Lyle’s Story: The Brilliant Pack Leader Hi there, I’m Lyle! I’m a 1-year-old German Shepherd mix with a brain as big as my heart. People say I’m super smart—and they’re not wrong! I’ve got a knack for problem-solving, and I’ve been known to open my kennel at the shelter lickety-split with just a swipe of my nose. The staff had to clip it shut, but hey, can you blame me for showing off my skills? Life is better when I’m with my favorite humans and my best buddy, Milo. Milo and I are a dynamic duo, though some think I’m the sidekick. Spoiler alert: I’m actually the one in charge! I love leading the pack during walks to make sure everyone’s together and safe. Being the responsible one is kind of my thing. I’m a big fan of people—especially kids! I thrive on love, playtime, and mental challenges. I do have a discerning taste in dog friends, though, so a little patience is key while I find my crew. Long, boring days without company aren’t for me; they make me anxious. I need a family who understands my need for adventure and stimulation. If you’re looking for a clever, loyal, and loving companion, look no further. I’d be the perfect addition to your home, bringing endless joy and a touch of brilliance to your days. Come meet me at the shelter—I can’t wait to show you why I’m the pup for you! With love and nose boops, Lyle 🐾

Story
Meet Oscar: The 3-Legged Survivor Who Just Wants to Love Oscar is a 1-year-old shepherd mix who has already shown an incredible amount of strength and resilience in his short life. Despite having only three legs, he moves with an amazing grace and determination that proves he's more than capable of living a full, happy life. This sweet boy may have had a rough start, but he's ready to find a family who will help him continue to thrive. Oscar is incredibly loving and forms deep bonds with the people he meets. He loves meeting new people and is friendly with everyone, and even more so once he gets to know you. He’ll shower you with affection and loyalty! Whether you're playing, cuddling, or just relaxing together, Oscar will always be by your side, ready to offer comfort and companionship. While he’s still learning to navigate the world around him, especially when it comes to other dogs, Oscar is a quick learner. He can be a little timid around other dogs, so he’ll need to be socialized slowly, but with patience and understanding, he will learn to feel more confident. When it comes to cats, he's still adjusting, but he's making great strides and showing signs of progress. Oscar may only have three legs, but he has a heart that's larger than life. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who will stand by you through thick and thin, Oscar just might be your perfect match. Come meet this special boy, and let him show you how truly remarkable he is.

Story
Some dogs arrive at the shelter in the usual way—found wandering the streets or surrendered by owners. But Pogo? He came in with a little extra flair. At just five months old, this black and tan German Shepherd mix was brought in as a stray by the RCMP. However, due to a quarantine at the shelter, he had an extended stay at Lakeland Veterinary Clinic before finally getting to join the other pups in search of a home. Pogo has never let anything get his down. This wiggly, happy-go-lucky boy is all about fun, play, and unconditional love. If there’s a game of chase happening in the yard, you can bet Pogo is leading the charge! He absolutely loves running after other dogs, darting around with playful energy. He’s also got the best manners. He trusts his humans to keep him safe, and he just loves to keep the peace and keep playing. Pogo is as sweet as he is adorable. When people walk past his kennel, he greets them with an enthusiastic butt wiggle, his whole body waggling with excitement. He adores everyone and everything—other dogs, people, and even the occasional treat (especially if it's peanut butter!). This smart little pup is already well on his way to being housetrained. He doesn’t like to mess in his kennel, making him an easy candidate for full training in his future home. With just a little patience and consistency, he’ll be the perfect house companion in no time.
