Story
Hey! My name is Brock and I am one of the most unique dogs here at the shelter. I have a big body and an even bigger personality. Although I can be vocal when I play, I get along with almost any other dogs playing in both our rough/rowdy AND gentle/dainty play yards. What I am known most for here at the shelter are my smarts (even if sometimes I am too smart for me own good). I pick up on routines quickly, am very treat motivated, and sometimes try and see how much I can get away with with the staff here. I would do best in a home that will give me structure because I love to please and show you how quickly I learn. Come meet me and I can show you for myself just how smart and motivated I am!

Story
Bear is 9 years old. We took him in about 4 months ago but due to my one year old son being allergic we are having to rehome the sweet guy. He is so gentle and sweet. He will talk back to you and greet you at the door after a long day at work. He is so smart and will talk back with you especially if he has to go potty. He gives you kisses, hand shakes, cuddles and hugs. He also loves to catch a frisbee or ball but can also be one sleepy lazy guy. He will always do what you want to do as long as he is your best friend.

Story
Luna is SUCH a sweet dog. She is 10 months old. Loves to have attention! She is amazing with kids, other dogs and strangers. Luna really is the perfect dog. She talks to you and lets you know when she needs to potty, our smart girl even tells you when she wants an extra treat. We are finding a new home for Luna because my wife is pregnant with our second child. Sara is a stay at home mom and between me being very busy with work and growing a family I am not available to give the extra support and as you know German shepherds are energy and fun. We won’t let her go until we find the perfect home!

Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   NOT IN VPDate into Rescue: 3/4/2024 Reason for being in rescue: breeder release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Jackie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Jackie is not hypoallergenic and does shed.  Weight: 53 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Jackie requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Living life aa a Poodle German Shepherd has made things fun for Jackie. Striving to fit into any situation Jackie finds it easy to mold into whatever human or dog needs from her. Jackie loves attention from anyone or anything she can get it from - human or four legged! Jackie wants to simply experience life and however that looks for you sounds great top her. Jackie loves her poodle and non-poodle furry friends (all sizes and cats too!); therefore, we know Jackie would absolutely love a home where she can have a pawed companion! Though we do not think it is necessarily required Jackie would NEED playdates and perhaps doggy daycare if she does not have a friend at home with her! She always has faired better with her friends than by herself and she loves to follow their determined lead into new situations! She has never lived without her he siblings and besides who doesn't love having someone to talk too on those boring days where you can't annoy mom and dad! We haven't seen Jackie interact with children, but our expectation is that she will love kids, she has a sweet and loving personality that seems just right for children. After she has had time to settle in and adjust to her new home, we expect she'll enjoy playtime with them. From running in the back yard to hikes in the mountains or simply lounging on the beach!  Jackie does shed and will need to be in a home where shedding does not cause allergy reactivity!  What is my personality like? Jackie has a sweet and caring personality that makes it hard not to love her! She will happily greet you ever chance she gets and on the days where you've been gone too long, she will jump up to hug you. We are working getting her to show her love and excitement differently! Jackie is just kind, and there is no other way to put it! She loves love, and she loves life and that is all she wants in return!  How do I act when I first meet new people? Jackie can be a little nervous upon first meeting people, but she warms up quickly. Very quickly. She does well with both men and women, and we expect her to be fine with kids. Just give Jackie some time to adjust and learn and you'll soon be rewarded with a new BFF. Other tips and tidbits: Jackie was born on 6/29/2022. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. November 5, 2024, 5:31 pm

Veronica is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Veronic has deep set eyes. She has seen an eye specialist. She will be on eye drops for the rest of her life. Veronica has a perianal hernia. We are working with specialists on this to confirm IF any intervention is needed.  Weight: 90 lbs Height: 22 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes, Veronica is a large girl who needs a good deal of exercise. Walks are not enough.   What kind of home would be best for me? If you are a well-acquainted German Shepard lover, look no further.  Veronica is looking for a home with someone familiar with her breed. Veronica would do well in a home with an energetic playful canine buddy to run around and play with. Having another dog will provide her an example to learn how to be a dog as well. Another German Shepherd would be ideal for her. Veronica will fit right into your life whether you are single, a couple, or a family. She would be a great family dog but she's a big girl so the family's children should be older than 10 years of age.  Veronica is a loving, sweet, and kind girl. She does fine with large dogs and is extremely curious with small dogs but is not aggressively so. The same is true with cats, Veronica is very curious, non-aggressive and cautious around them. What is my personality like?  Coming in as a breeder release Veronica's learning how to be a dog. She was not given the opportunity to be loved on as a pet in her past years. Veronica is learning leash manners and would benefit from additional leash training with her adopter. Veronica has learned how to sit, but she will need to be taught other basic commands like sit, stay, down, come, and the like. Veronica needs her training to be fun and challenging. She needs an enthusiastic adopter to teach her and reward her with what she wants, that can change with each training session. This is why she would do best with an experienced German Shepherd adopter. Veronica does well with a routine so having a set schedule for feeding and potty time is a must. Veronica needs a loving home and a loving adopter(s) to allow her to develop into a wonderful girl. We have no doubt Veronica will become your loving companion and enrich your life in oh so many ways.  How do I act when I first meet new people?  Veronica is happy to see everyone she meets, she is fine with people and loves being loved on! Other tips and tidbits: Veronica was born on 10/6/2019. House trained? Story
Buck is estimated between 3 and 4, definitely still a young buck, if you will! Buck is unfortunately returning to us from his adopter due to some herding behaviors! Because of these behaviors (nipping legs/grabbing the leash), Buck is ONLY available to a breed experienced home. He was very loved, and bonds strongly (as all GSDs do!) Buck needs a fair, educated, and confident handler to continue his OB. When initially tested, his ball and toy drive was minimal, but the tides have turned and he'll play ball all day! Buck is not suitable for a home with prey animals or children. He is dog neutral/ok with proper intros to non dominant dogs.

