Story
Meet Chip! He is an approximately 2 year old, male, Black German Shepherd mix that weighs 58lbs. He was found in Buffalo Creek on 10/21/2024 and never reclaimed. He can be a bit shy at first but he has had his heart broken before, so he will need some time to warm up to a new family! He walks well on a leash and knows a few basic commands. He does well with other dogs both large and small. Chip will need someone with time and patience to help him boost his confidence and become the best family companion he can be! Due to his heightened sensitivity for unexpected movement and loud noises, Chip is not currently suggested with children younger than 14 years old. Chip loves to be around his people and enjoys keeping busy! If you have another dog in the home, a meet and greet is encouraged to make sure they get along prior to adoption. Chip has been searching for his furr ever home for 117 days as of 02/15/2025 and is now considered a Diamond Dog! His adoption fee is $75. Chip is neutered, microchipped, current rabies vaccination, basic boosters, and heartworm negative. If you are interested in making Chip the newest member of your home, please visit https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ to fill out an application and RAC staff will be in touch with next steps!  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. Story
Hi! I'm Liberty. I am approximately 1 year old, German Shepherd mix that weighs approx. 69lbs. I was recently surrendered by my owner because they did not have time for me. I am so excited to start a new chapter in life! Hopefully I will find a family that has knowledge of my breed and the time to spend with me. I am a very loyal girl who really loves my people. I am a bouncy, silly, fun and loving girl! I can be energetic at times but after all I am only 1 year old which means I am like a 7-year-old in human years. My child like curiosity and wonder makes me an excellent learner. I soak up everything like a sponge. Consistent training will help me acclimate to my new environment once adopted and will enhance my good girl vibe. I am suggested with older kids who are respectful of larger dogs and know how to play with me appropriately. I have gotten along with other dogs but if you have another dog in the home, I will need to meet them prior to adoption to ensure that they will accept me in the home and my overall eagerness and energy prior to adoption. My adoption fee is $125. I am spayed, microchipped, up to date on my basic yearly boosters, and heartworm negative. Submit your adoption application today by visiting https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/. Once submitted, RAC staff will be in touch with next steps.  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Story
Meet Chevy! Chevy is the most handsome 8 year old pup you will ever lay your eyes on! And he’s got the brains and personality to match! Which to be honest doesn’t always happen haha. He was surrendered by his family to the shelter with his brother. His brother was adopted but Chevy found himself left behind and set to be euthanized for space. When we saw he only had a few hours left we busted him out and I’m so glad we did. Chevy is going to make a family so incredibly happy one day. He is truly a unicorn dog. Going through our temperament evaluation there’s typically a few little things that come up…. Not with Chevy though. Every test we through his way he passed with flying colors. Truthfully it’s almost been a bit boring but he is certainly 100% good boy certified! -Good With Other Dogs. Has an “all out” play style. -Very Sweet and submissive with people. -House/Crate Trained -Leash/Obedience Work We Are Currently Working On. Definitely Had No Work Prior. -Demands belly rubs and he’s cute enough to where you will cave in and give them. -Lower drive GS -High Energy and social would be a great adventure buddy We do not ships dog out of state. All adopters must travel to Dallas to meet their potential animal in person before moving forward with an adoption trial run.

Story
Hi there! My name is Nala! I am a 1 year old German Shepherd female that weighs around 50 Lbs. I was recently surrendered to the shelter due to my family no longer being able to care for me. So now I am available for adoption and hoping to find my furever family soon. I am a very sweet girl! I am social, love toys, and know a few basic commands. I still need a little leash work but I am a good girl and want to learn. If you have another dog in the home, it's best to do a meet and greet to ensure we get along before you decide to take me home. My adoption fee is $125. I am spayed, microchipped, current rabies vaccination, and my boosters are to date. I did test heartworm positive but thanks to Rockwall PAWS, I will be able to receive treatment at little to no cost to my adopter. If you have questions over my treatment or heartworms please ask a RAC staff member. They are happy to answer any questions you may have. If you are interested in adopting me, please complete an online adoption application at https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/. Story
Hi there! My name is Brownie. I am a 3 year old female German Shepherd mix that weighs around 53 lbs. I was recently surrendered to the shelter as my family could no longer take care of me. I am hopeful to find a new family to love! I am an affectionate girl and am very gentle when I jump up for hugs. I love to cuddle and spend time with my humans. I do need a little time to warm up as I have been through some heartache and am learning to open up to people. I enjoy playing and am interested in most toys! Blankets are a must as I enjoy bundling up and hunkering down. It is unknown how I do with other dogs, so a meet and greet is suggested if you have another pet I the home prior to adoption. My adoption fee is $125. I am spayed, microchipped, current on my rabies vaccination, and my basic boosters are to date. I did test positive for heartworms but thanks to Rockwall PAWS, I will be able to receive treatment at little to no cost to my adopters. Story
Hi there! My name is Samson! I am a 2 year old male German Shepherd/Husky mix that weighs around 60 Lbs. I was found off of Anna Cade in Rockwall County on 03/06/25 and never reclaimed by my owners. Now I am available for adoption and looking forward to finding a family that will love me fu-ever! I am a playfully energetic boy. I walk well on a leash but need a little work on basic commands. I love getting affection and positive reinforcements for being a good boi! I came in with another large dog and do great with them, but I have not been tested with any other dogs since I'm still new to the crew here at the shelter. Therefore, if you have another dog in the home, a meet and greet is encouraged prior to adopting me and taking me home. My adoption fee is $125. I am neutered, microchipped, current on my rabies vaccination, basic boosters to date and heartworm negative. Story
Hey there, I'm Luke! I've got more energy than a toddler on a sugar rush and a sense of humor that would give any stand-up comedian a run for their money. I tried my paw at being a service dog, but it turns out my goofy antics were a bit too much. I'm not one to brag, but I've got brains to boot. I can fetch, sit, and even give high-fives! I'm basically a big, lovable goofball. But what I want most is a family who'll appreciate my unique personality and zest for life. If you're looking for a dog who's more fun than a barrel of monkeys and smarter than your average bear, then I'm your guy. Adopt me and let's start our adventure together! Please call 972-524-4709 with any other questions or if you would like more information. Our adoption fee for our animals includes: All vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter, deworming, and tick/flea treatment
