Story
Sandy Cheeks is a gentle, thoughtful little lady with a soft, steady way of moving through the world. She loves calm, cozy spaces where she can relax by a window, watch squirrels and people go by, or quietly follow her foster around to see what’s happening. She enjoys soft pets and quiet companionship — she’ll often sigh happily and drift right off to sleep. Sandy has a simple routine that suits her beautifully. She enjoys one longer walk each day plus a couple shorter outings, and with a little encouragement she’ll explore new spots, sniff around, and take in the scenery before heading back home. She’s house-trained, understands “no,” and settles nicely whether she’s in her crate, on her bed, or curled up on the couch. She does great when left to roam freely in the home, too. Sandy is a sweet, sensitive soul, and she blossoms with someone who can give her patience, predictability, and gentle encouragement. She has lovely moments where she leans in and shows her warm personality, and other times when she simply needs a little space. It’s never a lack of desire to connect; she genuinely wants to. She just needs time, consistency, structure, and someone who understands that trust for her is something beautifully earned. Because she thrives in peaceful environments, Sandy is looking for a quiet home with one or two adults and no children. She loves cats, though we’re still learning how she feels about other dogs. She’s a wonderful match for an patient adopter who can offer the steady routine that helps her feel her best. If you’re someone who appreciates a gentle, soulful companion and finds joy in watching a dog slowly shine, Sandy Cheeks may be the perfect match. With time and trust, she’ll show you just how much love she has to give.

Story
Kali is a purebred German Shepherd, almost five years old, with a big heart and lots of energy. She loves to play, run, and be around people. We adopted her when we had a large home in New York, but after relocating to Texas and moving into an apartment—along with welcoming a new baby—we no longer have the space or time to give her the active lifestyle she deserves. Kali would thrive in a home with a yard and an owner who can give her plenty of exercise, attention, and continued training. She’s loyal, intelligent, and full of love—ready to be the perfect companion for someone who can match her energy and affection.

Story
Meet Sydney, a serene and affectionate Belgian Malinois Shepherd mix with a heart as gentle as her gaze. Sydney is the definition of calm—nothing seems to faze her. She’s incredibly dog and cat friendly, and her low to medium energy level makes her a wonderful match for a peaceful home. Sydney is being fostered in a loving home in San Antonio, TX, where she gets along beautifully with her German Shepherd foster sister. Sydney walks beautifully on a leash and makes an excellent walking buddy for those who enjoy quiet neighborhood strolls. However, her true happy place is outside—she absolutely thrives in a yard where she can explore, relax, and enjoy nature. A home with outdoor space is a must for this sweet girl. Potty trained and polite, Sydney is well-mannered around the house. She's a little shy when meeting new people or visiting unfamiliar places, so she’ll need a patient and loving family willing to give her time to settle in. Once she trusts you, she’ll show you her soft, affectionate side and soak up every bit of attention you're willing to give. Sydney is also a cozy cuddle buddy—she loves curling up next to you on the couch for some quiet bonding time. While she’s not a fan of car rides, Sydney is happy living the homebody life. She’s currently looking for a foster or adopter in Central Texas who can offer her the calm, consistent environment she deserves. If you're looking for a gentle, loyal companion, Sydney is ready to make your heart her home. To see more pictures and videos of Sydney copy and paste this link, you can apply directly for Sydney by clicking the Apply for Adoption button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-550 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. Story
Forrest is 3 years old. He is extremely loving, and playful. He absolutely loves getting new toys and he’s not afraid to tell you when he doesn’t like certain food. I’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old and I love him so much. He’s extremely protective over me which is not the greatest thing. He’s gone through boarding and training on a farm and does well with female dogs that arr almost his size, about the same or bigger. He’s doesn’t do the best with male dogs and he’s very reactive. He’s house trained, knows his name, knows to go to his area when I say go to your bed. He sits, gives me his paws to clean when he comes from outside. He loves to play outside but he’s definitely an indoor dog, he tends to get overheated when out too long. He needs an experienced pet owner, who can handle his aggression. He’s a working dog and likes to stay busy but he loves to cuddle. Back in September he did bite the vet tech and was placed on bite watch for 10 days at home.

Story
Meet Basia, a ten-week old German Shepherd mix puppy bursting with personality. Weighing at 13 pounds now (12/22/25), this stunning girl is black with striking brindle pattern that turns heads wherever she goes. She's a social butterfly who adores her foster mama and romping around with her doggy foster siblings. Smart and eager to learn, Basia is already doing great with her housebreaking training and will thrive in a home that can keep up with the good work. Like most puppies, Basia is in her teething phase and explores the world with her (very sharp) teeth, so she will do best with children over 7 years old. She hasn't met any cats yet. She's got a clean bill of health from her vet and the first set of puppy vaccinations. Basia is expected to grow into a larger dog over 45 pounds and she's looking for a forever family ready to help her become the best girl she can be. She'll make a wonderful indoor companion and loyal sidekick to the lucky adopter who scoops her up! Austin, TX area adoptions only. A secure and fully fenced yard is needed. An adopter who's home more often than not, to continue on with her training. Children over 7 years old. Basia's adopter fee of $350 covers the vet fee, age appropriate vaccines, fecal test, dewormer, heartworm test and preventative, future spay, and microchip.

Story
Introducing Yogurt (Yogi)! This beautiful girl was living on the streets of South Texas, trying desperately to protect her 10 young puppies. We rescued this family just in time as Yogi and her babies came down with parvovirus. They all received the best treatment but tragically only half of the puppies survived. Now that she is finished raising her family, Yogurt is now getting to experience the life she deserves in her foster home filled with comfort, safety, and love. She does wonderful with dogs of all sizes, especially her foster brother Rottweiler named Gus. They are the best of friends and he is helping to show Yogurt all about life as family pet in a real home. Yogi loves to be around people, especially her foster dad. She follows him all around the house and is just content with being close by. She looooves pets and belly rubs. She recently discovered toys and it’s amazing to see her so happy! Although we don’t know for sure what breeds Yogi is mixed with, we are guessing possibly Shepherd/ Belgian Malinois. She is very athletic and enjoys walks and time outside. We believe she would do amazing with a family who is active (hiking, walking, running) and can give her daily exercise. Yogurt is incredibly smart and is doing great with training, including potty-training and leash-training. Yogurt is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. Because of this, she is available for adoption to families within the Austin area. Our rescue covers the full cost of her heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adding Yogi to your family, please fill out the adoption application found on our website: www.savingsouthtexas.com/adoptables
