW, Midwest or NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT states by pet transport partners. Story
Meet Nitro! He is a big, beautiful black shepherd mix adult dog estimated at under 5 years old. His head is about hip high and he weighs in at 84 lbs. presently but he is incredibly easy to walk on leash without pulling. Being an adult, he is out of the puppy stage so no worries about house training or chewing. He loves human attention, cuddles and seeks to please, very good at "sit", takes treats very gently, loves to play with balls and toys and is dog friendly and learning quickly how to interact with cats! He is presently in Texas in temporary foster and coming to New England December 16th, just in time for the snowy, cozy Holidays up north! If you are interested in learning more about him, adopting or even just helping out as a temporary foster for him until he finds his forever home in New England, please reach out as soon as possible to Village for Paws Rescue at villageforpawsrescue@gmail.com for more information and/or to fill out an application.

Story
Thor's story is coming soon!!! Adoption fee for Thor is $700.00. Are you his new family?  Please fill out our adoption application at:http://petstablished.com/adoption_form/24721/generic Over the past almost 2 years the numbers of local surrenders has skyrocketed. For example, Marley and her Puppy from last summer were both local surrenders. Both needed to be fully vetted, spayed/neutered, and cared for before going to their forever homes. People like us open our homes for them, but the rescue provides their food and crates and anything else they need. The expenses add up. Adoption fees don’t begin to cover the costs for some of these dogs. We do our part by providing a loving temporary home, socializing the dogs, getting to know their behaviors, etc. (by the way, we do it voluntarily, w no compensation). But we do see the money spent on all these dogs before they can even meet their potential family. So for all my animal loving friends out there…if you could be so kind, and make a donation, $5, $10 (or more) to help raise funds for Survivors Paws Animal Rescue Inc so they can continue to feed, treat, and adopt out these beautiful dogs, We would greatly appreciate it!  There are many more dogs waiting for their turn to be adopted. Over average it costs Survivor's Paws between $900.00 to $1.200.00 on average to save local dogs.  Spay and neuter clinics for dogs in the Upper Valley are slim and booking out months down the road.  We can't keep a dog in foster for 6 to 9 months waiting for a spay/neuter clinic to have space so we have to use our local vets.  Our adoption fees do not even cover our bet bills. Please SHARE,  donate, foster, volunteer and adopt.   Please fill out our adoption application at:http://petstablished.com/adoption_form/24721/generic Please DO NOT call to see if our dogs are still available.   We require our application be filled out before we answer any questions.  Please call your veterinarian's office to grant permission for Survivor's Paws Animal Rescue to speak with them. Adopt local. We are a local White River Jct., VT, NH and Connecticut rescue. When you adopt from Survivor's Paws....you become part of Survivor's Paws family. A Survivor's Paws representative will meet you with your puppy or dog on the day of transport. We help you proper introductions with other fur members of your household. We offer love, support, advise and training throughout your puppy/dog lives. Become part of Survivor's Paws family and adopt from Survivor's Paws Animal Rescue. You must be 21 in order to adopt from us. Please fill out the application on a computer, not a cell phone. We do NOT guarantee that you will get approved to adopt from us. We will be in contact with you as soon as we are ready to begin to process your application usually within 48 to 72 hours. The whole process can take a week or longer depending on how many applications we receive. Please understand we are volunteers, we work, have families and holidays on top of volunteering to save dogs on days off, evenings, and weekends. We do NOT adopt to Massachusetts, Rhode Island at this time. All potential adopters with dogs must have them up to date on vaccinations, altered, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. ##2186708##

Story
Meet Rex! Rex is searching for a new home - no fault of his own.  His current owners are in poor health and looking to move into assisted living. He needs help quickly.  Rex would do best in a home with another dog and/or cat, as he’s used to living with other animals. Young children would be too energetic for Rex, but we think he could do well with older, gentle children.    Rex is 6 yrs old and is guessed to be a Shepard/Husky mix.  Rex is a shy and gentle guy who appreciates having time to warm up to new people and situations.  His sweet nature shines through once he’s comfortable.  Rex is highly food motivated which makes training easier. If you have treats, you are an immediate friend.  He knows “sit”, “paw” and “gentle”.  Rex has mostly been in a fenced area, so will need support and training with his leash walking.   Rex will be neutered prior to going to his new home.   Rex has lived a quiet life so still gets a little nervous in unfamiliar environments or with new people.  He's best introduced slowly and given time to adjust at his own speed.  Rex is not aggressive; he is a sensitive boy and is unsure of himself. He’s still figuring out how to navigate the outside world. He can jump when excited, but with the right training, he'll quickly learn to keep all four paws on the ground!   Rex is ready to bond with a new family who can support him through his journey of becoming the confident, happy pup we know he can be!        December 4, 2024, 8:48 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.SCOUT was born at the Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine, the night after we brought his mom, a pure bred German Shepherd Dog into our care. He was born on 21st September 2024 and has lived with his siblings, his mom and a few other teenage German Shepherd Dogs.   We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page. SCOUT was neutered on 25 September, he is current on his vaccinations, although he will require his rabies as he is currently too young for that vaccine. He is microchipped and at the time of his neuter surgery weighed 12.60 pounds. We do not know what breed he is mixed with, but can confidently say his mother is a German Shepherd Dog - RHEA and can be seen in the photos. SCOUT is a young pup and so his personality is in the early stages of development and so it will be the family and home environment that dictates how he behaves as he grows up. There is no reason for him to not be great around children of any ages, unless of course the child/ren make him fearful or hurt him. We do not have any age restrictions for families with children, but do expect responsible families in regards to both children and the pup and have 100% supervision when they are together. SCOUT will need a family that has the time and means to care for a pup, which includes training, socialization and explosing him to as many environments as possible, but in a way that he is comfortable, safe and happy. He is going to be a medium/large dog and so an active lifestyle is important as well as a family understanding the mental needs and intelligence of this kind of dog. We are looking for a family that understands he will be teething, he will be going through his "teenage" phase and will be a lot of work. Scout has an adoption fee of $550 Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue in SEBEC, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application.
