Story
Chase was surrendered with another dog in the family home when his owner unfortunately passed away. Chase can be viewed and adopted, however he is still acclimating to their shelter, so he cannot meet children under 13-years-old. He is very timid and scared in the shelter. Experienced dog owners only at this time.

Story
Meet HK and Mac! A dynamic duo hailing from Kingston, Oklahoma, inseparable buddies seeking their forever home together. Playful and affectionate, these two are a bundle of joy waiting to bring endless happiness to the right family! HK, a striking German Shepherd at 2 years old, and Mac, a charming Terrier/Pit mix at 3, form an unbreakable bond. With their large size and boundless energy, they thrive in environments where they can roam freely and play to their heart's content! Their favorite pastimes include frolicking together, gnawing on bones, and gleefully squeaking their toys. Both are quick learners, responding to commands like "No," "Sit," and "Stay" with enthusiasm and readiness for playtime. While they adore each other's company, their shared desire for exploration means they require a securely fenced yard to prevent any escape attempts. Mac's history suggests a propensity for chasing cats, an issue that potential adopters should be mindful of, a feline-free household would be a must for this pair. In terms of health, Mac is already fixed with up-to-date shots, while HK awaits his turn for neutering, a cost the current caregiver is willing to cover. However, due to their lively nature, ongoing monitoring and training may be necessary, particularly to manage HK's eagerness to engage in play. What truly sets HK and Mac apart is their boundless affection and keen awareness of their surroundings. They relish belly rubs and are ever-vigilant, demonstrating a protective streak that enhances their appeal as loyal companions! For their future family, continuity is key; they must remain together to ensure their continued happiness and well-being. If you're ready to open your heart and home to this delightful duo, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com for more information on bringing HK and Mac into your life!

Story
I got Broly as a puppy at 8 weeks, he is a little over two now. He still has a lot of puppy energy, but he is a doll. Unfortunately, I work a lot and he is just stuck at my apartment most of the day. It is hard for me to take him outside living where I live at the moment so I want him to go to someone that has a house with a backyard and someone who has more time to devote to him. He is a lot of work, but he is worth it.

Story
Meet Lester! Lester is a special needs adoption, and not just because he’s a dog in a “cat & kitten” rescue group. At 65 pounds, this shepherd mix is loyal, protective, smart, playful and affectionate. He also has a severe hip displasia making it vital that he stay slim and low-key. Surgery may be in his future, but at the moment he’s doing well on medications. He lives with cats and another big dog, but kids under 12 would probably not be good. Not because of any negatives - but he could hurt himself romping and rough-housing. Even running can be a strain. He is house-trained as well as crate-trained, and because no one is perfect, we will disclose his one bad habit - he likes to get into the trash. So prospective houses need to have a closed lid trashcan or one that’s hidden. Estimated DOB 12/1/19 We are waiving his adoption fee because of his special needs, and just ask for a donation. ************************************** Our adoption fees are $125 for one, $200 for 2, and cover the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots, microchip, combo test, deworming, and collar and ID tag. We require our adopters are 21 years old or older, keep the cat inside only (unless on a leash/harness or in a catio), and do not declaw.

Story
Hi, I’m Licorice Since you are reading this, you’re obviously looking for a new best friend - hey, so am I!  It doesn’t matter how old you are or what you look like, but in case these things matter to you, I was born sometime in May 2023. I’m a mixed breed and weigh approximately 50 lbs. I have a gorgeous black shiny coat with the most stunning white star on my chest. My foster mommy named me after her favorite candy.  Hey, that’s me in the picture. Ain't I handsome? I was born somewhere in East Texas and came from a litter of seven puppies.  My sisters and I were abandoned June 2023 on the side of the road in a cardboard box.  We were very hot and thirsty, and our tummies were grumbling, because the grass and rocks we ate were not keeping us full.  Luckily, a Good Samaritin saved us and called Cody's Friends Rescue.  We were even more lucky when Cody's found a foster family that would take all seven of us together!  All of my sisters have been adopted or moved to new foster homes, but I am still waiting for my furever family.  In my foster home is my foster mommy, daddy, and my favorite human buddy (check us out in the photos).  There is also Conway a 3 year old pit bull/lab mix, and my best friend Mia who's the same age as me (check us out in the photos)! Want to know my favorite color?  It’s green of course - just look at my collar. I love playing with squeaky toys, balls, and tug-o-war with rope toys.  I am a big chewer and definitely need chew toys to keep me busy.  My most favorite chew toys are yak sticks and chew hooves. I am very energetic and active, but when I’m pooped out, I love to chill out on the sofa while getting belly rubs. I really try to restrain myself, but I can’t help digging in my foster dad’s veggie garden and compost bin.  He sure isn’t happy about that, but digging is so much fun! I also like to steal and chew my foster family's socks.  I am crate trained and whenever you leave home it's a good idea to put me in a crate, so I am not tempted to chew something I shouldn't. Meeting new dogs and going to the dog park is very overwhelming for me, so my foster mommy says I would do much better as an only dog or with only one selective buddy. I am especially good at math and know exactly how many treats are in your pocket at all times. I hope you like kisses, because I am very affectionate and love giving wet doggy kisses. I am kid-friendly, house trained, crate trained, fully vetted, microchipped, neutered, and let's not forget extremely handsome!  What more could ya want? So . . .  what do you say?  You wanna be my bestie FOREVER? ##1775629##

Story
This might be one of the MOST INTERESTING stories we've come across!  These  pups were found and rescued by the Wood County Sherriff's office.  The jail trustees and an assigned deputy take care of them in a maintenance building and train them. These lucky pups are sweet and friendly and they are also housebroken and crate trained!  Leash training is coming along very well. Lily has been spayed and is up to date on all vaccinations as well as heartworm prevention.  She is heartworm NEGATIVE. Let's continue to assist with a happy ending for these babies by findng forever homes for them! Cody's adopts dogs in the greater DFW area and does not adopt puppies under the age of 6 months into apartment homes.   https://bit.ly/codys_adoption_application. ##2081834##
