Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. RHEA was saved on 21st September from southern Maine heavily pregnant and the night we got her to the rescue was the night she gave birth to 8 previous puppies. She is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. She has been a great mama to the pups and is scheduled to be spayed, get her rabies and heartworm/tick test on 25th November after which she will be ready to go to start her new life with her wonderful family. Rhea is incredibly sweet girl and is just desperate for love and attention to the point where she can be a bit over-bearing and needy, however, I am sure when she is with her own family and has settled in and understands that she will now be getting all the love she will ever need, she will get a lot better. She does cower a lot so I am not sure if she has been subjected to any abuse but other than that she is extremely affectionate. She has been great with other dogs and lives in a communal setting and has been with both males and females. She does get a little jealous if the other dog is getting attention, but she is learning to understand that sharing is good. She likes to hoard all toys and of course loves things with squeaks. We do not know anything about this sweet girls history and so we just want to start her new future with an amazing family who can give her a loving, active, life full of adventure, great food, toys and treats. We do not know how she is with cats or other creatures, and although she has not been around small children, other than he wanting to be the center of attention, and wanting love I have no concerns as long as the children are respectful to her. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks.      She does need an active family who will ensure she gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that she needs to live a happy fulfilling life. RHEA has an adoption fee of $550 Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue in SEBEC, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. JAKE  was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on Saturday 3rd August.   We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page. Jake is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. He has an estimated date of birth of July 2022 and at the beginning of August weighed around 80 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks.    He does need an active family who will ensure he gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that he needs to live a happy fulfilling life. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. SHELBY was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 24th September.  We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page. Shelby is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. She has an estimated date of birth of February 2024 and on 20th September weighed around 40 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. The shelter noted on 27 August during playgroup: A bit timid initially, but started easing into things and coming out of her shell. She was a bit more people oriented at this time, seeking attention more from the handlers instead of the other dogs. She would start to socialize with the other dogs more once getting accustomed to things. He has an estimated date of birth of September 2020 and and on 20th September weighed 70 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. Having been here at the rescue for a few days, this is a very happy boy, he needs to gain some weight and needs a good bath and brushing, but he is so affectionate, extremely playful, he loves to be cuddled, is gentle and is desperate to chase the water when I am cleaning, however, since I use a pressure washer he cannot play - I think he would enjoy the water for sure. The shelter noted the following on 2 September: Housebroken. He's a bit unsure about interacting at first but once he comes around he is very playful. Extremely affectionate,  would run to be pet and falls over to have his belly rubbed. Absolutely loves to chase and chew on the tennis balls.