Story
Otto came into our lives last spring through a social media post. He was picked up from the side of the road and we rescued him from the person who found him. He was not chipped, no collar, and no responses to lost dog posts. We found out he had heartworms and he was treated immediately. He’s a very sweet boy and very loving. I found out I was pregnant shortly after and unfortunately she is allergic to him and he’s not getting as much attention as we hoped for him. We just want him to be in a home where he’s loved and gets attention. He definitely needs some space to run around and play.

Story
Meet Jonas – Your Gorgeous, Relaxed, Sweet German Shepherd! Hi there! I’m Jonas, and I’m probably the most laid-back German Shepherd you’ll ever meet. Not to brag, but I’m gorgeous– pictures don’t do me justice! I’m not a big barker, and I don’t get into trouble – I’m just content hanging out and waiting patiently for you to come home. People? I LOVEthem! I’m a total people dog, and I’m always ready for cuddles or just hanging out by your side. I’m a little selective about my dog friends and can be particular about certain dogs, especially with dominant males. I tend to do best with calm, laid-back dog buddies. I’m working on my social skills and getting better every day! While I’m still learning, my reactivity on walks is something we’re working on together. It’s not a big issue, but I do need a little extra attention when passing certain dogs. As for cats, I’m just too big of a fan– I have a prey drive, and if a cat is high-energy or moving around a lot (like a kitten), I’ll definitely be interested. So, a cat-free home would be best for me. Walks are one of my favorite things! I’m a sniffer, so I love exploring on our walks. And here’s a fun perk: I’ll give you scary dog privileges on your walks – I may look intimidating to other people, but trust me, I’m not really a scary dog at all! I’ve even learned to sit and wait before we cross the street. I’m pretty smart – I know “sit,” “paw,” “no,” and “come here,” and I’m working on “down” and “wait” too. I may not be obsessed with toys, but I do enjoy having a couple around just in case the mood strikes me. And if you have Poppers? I’m all in – I’ll work for those! I’ve been passed around a few times, and I’m really just looking for a forever home where I can settle in and be loved. If you’re looking for a loyal, easygoing companion who loves to cuddle and is incredibly sweet (and did I mention gorgeous?), I just might be your guy!

Story
Tally is just precious. At only a year old, she found herself scheduled for a 10am euthanasia at an overcrowded county shelter simply due to space and a broken toe (yes…a broken toe). Tally is currently in foster and doing AMAZING! She’s a Velcro pup and wants to be with you at all times. She doesn’t necessarily need to be pet constantly - she’s content just laying under your feet or beside you. She loves sniffing around and doing "find-it" games. She is incredibly intelligent and catches on to training quickly.  She gets along with all animals and is cat curious but gentle. She’s potty trained, not food aggressive at all, takes treats gently and walks well on a leash. Not a huge fan of the crate but her foster is working on her with that. She LOVES children and will lay on their lap as long as they pet her. Tally is a sensitive Shepherd and has shown some reactivity (barking/lunging) to new people, but this has improved with counter conditioning and moving away from triggers. When moving into a new home, her adopter will need to be patient and understand that these behaviors may emerge as she tries to figure out her new handler and home. Tally does phenomenal with a confident handler! She has attended numerous public adoption events with a confident handler and has shown zero issues meeting/seeing new people and other dogs. We are happy to provide her adopters with training support to continue to set Tally up for success in this field.  *******************************Tally is currently in a foster home, but we are happy to arrange a meet & greet with approved adopters. To get started, please submit an adoption application at https://bit.ly/USAHOTNADOPT2024 Adoption process:Potential adopters complete our online application. From there, we contact them to continue the screening process including checking references, vet checks, and a personal phone interview. Upon completion, potential adopters are pre-approved. From there, potential adopters are put in touch with the foster parent(s) of the dog they are interested in adopting. If a specific dog is not in mind, admins will make suggestions based on who we feel will be good candidates for their home. We take the foster's opinions into high consideration when determining ideal fit for an adoption. Once the dog is determined to be a good fit for the adoptive home, the adopter is given advisement on decompression, training, safety gear, and future preventative vetting. The adoption contract is signed and adoption fee paid to finalize the adoption. ##2122343##
