You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!UPDATE 3/5/2024:  Buddy is having some issues being 'stiff' but as long as you don't have stairs he does great.  He does guard his toys but if you do a trade with a snack he will give them up :)  Looking for a GS experienced ownerUPDATE:  Buddy is looking fantastic!!  He is a little 'stiff' in his old age but I told him its OK so am I!  He LOVES attention, he likes his toys and he is great with the dogs although I think he would be just as happy as an only dog he does fine with all the dogs here at the ranch :)I can only imagine how Buddy must have felt...  Like no one cared, defeated, ready to give up, a banquet for fleas and tics :(  It took us quite a while to get him back to health and still he deals with ear infections from repeated ones not being treated :(  No worries now big man you are loved and valued!Buddy you have your 2nd Chance and we are going to give you an amazing life!!REQUIRES FENCED YARD!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm

My name is Laney. I am a one owner dog. I love to go for long walks and lay with my human. I get very excited with small children and sometimes am a bit much for small children. I do love my human though and just want a forever home who can help me work with me and love me.

Story
Meet cubbie! He’s a loving best friend who loves attention even when you don’t ask for it. He loves walks, playing fetch, and finding toys hidden around the house. We adopted cub from an old roommate who never cared for him and was not trained. We wanted to give him the best home and we did until we are now moving and I want him to find his forever home. It breaks my heart but I know there is someone out there for him who he can play with everyday. He loves to stay busy and always comes by you on the couch to drop the ball on your lap so he can run after it. He will follow you everywhere whether you want him to or not. He’s a personal shadow. You can’t help but live his goofy personality.

In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.12/14/24 Still available! 11/23/24Cobalt - have you ever seen a more handsome boy? I can't think of one! This big boy was a sad sight when he was found in a ditch, starved almost to death. Thankfully he was found before it was too late. After many weeks of slow re-feeding, he finally started to put on some weight and is now a healthy, happy boy! This guy has one thing on his mind - LOVE! He absolutely adores his (foster) people, because they show him love and kindness, and that's all it takes for him to love you. Cobalt is currently fostered in a home with many other dogs of all sizes and genders, and he does well with all of them. He would also do well as an only dog if that were the case - he would be happy with or without another dog in the home. He is much more focused on the humans. He gets along with the other dogs but doesn't really bond with them or play with them. His one and only focus is to soak up as much love as he can each day. He must have really been deprived of affection before he was rescued, and he's trying to make up for lost time now. Cobalt is a big guy at about 75 lbs. We believe he is about 4 years old. He is not destructive and doesn't require a ton of exercise. A few leash walks each day would be fine with him. Of course, if his person wants to play, he's game for that, too, if it makes you happy! He is house trained and doesn't necessarily require a crate but will use one if needed. He is crated some of the time in his foster home (when foster mom and dad are at work) and he is perfectly content with that. He is a very good boy and really deserves to have a forever family that can give him a lot of individual attention. Cobalt was already neutered and microchipped when he came into rescue, but his previous owner never registered the chip, so it could not be traced. Sadly, he tested positive for heartworms and is undergoing treatment now. Once his treatment is completed (about 6 weeks) he will be ready to meet his new family! Cobalt is wonderful with kids and would be a protective, doting big brother. Don't miss out on all the love this big guy has to offer you! Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations.
