Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  *Due to rescuer being very ill, all her dogs are in desperate need!!! Rocky is a large, 9 year old, male German shepherd mix. (95 lbs). Don’t plan on having any bad days with this guy around. When he can tell that you’re feeling down, he spins around in circles to get your attention! He is one of the most happy go lucky fellas we’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Food driven would be an understatement about this guy, as he loves to learn new tricks and be rewarded almost as much as he loves tennis balls. Often, he will carry one around in his mouth and sometimes lets his tongue hang out at the same time! Rocky has a high prey drive and cats are definitely a no go, while it is admittedly funny to watch him slowly stalk toys and other things he mistakes for cats. All Rocky wants in life is belly scratches and to finally get out of shelter and foster life, once and for all. He would feel most comfortable around older kids that can understand that after years of feeling like he has to protect his belongings, it may be a tough adjustment to finally not have to do so anymore. Rocky thinks that there is nothing better than peanut butter!!! Well, maybe YOU! *Guest Posting**Discount for mature doggies If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you can't get it to work, let us know and we will send it to you in a different format. ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. November 1, 2024, 8:13 pm

I’m a six year old German Shepherd Heeler, and I’m looking for a family to go on life’s big adventure with me! I’ve got a heart full of love, a lot of loyalty to give, and a passion for fun—especially if that fun includes kids, swimming, or chasing tennis balls! You’ve got a tennis ball? Great! Toss it, and I’ll show you just how fast this Huckleberry can run! I’ve even been known to leap up to eight feet high! Yeah, I’ve got some serious hops. Now, I’ll be honest with you—I prefer to be the only pet in the house. I like to be your one and only, and trust me, I’m worth it. With me by your side, you’ll have a loyal companion who’s always ready for the next game of fetch, a swim in the lake, or just lounging around with the family. I’m all about those belly rubs and head scratches after a good day of play. So, if you’re looking for a fun-loving, active dog with a big heart and an even bigger personality, then look no further than this Huckleberry! I’m ready to be your one and only, and I promise to fill your days with joy, loyalty, and plenty of tennis ball action. Let’s start our adventure together—what do you say? With love and a wagging tail,Huckleberry *Guest Posting If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. Take a walk with Brody! During walks, Brody is very interested in his environment, always sniffin` around. He has no favourite place for pets, wanting to be pet all over. He will engage quickly with people, making new friends where ever he goes. He will become very excited about toys if you offer them. Brody also takes treats nicely from staff. Brody does well on leash, as long as he can get those sniffs in! In playgroups, he isn`t a fan with pushy friends. He would prefer a mellower dog bud. A meet and greet is a great idea to be sure the match is just perfect! Ask to meet him today!
